Disappointing performance, but i guess it is hard for a girl to capture the pathos of this piece, since it is an expression of noble knighthood that is incomprehensible to a women. A certain nobility and pride inherent in the play of, for example Yundi Li, is practically out of reach for them by nature.
@mogotootzi I can't tell if you're just trolling or are completely serious. Either way, the playing of this piece is very subjective. I think Yundi Li plays it too fast, but I like his expression. But it has nothing to do with being a man or woman, it has everything to do with how you approach it as a musician.
du mein seele du mein hertz du meine wonn o du mein schmerz du meine welt in der ich lebe mein himmel du da rein ich schwebe o du mein grab in das hinab ich ewig meinen kumer gab!
Beautiful! A wonderful piece of music conveyed beautifully. To my ear, you rush those little descending staccato notes at 4:00 and elsewhere, which I prefer to sound more pronounced, more noble - but maybe I'd get used to your version. Otherwise, I enjoyed it very, very much. I look forward to your documentary on CBC and hearing more from you and about you in the future.
A very attractive performance and video presentation. I noticed a couple of notes lacking clarity (e.g. at 3:51); but overall, it was rather splendid.
yes! marika is the subject of a feature documentary film in development with ARTV and CBC TV... filmed over a six year period since she was 12 years old. It should air in 2010!
On the Carnegie website the description says "Works by Bach, Beethoven, Stravinsky, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff" - any idea which specific works she'll be performing?
I find Marika's playing delightful. I've got my tickets for her Carnegie appearance on May 29th. Pity I'll have to wait until 2010 ~ 2011 to see the documentary. ;-)

@alep85 i am quite stubborn in this matter, so i guess it isn't of much use to argue about it, anyway i still appreciate a well thought out comment.
