Quer trabalhar ? Vá para a prisão. Meu Deus, que mundo é esse.

  • I knew most of the statistics but you educated me on some more. Thanks. Great effin video!

  • too much police stuff

  • there is a way to avoid all of this, don't do drugs and don't break the law; folks who are law abiding citizens do not want to be around those who choose to break the law and conduct themselves in an uncivilized fashion;

  • thanks for posting :)

  • As a group, as a subpopulation, nobody anywhere is more fundamentally twisted, sadistic, uneducated and disingenuously motivated than your typical U.S. "correctional" worker. They choose this work for a reason - it affords them an opportunity to release their sadistic energy under the cover of law. They just never counted on all those darn surveillance cameras catching them in action.

  • this video is great and i would love to use it for my cj1010 paper, but do u think its ok and if so can i get your sources?

  • America and its love for slavery !!!

  • This is bull shit & if we stop allowing these puppets to control us & stand up to the abuse we may finally be free. Then we can lock up the real criminals...... CIA< FBI< Government etc

  • what about the elite who breaks the law and does whatever they want, the law is only for poor people its not for everybody, elite kills destroys and robbs us and then laughs at our face when they sell drugs to us and then put us in their private jails, the system is totally corrupted only imbeciles believe in this system, dont pay taxes and break the law if you can

  • the funny thing is that we are helping our own demise by paying taxes, the money is being used to promp up these criminal companys and destroy our planet and inslave and destroy people and animals

  • I have experienced 2nd hand what happens to prisoners. It is heartbreaking. Breaking the law should not exclude you from the human race. People's lives are entirely in the hands of immoral corporate money makers. Please continue your work on enlightening people on this issue.

  • Don't break the law and you won't go to prison.

  • Very insightful study. Privatization of our correctional facilities is morally wrong. What was that instrumental music that was used in the first part of the video?

  • who ever thought of privatizing prisons was stupid it be like privatizing cops you just don't do it !

  • Congratulations to the creator.

  • As far as felons not being able to vote I say, "Then don't break the law."

  • I don't fully understand this subject ;we (the public) have plenty of access to what goes on in state prisons, and local jails via, cable & tv shows. Private prisons are a mystery; (how do they get inmates, how do they hire staff, whats the difference between how state prisons are run, and private ones). if someone has worked in, or served time in both types of facilities, can you explain the difference in an intelligent manner.

  • i support this video incarcerating people to fill up beds and for profit is evil, to make money off the misery of people is evil, state corrections has falsely tricked and scared the voters so the employees of state corrections and parole can keep fleecing the people of their taxes when the taxes should go to school SHAME ON CDCR and the alike

  • Excellent video! Succinct and accurate.

The United States has less than 5% of the world’s population but over 23% of the world’s incarcerated people.

The United States incarcerates the largest number of people in the world. The U.S. incarceration rate is four times the world average.

The US now has a prison population larger than the 35 largest European countries combined.

One in every 28 children in the US has a parent behind bars -- up from 1 in 125 just 25 years ago.

  • Stay out of prison and dont be a burden on taxpayers. just that simple. the choice is yours

  • Prohibition of cannabis is the most destructive policy since Slavery. Scientist can't even legitimately research it with out DEA approval which is never granted even the State of North Dakota has been given the run around for years and still today has not been granted to grow Hemp (cannabis) which is grown across the border in Manitoba and then ship to the USA.

  • every employee of the prison system, judges, even police are all profiting from crime in the same way corporations profit by saving the government money and attempting to improve on what the government can offer. That is called competition, which is not a social equality concept, but a free market economy concept. We all benefit by more competition to drive down market prices and improve service--even prisons benefit from market pressures to improve. Everyone working in a prison is profiting!

  • Who is the band on the last song on this video, ANYONE???? thanks...

  • The last guy to comment is a fool, and more then likely a prison guard. Job security that is all he can think about.

  • You hit it right on the head. These prison are the new form of legal slavery !

  • Ok, possession of crack cocaine may not be a non violent crime. But its obvious you have never been or seen where and how it is trafficked and sold. Come to Detroit and Ill show you what a city looks like that is littered with drug dealers, Crack heads, prostituted, and gang members who bring the drugs in. I feel sorry for the people that live in Detroit that have to put up with that crap, and all the kids that live there who have to go to school with that stuff all around.... Non violent my ass

  • @BigCat1165 Too bad the crack epidemic was designed and engineered and propigated by the same people who privatise prisons. Drugs are a control mechanism they use to enslave poor people.

