What a great race! She's really was poetry in motion. However (and please don't flame me because I don't know who he is) the commentator really distracted me during this race. He sounded more like an auctioneer than a race caller.

What a monster she was the year leading up to her Horse of the Year honor. One of the best fillies to hit the track. It was long wait for another filly(Azeri) to win HOTY honors after All Along and Lady's Secret.

The only thing those colts could do about it was to avoid eating too much dirt.

The virus... new detail info, I just read in Lawrence Scanlan's new book, The Horse God Built, that Turcotte begged Lucien not to race him, and Lucien said he would get someone else if he, T, didn't ride him ! Author speculated whether Laurin thought even a sick Secretariat could beat his competition.
