Im Mexican and all of my uncles look like OlmecHeads and they look pretty native. Im going to show the photos. Africans might have come before the Spaniards but definetly they mixed with the native population. My uncles are Olmec heads alive. But Mexico actually had the highest number of Africans slaves of any spanish speaking country in Latin America. I'll bite. Actually from first seeing a photo of the 'collossal' heads I thought of this possibility way back when I was in elementary school. I also see a lot of similarities between ancient Mayan stone carvings and that of the ancient Chinese, so personally I could imagine global trade happening between Asia, South America and Africa, while the Europeans were still shivering in rough hides. But Mexico actually had the highest number of Africans slaves of any spanish speaking country in Latin America. The difference between Mexico and other Latin countries is the size, the amount of natives & european immigration. It is estimated the average mexican is about 5% black. Blacks have had an impact on every country in Latin America, and Iberia.

What many of you don't realize is...it's documented history that Mande people traveled by the thousands across the Atlantic Ocean before Columbus. In addition, the facial features of these statues are common to many Mande people. @Rafa15Jarocho That's right. I forgot about that. The Olmecs do have those 'Asian eyes'(or should we say 'Native American eyes') in some of their sculptures. Also, the Olmec heads don't represent actual proportions of a human face. If they did, the dudes eyes would be like two inches long, LOL.

But I think it's dumb that black people from the U.S want to claim them as black without knowning who they really were. Asians aren't claiming these people and neither should blacks. If u go to mexico u can see three distict phenotypes, Mayan, Spanish and The Olmec. Eye saw the same faces carved in stone walking around. Would even say that all the people with Olmec features are in positions of servitude to the spanish looking Mexicans. And the Maya looking people with larger pointier noses seemed to b the lowest cast but they still speak their language. Def caste system you must go to see. Also some N. Did you also know, that Columbus and his son both recorded in their journals that Moors, (Blacks) were on the Hispanola Isles when they arrived? Dr. Ivan Van Sertima in his book, THE CAME BEFORE COLUMBUS, asserts that the slave trade went both ways. Black slaves were taken from the Americas and the Carribbean Isles to West Africa where they were sold to European slave traders for Britain, France, and Spain. Moors already inhabited these nations, but this is another reason many are there today.

i have watched videos that try to convince either side, africans or not africans. and frankly, videos on both sides give biased explanations. some videos need approval to post comments. why are they afraid of healthy discussions that might bring up biases. i, myself, think the giant heads look african. even if they were african, doesnt mean they were the teachers who taught all of america writing, astronomy and everything the mayans ever knew.

If this were true, i, being mexican, would not really care, however there is simply no solid evidence, just simply obnoxious " proof " that is constantly put out. The only solid ground the afrocentrics have is their subjective oppinions on how these heads look. They do resemble blacks, however resemble polynesians much, more. Sure, Mexicans may have black blood in them, which is plausible, but according to Spencer Wells, this entire planet shares common ancestry to Africa regardless.

That means Africans didn't brought their civilization here. Other thing that I know is that the pyramids in Giza and the ones in Mexico(chichen itza etc...) are not for the same purposes. Africans in Anahuac(America) lived like Mexicans now in the USA. They adapted to their culture. I don't know for a fact to what extent Africans contributed to the Olmecs, or if at all. The documented history of my ancestors, the Mande' (Malinke'), however, does indicate that one of our Mansas (Kings) did order over two thousand of our boats (w/Sails) to cross the Atlantic, using a specific current that would have sent them to South America. According to history, they had enough food, water, and supplies to last for several years.

i love how jazz music is played in the background. i don't deny, that africa had it's influence in the America's actually, i know for a fact that they were here intermixing with the aborigines and the Asian migrants, but the portrayal that blacks today try to give them is extremely misleading. besides their looks(sort of), they were culturally so far from what is portrayed to today it isn't even funny. i highly doubt the olmec chief was getting down on the saxaphone.

I prefer to play with ideas rather than invest in them...makes it easier to update or discard them as my information improves. That said, at this point I tend to believe this video is basicly correct about the Olmecs being both Atlantean and African (and I am white, not Afro-Centrist). I also think that the first Americans were from the South Pacific per DNA evidence. Most people have at least a piece of the truth.

Please explain. There are two reasons why the voyage of Africans to Mexico is the most logical origin for the Olmecs. First, the route from Africa to MesoAmerica is closer than Polynesia. Secondly, there are currents which would take you directly from Africa to Mexico.
Now provide evidence that makes Polynesian influence better give the location of Polynesia in relation to the Gulf of Mexico.