  • @xXTurdSandwitchXx enslave poor people? How do you figure? They just sit on their asses and chill all while eating 3 meals a day on my tax money. I think they should take every shitbag in the Wayne County prison, which is over crowded as it is and have them clean the streets of Detroit up. Clean all the condoms, needles, drugs, guns, trash, overgrown plants and trees out of the city. They should have them paint over all the abandon buildings that have gang graffiti all over them.

  • @BigCat1165 you really think that's what prisoners are doing all day? nope. they are put to work, for cents an hour, often for other private companies making even more money for the prison. many of them are serving long sentences for non-violent crimes like drug possession. long sentences that are lobbied for by these same corporations.

the opposition campaign to prop 19 in california was funded by these prison companies. they don't want to lose their pot smoker prisoners to legalization.

  • @xXTurdSandwitchXx LMFAO, well that's a whole different argument there buddy. But I know what your saying.

  • i am a correction officer for the state of ohio and have been stuck at the same wage for three years and looking to be on it for another three years. that is if ohio don't go private first. i don't know any of my fellow officers that would stay for the little pay we would get if they did go private. If you think it would save states money by going private just ask yourself would you work for 10 bucks an hour to be spit on or assulted like i have been several times.

  • @cobarnhart Its all about making politicians money brother... I feel ya on what your saying. All this shit makes me sick...

  • The penal system is making billions of dollars off of prisoners everyday and they will not give that free labor up so easily. Slavery never ended and the more people get trapped in his nightmare called the american dream, the more people will be locked in these private owned concentration camps. This documentary hit alot of important things about the privatization of prisons aka legalized slavery.

  • they derseve to stay behind bars. Back in the old civilaization it was your head. be happy its only 5 fuckin years. besides its aganst the law. dont smoke crack. drink beer. pick a fight but dont smoke crack

  • It is good to see that someone out there has their eyes open to government corruption., According to Douglas Blackmon, slavery never ended. It just changed names. Now it's called private prisons. Thanks Nancy Regan for the new drug laws that makes crack cocaine more punishable than first-degree murder. Actually, it cost less to send them to college than to prison. But they can't get college in prison anymore so the only thing they know is prison. Can you say recidivism?

  • 4:52 What is the Jena office?

  • I liked it very much. I am doing a thesis on "The New Slavery in America." I started this project because of Douglas Blackmon's Pulitzer book "Slavery by Another Name." Doing research on this topic was shocking. I know you got an A in the class. I hope to do as well.

  • WOW... This was extremely interesting.. Thank you for sharing this...

  • Who cares about losers like these. Criminals have no rights. All of their constitutional rights are null and void.

  • Is talking really so hard? Why have screens of text? If you want to make an article, make an article, not a video!

  • Everything in this video is SO true!

  • I hate to tell all of you haters this but the video is pretty much spot on. I worked for CCA for ten years at local and corporate levels. I saw inmates beaten, spanked and sprayed at close range for sport. Many of the staff would not be fit to watch your pets. It is a Texas based correctional philosophy. We treat many inmates more like cattle than people. The fact is that our system does not work. We are locking people up for profit, most of them will return to society.

  • The problem is not with locking up criminals but with the laws used to lock up the offenders. A person has to ask themselves why does America have the highest prison population in the world. Why are there so many children incarcerated due to stupid mistakes. I know of no one who has not committed a crime no matter how trivial. One day the laws you uphold to be true will be the same ones that will come back on you or your families. Read history - the chickens always come home to roost

  • Vote, OK I vote we lock up criminals, and if a private can do it ceaper? Then good for the privates, why should I get up every day work 9-10hrs so they can sit on there ass in a comfy-cosy hug-a-thug YMCA? Inmates are the cream-of-the-crap!

  • what a load

  • Fourthyoutalkabouthowpoorlytreated inmates are, you know what walk a mile in a prison guards shoes you will see that most inmates have it better in prison then they do on the streets, (free medical that we the taxpayers pay for, free room and board, free cable tv, three free meals a day, go to the rec yard everyday if they want, chose to work hell we have to work to make are bills, inmates do not not have to worry about bills because when they got locked up theylefttherefamilytotakecareof that)

  • amen i worked for GEO and can say thet the inmates get just about everything they ask for its retarded. people are ignorant to think that inmates have it hard

  • You seem to be missing the issue.

