all you guys that want to put wheels weights on a tractor with a hydrostatic tranny, I wouldnt do it! thats a good way to mess up your tranny alot faster!! the newer tractors that can go forward/reverse with your foot pedal, have weaker tanny's and therefore when you add weights to the wheels and up the rotational mass of them. going forward to reverse and vice versa will burn up the fluid and kill the tranny very fast!........ just a warning.! buy the rear tatch weights instead!
@chaddythepimp1973 Thanks for that advice. Im a noob looking for a tractor that can do 2 acres, plow snow, & redo my drive way will this be a good choice ?
@KINGTERIK the john deere X320 and X324 are my reccomendations. the X320 has the K58 trans which is rock solid and you can change the oil in it fairly easily(its user serviceable) unlike the X300's K46 which isnt. coming from someone with a D110 that has a T40 trans in it, I had to void my arranty and take my trans out of ther tractor, and then turn it over to empty the crappy oil and then install Full Synthentic 5W30 to stop the whining it made, but that will only last me another 120 hours
@KINGTERIK I after my trans goes (which will be just out of warranty) I'll have to upgrace to a K66 trans and then I'll have basically the strength of the K320.... so why not just do it eight the first time and buy the X320 or X324 4 wheel steer in the first place? My ignorance and thinking I was going to save money. if your just going to cut an acre of grass and do nothing else, get the D1** series of tractors, if you going to add to that get the X320 and up! I hope this helps you...
@chaddythepimp1973 Yes it did & your reply is greatly appreciated. I have one more if you dont mind, Whats your opinion on Husqvarna (LGT24K54 ) or anyone ?
I have a little jd lt155 and it is amazing at snow I had about twice as deep snow and it went throw it and a tank of gas and I have recently purchase a x300 love it
That is amazing for a little x300 JD! How long will it last doing that kind of work? I figured a 500 or 700 series, but not a little 300. Very nice indeed!!
sorry for my bad english... i'm italian and i have buy john deere x300r... the snow blower is one optional??? here in Italy there is only the blade... thx
Both wheel weights and two 40 pounds suitcase weight on the rear of the tractor.
Chains are also mandatory.
It would not work well without the chains.
The lift spring assist needs to be installed for the blower. Once installed, it stays there for the deck during summer time. You just need to adjust the spring tension for either the snowblower or the deck. This is a 3 minutes job.
Trying to decide between a big walkbehind, X320 w/blower vs. X500 w/blower (locking rear diff)... I get really deep snowdrifts, but my paved drive is not real steep... do i really need the x500?
I have a X520 the good thing about these is you would never have to worry about being under powered. I also think due to the beefier trany you would get longer life from you machine. The 300 is a very nice machine, the 500's are Garden Tractors, I looked both over allot before I opted for the X520.
i really love your tractor ! how long have you had it? have you had any problems with it?does it cut grass really good? im thinking about buying one with a 38 inch mower for my half acre yard . would you recommend the x 300 to anyone?
i have the x300 and no problems, strong tranny, never gets hot, neither does the motor, the cooling is pretty efficinent, its cuts phenominaly, great for lawn stripes by the way, and very easy to make it go alot faster if you want that is lol, its pretty comfy ride, it has plenty of power, and i usually end up mowing my yard around the point when its a hayfeild and it rarely if ever bogs down, very handy tool, recomend it to anyone
I've spent the afternoon on the net searching for a John Deere 2 stage all hyrdaulic snow thrower for my 2001 John Deere 425. It's snowing heavily now here in SE Michigan. Having given up on finding a snow thrower that fits my 425, I started looking at You Tube videos and found yours. I can truly appreciate your appreciation for the attachment. Great video. Hopefully in a week or two I will have found the unit for my model. Best Wishes from Michigan.
I do snow removal in the park that I live in and last year I used a husqvarna yth 180 and it got the job done. This year I now have a brand new x320 with the 44 blower and I cant wait to use this one. Just wish my boss had bought a cab with it, lol. Nothing worse than blowing snow and getting blown in the face from the wind even with a face mask on. Sounds like the tranny likes to whine pretty loud when its cold.
I just bought a new X300 in April of 08' and ive been wondering how it really does plowing snow.Ive been using an atv to do my plowing but i might just consider getting a blower for my mower now.The X300's blower makes plowing with my atv look prehistoric!!
Great Video, just order a X300 with the 44" blower. Pick it up tomorrow, Looking forward to winter now. 300 feet of driveway and last year we paid 1,000.00 for the plow service. X300 - money in the bank.
So..... you're looking forward to winter? Well.... I have 200' plus of driveway and I do mine with a 1971 Ariens 724. So I more the welcome you to come over to my house and do my driveway with your new tractor and 44" blower attachment. (LOL) Just kidding.
I just bought my first house and the owner left me a Simplicity from the early 90's. It's a solid unit, but I'm almost anxious for it to die so I can get an X300 and a plow. These types of responses are what's making me consider an x300 over the less expensive (cheaper?) LA models at Lowes and the HD.
You can't wait to try it out? Then you can come over to my house. LOL. Good luck with it and enjoy. I'd love a machine like this. With 200 LF of drivweway, my 1971 Ariens 724 still gets the job done. I would be spoiled with this setup.
I wouldn't exactly call the Ariens 724 a poor man's tool. I've used one and it sure beats a shovel. It'll be fun to sit now, though. Looking forward to it (but I can wait).
Yes you are correct. This ariens has been a trouper and a half. Bought in July of 1971. She owes us absolutely nothing. If she died tomorrow, I would have no complaints about her. I probably would be pretty hesitent to by a brand new Ariens.
good

Ive got a 180 LT but you cant put a blower on it,

wheel weights come from a sears craftsman tractor. They fit perfectly on the john deere.

thank you for posting... i have been thinking about buying an x500 (24 hp) for a while, do you finds the 17hp x300 is sufficient for deep snow?
catphish454 2 years ago
Hi,
the X300 fits my needs but I guess with a bigger engine/tractor, one could blow his driveway faster.
If your driveway has a slope though, you migh want something with 4 wheel drive.

@panalhuile
got it..
thank you...my driveway's are pretty much flat, but I am thinking the 500 with chains should do the trick....

do you have hydro lift?
TractorWorld 2 years ago
no, the blower is lifted by the foot. A spring lift assist must be installed once prior to the blower installation.

does the snowblower also work by small snowstrings (by just 3 cm)
mrtantin09 2 years ago
Sure.
Then I go full speed and make little snow hills here and there, and blow them.
Faster this way.
