  • Don't leave me, Fairy Tale Forest! Don't go! NOOOOOOOOOOOO!

  • I went to Fairytale Forest and Gingerbread Castle the same day back in 1970 when I was 10. Some of the Lewis kids (Judy) and Mrs. Lewis and some of my family (the Heidgerds) of Saddle River. Our family was moving up to Connecticut that year so this was like a going away get-together day trip. So many neat places that our current society sees no point in. Pity... We won't be around much longer most likely-- Look around you at our sad, sad, (oh, and mad, and evil too) world around you NOW!!

  • Grew up off glen rd sparta lake.Sponza

  • was that the full track of the intrumental?when can iu get it ?

    per437

  • I went here as a kid when it was functioning, probably early 80's. It was friggin weird even back then. Sad to see independent attraction closing one by one.

  • I remember going here as a child, so sad that its gone! They should have sold the the things left inside, instead of leaving it to ruin.

  • go there at night scary ass shit happens

  • @PhatySvn what kind of shit?

  • @gorkysire paranormal activity and satanic cults do sacrafices and rituals back in the woods

  • @PhatySvn what about ghosts and bizarre monsters?

  • awww they shut it down that is sad oh wish theyd have sold the fairy dolls on ebay they looked so beautiful id have bought them

  • Creepy as hell but I love it!

  • u want to cry why did they shut farytale forest down! noooooo i rember my grandma taking me there wen i was little

  • This place should have never gone out of business. These type theme parks are history. They featured old fashioned fun. Parades with American Flags and their own mascot , "Hot Diggity". Opened by German immigrants who brought their craftsmanship of clockworking and carousels (gears) by bringing to life the animation of fairytale characters. The county should have saved this gem.

  • This is the worst part about growing up: seeing all the things you loved as a kid fade away.

Being an adult isn't that cool anyway :(

  • This makes me so sad. I loved going to this place, especially for the Christmas celebrations. It is such a shame that they felt they couldn't make it work.

  • my dad went here as a kid in the 60's and then he brought me here in the 90's. good times, good memories.

  • I loved that place. It was so cool pressing the buttons and seeing everything. RIP Fairy Tale Forest :(

  • Me too. That brought back a lot of memories.

Wait...do I know the person who posted before me?? Hmmm....

  • Thanks for this video. This brings back so many memories. I remember going to this place when I was little.

  • I think I've been there before

  • This is so sad... I can remember going here so many times as a child... I can't believe no one's done anything to preserve it...

  • I remember this from own childhood and then taking my nephews there back in the 80s. It's so sad to see it in this state.

  • wow... i remember going here with my family when I was four or five... don't remember too much, but I can't believe it's closed now...

  • very bad(the forest) ''de efteling" in Holland is much more better!

  • I remember having my 5th b-day there and my aunt taking me there(R.I.P Aunt Ditzy)I'm 12 now...I believed it closed in 02/03.we cant keep annything opened in N.J, just like gingerbread castle!

  • when did this place close down? becuse i rember going there as a kid and im only 20 years old so i cant imagine it closed that long ago.

  • So sad when things like this get lost

  • Aww this brings back memories. :) I used to live in that apartment when I was a kid, like 13 years ago.

  • What was it anyway? I think saw something like that once here in Canada in British Columbia.

  • It's a crying shame the community didn't save it. This place is one of the very few of the fairytale parks that were left in the US. These were made by usually Germans immigrants that were watchmakers. They are the ones responsible for making the gears and machinery that moved the various fairytale characters. Too bad. I took my child there five years ago and wanted to return. The town's commerce didn't even know that it was out of business!! What a shame to see this piece of history go

  • i miss this place the kind i would wanna take my son to know much like the catskill game farm we were able to make the last season of before the auctions

  • Nice work. Check out the short film I made at Fairy Tale Forest...

  • This was one of my favorite places to be taken to as a kid- I remember having "Wild West City" pushed on me (more masculine, I guess) but loving Fairy Tale Forest best. This video gave me a chill. Great job and thanks for documenting it.

  • Great choice of music! So sad indeed to see another fantastic NJ place gone to a lousy storage facility! The should just leave the figures and little houses and build AROUND them! Now that would get attention!

  • This is great - thanks! Went there a lot as a little kid and had the opportunity to take two of my kids there just a few years ago. It was right before Christmas - freezing cold, but the place was all done up for the holidays. A big snowman and Rudolph in costume were there, etc. When you looked in the little windows, basically they had just stuck Santa hats on the dolls and figures inside and maybe hung a few stockings, etc. But it still brought back great memories!

  • I've been here plenty of times. What is weird is that there are no 'NO TRESPASSING' signs.Nothing 'spooky',you just get a huge sense of being alone.

  • i loved this place i was so scared when i was little cuz i saw a guy running around in a jester costume

  • that looks like a fun place I wish they had a place like that when I was a kid!

  • A lot of it was already torn down and replaced with storage units. A few things in the back are stilll here and the main bulilding.

  • So sad. :(

  • whats the theme music?

  • The music is from some website, it's just some royalty free music.

  • I used to go there as a kid. I spent my summers at Lake Hopatcong and this had been a family tradition along with trips to the Gingerbread Castle. It's sad to see it in such disrepair! I guess today's kids are too sophisticated to appreciate places like this. RIP, FTF...

  • Check out my Weird NJ Destinations video for Gingerbread Castle.

  • Yes, BF. I did see that one too about the castle. So glad I have my memories of these places. I also have some pics taken at the castle of the train and the displays outside the castle. The gift shop there was awesome! I have a set of pepper and salt shakers (Hansel & Gretel) we bought there. We always bought those huge punch balls filled with sand. Anyone remember those?

  • i saw that every time i passed it

i used to live in greenpond nj and so when i went to a place i past it and saw it all down:( i never been to it but ive seen it open with people and cars there but the before i moved it closed :(