The issue isnt if the prisoners have free cable or not, but that the system, which you say you work for, is based on profit rather than actually helping society treat criminals back to functional citizens.

Lets say GEO got a plan, that hypothetically for argument sake, would lower crime, incarcerations and there profit margin by 40%. Do you seriously think they would execute that plan?No and thats the real problem with private jails. They are not helping society.

  • i dont care that much

  • Hehe, funny.

Its funny how you where calling people ignorant and it turned out you where no better...

    Wasnt that funny?

As a former soldier I can tell you that not caring is the first sign of true weakness macho man.

  • you thought too hard to make those responses. i dont care bout all the business of prisons i simply work on the lines in contact with inmates i dont know what work you do but i bet you have never worked any thing like it

  • No, its not that I think to hard. Its that people like you dont think that much while calling other people ignorant. There is a big difference.

"...i bet you have never worked any thing -like it-"

I bet you thought that would invalidate my statement in some way, which it dosent.

    Second, you are wrong.

  • i know ppl get mad for the wrong reason but the fact that this is the internet is my way of fucking off so you may get a response like i started with because its funny to me and maybe some others i dont really care. but id be happy not to be locked up anywhere besides america

  • Oh, so its ignorant, liar, troll...

    Anything else?

LoL, it like you say you enjoy getting your "mental" ass handed to you. Yeah, whatever kid.

  • yes your mother is a whore and takes it up the ass whille having her pussy fisted. your father is really a fag, and i know you were molested as a kid. ur mom loves piss enemas and so does your dad. u like the prison system enuff that if u worked there ud let inmates fuck u for western unions

  • Third, they are a lot safer than public prison the reason i say that is because again i have worked in a private prison for years and only got into one fight with inmate i have friends that work in public prisons and have been in many fights.

  • First isn't every business out there to make a profit. Second: private prisons actually pay more that public prisons, I know because i work in one for many years.

  • I hope you made an A-PLUS for this assignment. Most people do not have a clue as to how prisons are operated and funded. Everyone thinks the taxpayers pay for incarceration. To a degree that is true, BUT if there is a chance to make a few bucks, someone will always do so. This is some of your mutual fund dollars at work! As long as a profit is made and you are not loosing money on your investment, it really doesn't matter! If you honestly think prisons are there to rehabilitate you, think again!

  • motherfucking americans

DO SOMETHIN AGAINST ALL THE FUCKIN SHIT

FUCK ZIONISM MEDIA BLOWS UR MIND

    FUCK genefood fucks ur bodies

ure the weakest people on earth....

    so stupid......

KILL THE EYE OF THE PYRAMID

  • if it werent for ONE single law: mandotory minimum sent. for drug offenders there wouldnt be any Private Prisons. (both came out the same year) 60% of prison pop. are drug offenders, who do these people hurt? i thought we build jails to keep society safe?

  • No we build prisons now to profit someones pockets. Then we are going to breed america's kids into not believing the constitution and the rights of our people. Did you know that by the time i was in hs the pledge of allegance was taken out of our school system. Our children dont learn shit anymore they are talk out of a history book that only has there history in it what they want taught. We have major issues people i think the time is upon us to save our own asses. peace and legalize

  • The problem with our prison system is not who runs the prisons; the problem is the laws.

Of course it's in the interest of prisons to hold onto prisoners, but no prison can arrest someone. And no prison lobbyist can cast a vote. The problem is with the legal system, unnecessary laws, and corrupt politicians.

I'm not saying private prisons are better than public ones. The reason they're so profitable is b/c our gov't is pushing towards a police state, not because they are privately owned.

  • Music doesnt fit the issue and it's distracting , but you still get five stars ...Good info .

  • This video is really well done.

But you never make an argument as to why public prisons are better than private ones. A private prison located near the victims' last residence is not worse than a public one, as long as they're not kept over their sentence.

Private prisons aren't the problem; our voting would be more effective in calling for an end to the war on drugs, restoring felons' right to vote, fighting the move towards police state, & punishing those convicted of inmate abuse.

  • Loev , your comment that the privatization of prisons is not a problem or should be continued , is really assanine.

Wackenhut and others , actually list the amount of prisoners they have , on the stock exchange ....They lobby for stiffer sentences and to expand the criminal code , making more things illegal ..They profit from that ,more of us in jail means more money, the longer we stay in jail , the more money they make, that's terrible, when you bring in corporate interest .You cant see that ?

  • Privatization will lower the tax, boost the economy and create more jobs. A better economy also ends up having lower crime rates. What makes you think that Public Jails have ever done a good job in rehabilitation? Privatization takes the criminal debt off the tax payers hands. I think you should argue more along the lines of politicians who take bribes as funding instead of hating on companies that employ Americans.

  • Great work btw :)

  • anyone hoo puts another human being in a cage deserves to have urine thrown at them or worse

  • That is harsh. Penitentiaries serve a purpose, for the convict as well as society.

People are not inherently evil, that is my belief, its the history o social structure where where the devil resides.

Look there and yu'll find the true causal agents for probably 90% of crime.

  • thank you for this

  • I am very impressed with the research that went into this video. This is Documentary material. The info alone could be spread out for 40-90 minutes with a hand full of interviews. You should think about it.

    Good work! 5 Stars!

  • hitler had the right idea. mass killing seemed like a bad thing. but the world has become overrun with the people that should have been selectively erased.

i'm sorry society. you're all getting worse. you deserve to die.

if the world wasn't so shitty, there would be no reason for genocide. maybe death would be a more fitting punishment than rotting behind bars.

if our lives were on the line, we would act right. god is letting us die, what about that "afterlife"??? give up now?

  • PRIVATE CORRECTIONS IS A JOKE ! If anyone wants to really know what goes on in these jails, instead of listening to propaganda drop me a message , I'll give you the straight shit.

  • Hello Adriano,

No need for str8 shit. You are probably one of many dirty, scumbags officers that bring in contraband to many inmates, while putting other officers in life threatening situations. You are probably one of many that got busted and lost your job. So no need to sit here and talk that shit. If the public really would like to know what goes on inside CCA's facility, you may contact me.

  • The public doesn't know what employees go through in a correctional facility. You only see the negative side. Correction officers are trained to talk down instead of take down. We (yes I am a c.o.) are spit on, urine is thrown on us and and yes sometimes chemical agent is used. Yes, there are dirty officers that like the violence, same as on the police force. All are not that way. So before you judge what is in the media remember there are two sides of a story.

  • If you bothered to read below you fucken retard you would see why they fired me. Because unlike your scarey ass who'd rather stand there and get shit and piss thrown in his face , I controled my inmates one way or another. And it's retarded , nigger loving disconnected , communist inmate sympathizers like you that tried to have my ass put in jail , and in my opinion are destroying the correctional syatem. If I had you in front of me for just 5 seconds you'd get what that inmate got from me.

  • Hmmm, using the term ni..., it seems to me you are caucasian, possibly w/aryan brotherhood, very interesting. You have so much hatred in you. Could it possibly be that you got your azz kicked for trying to be macho? I treat everyone as I want to be treated. Maybe if you practice that, you would not have been in the situation that you're in now.

  • And also, unless you had some kind of rank, you were not suppose to enter the cell block alone, you dumb fuk. So save that sorry ass story for someone else that doesn't have a clue. Furthermore, you are the one whom got their azz kicked, lol.

  • In 2001 I was fired for excessive use of force , I called it self defense. An inmate assulted an officer and I was the first one in the cell block , he turned and came at me. With no baton or pepper spray I grabbed the closest thing which was a mop ringer. The inmate sustained a fractured skull and lost 4 teeth. I was immediately relieved of duty and escorted out of the facility. The US Marshall Service whom we were under contract with tried to bring me up on charges but the courts threw it out.

  • And that 2 weeks was all in a class room with the exception of one day on the range with an old school 38 special. NO chemical agents , no baton , no hand to hand combat and no tazer training was offered and none of the above mentioned equipment was even available at the facility , as a matter of fact only supervisior were allowed to carry handcuffs. They were so worried about getting sued by the inmates because they were a privately owned facility and the inmates knew it and we had no control.

  • I don't agree with the concept of private correctios for several reasons. # 1 was the issue of training , when I worked for the state there was a 16 week training academy which included everything from hand to hand combat , classes and qualifications with the 45 automatic pistol , Ruger Mini-14 rifie , the 12 ga pump shotgun , chemical agents , tazer , baton ect......... I switched to a newly opened private corrections facility because the starting wage was higher. The training was only 2 weeks

  • Adriano, you are nothing more than a compulsive liar. It is a 6 wks program. We are trained in defensive tactic (PPCT). We are get a taste (sprayed) w/chemical agent. I'm not sure what facility you were at but it certainly wasn't CCA. You need anger management course and maybe your life would be a little more positive. So move on with your lies and get a life.

  • 47 years old LOl Yeal what ever you say grandpa LOL

  • Oh and Aryan Brotherhood ? With a mane like Adriano ? You can't be that much of an imbecile , it isn't possible

  • What year did you go through training ? I went through CCA training back in 1999 and we had 3 weeks of classroom and 1 week OJT. We never got sprayed with anything because officers were not permitted to carry chemical agents and like Adriano said only supervisors carried handcuffs. Now your facility may be different , what state are you in and who are you contracted with ?

  • Our facility was contracted with INS so our inmates were mostly illegal Mexicans awaiting deportation.

  • Come on guy , it's been 24 hours. Don't bitch up now , answer my question. You we're all over that other guy in 15 minute intervals.

  • The solution of "better education, not more prisons" is right, Did you know private prisons do far more than state or federal run prisons to reduce the return rate through education of inmates? The way they increase their business is NOT by encouraging more prisoners, but rather by improving the system and reducing the return rate. If you know basic economics or business principles, good business gets more business.

  • It is unfortunate you feel this way. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Thank you for sharing yours.

To my defense, every citation used in this movie has been taken from news articles, scholarly journals and literature backed by empirical research. The "credits" section of the movie lists my sources in more detail. If you have more credible or recent sources or info, feel free to post it in response to this video.

  • Businesses are always looking to expand their markets, prison businesses want more prisoners.

Many people break the law for the simple reason they do not know how to budget. The solution is better education, not more prisons.

We should judge the success of any society by how few people are in prison and not by how many.

  • About education... Private prisons cost less per inmate and cause LESS tax burden, leaving more for education.

Also, they pay taxes because they are a private business, and have fewer constraints against helping local social organizations improve themselves because they are not government run.

  • more uneducated knee jerk Right wing reaction - aw shucks, business is just good business and corporations have every one's best interests in mind....LOL!!!!!

  • @visualjah These corporations base their profits and stock price off how many inmates they have. Thus, the incentive for them is to incarcerate as many people as possible to maximize their bottom line. This means more and more people have to be arrested and giving exceedingly long sentences every year. Plus, private companies make money off the inmates working for very little or no wage. How is this not a form of slavery?

  • @visualjah I spent some time in LA county jail than I was transfered to immigration facility. All of that because of one misdemeanor! 6 months in county jail and 1 year in immigration custody. I didn't know all this about "business", but I have noticed that there might be another rea$on beyond "protecting the public" involved in this. I have notice there is some type of business going on and even the most stupid people there noticed it as well. THANK GOD I GOT DEPORTED TO MY COUNTRY! NEVER AGAIN

  • @visualjah weed being illegal only ruins our lives and makes more prisoners.

  • @1Deep2424 I couldn't agree with you more about the weed.

  • @visualjah the prisons make money from people going to jail, they have lobbyists who make sure laws are put into place to keep people going to jail. bodies mean money, its basic sales. company growth means more prisoners, this is the new world order.

  • @visualjah and it doesn't bother you that these corrections corporations are the ones lobbying for and funding the " three strikes" and "truth in sentencing" laws that get people life sentences for crimes like car theft?

or how about that the private prisons then sell prison labor to other companies? does it bother you at all that the tiny share of wages the inmates get to keep gets taken right back by their "company store" prison commissaries?

at what point do we stop denying this is slavery?

  • @jwallbanger

At least during the second world war, private citizens were put to work fabricating uniforms, dogtags, boots and other war related items. Now,I hear that all these things are being made inside the prisons.A friend told me recently that prisoners are also working as customer service agents.Americans need jobs but prisoners are being used as slaves to enrich fat corporate pigs. Then,we have assholes who support this shit while at the same time complaining about lack of jobs.

  • @visualjah I think that if they allow private prisons, which I do not think they should at all then they need to not allow prisons to lobby politicians for stronger incarceration laws.

  • I thought it was illegal to profit from crime, however these owners of prisons make a big profit.
