  • it's no wonder we're all mad these days

  • This and Stopit and Tidyup scared the shit out of me as a kid.

  • @dorkdoll alistair is the dog!

  • look-a-like rebeca brooks WHO IS ALISTAR THOUGH?? the mystery remains??

  • look-a-like rebeca brooks ;spot on

  • @phaasch yes she did...and alistair enjoyed a career as David blunkett's guide dog

  • Charley says: don't take barbituates before making cartoons.

  • I AM CRYSTAL TIPS.

  • It's like Andy Warhol and Mary Quant vomited all over a piece of videotape.

  • They used to show these on the Captain Kangaroo Show when i was a child. I loved them.

  • They repeated episodes on Channel 4 at 1am on Sat mornings for the acid heads

  • Oliver Postgate. That was a good trip - still is..

  • Lol my parents are calling me Crystal Tips because they remember her from there childhood iv got really curly hair just like her but not the purple xD

  • Crystal Tipps is a very porn star name

  • @trimmytrab Shame on you, you smutty person (heheh)

  • I vaguely remember seeing this as a child, (born in '67).

  • @ 3.46 it looks a bit like the dog is showing his knob albeit from a different position

  • oh wow wtf kinda smile is that dog

  • omg!! what a bitch she was??!!

  • Wow , i actually remember watching some episodes of this show .

  • Wasn't this cartoon shown on Pinwheel?

  • I thought Hectors House was strange, but a weird girl with purple hair and a Dog that could walk on it's back legs, I'm going to take some LSD to get back to normality.

  • oh man I watched this as a kid

I watched the video so muchhhhh that it just stopped working

I was so sad, I dont care how weird it was I actually freaking LOVED it ahah

  • man this is freekin wierd

  • I remember watching this when I was growing up in the 1970's.

It seems to me that the writers were on an acid trip when they were writing the episodes.

  • LOL Gazmol...... I actually look a lot like Crystal tips, perhaps this is the root of all evil. Loved watching it again tho. Thanx

  • @Banshea1 WOW I ve been searching for a woman who looks like Crystal Tipps since I watched this as a kid . In case youre interested I look like Bluto ( I really do ) from Popeye !

  • Oddly I remember thinking they were quite boring as a child... but always watched it for the music - which I still adore.

  • 3:28 looks like he is having a shit.

  • I agree gazmological. I think it was the same with alot of the programmes for this age group 5-10 (?). I remember alot of them actually bored the pants off me. Created by adults without pre-screening to the kids perhaps?

  • I hated this as a kid. It's like a very bad acid trip. Crystal looks like an evil man in drag. Why doesn't she talk? Is she a mute? The stories are unbelievably banal and depressing. I suffered from depresion later in life and now i realise why. I point the finger of blame squarely at this shite.

  • Oh come on you cant blame Chystal Tipps for you depression! LOL Personally I blame Captain Pugwash for my on goatee trauma ... or maybe its just the hormones ...

  • @gazmological , I loathed this kiddie pap too as a child. Crystal and her dog both disturbed me. I couldn't agree with your post more.

  • @gazmological the dog looks squarly

  • @gazmological Yep. youre right. It looks as the makers of this show were on LSD, and its quite depressing for me too. I dont know why there are no voices for the girl and dog, and No voices = crap.

  • @Mum2Boys I agree. I was always disappointed and depressed when this came on. Although I think all British children's TV between c1968 to 1975 has a slightly trippy feel to it (Fingerbobs???). Still loved most of it then and it's great to waste time on youtube enjoying the nostalgia

  • @gazmological fucking right on this shit and that yellow submarine bollocks gave me nightmares for years!!!

  • The dogs grin looks like the face of death!!

    Scary

  • this brings back memories...

  • Crystal Tips was created by my mum's cousin. I met him once when I was very young Graham McCallum was his name i think. I'm 40 and grew up with the series. Lovely to watch again. Thanks

  • OMG! lol.. ive neva seen this b4 coz im 15.. nd my dad calls this person we know crystal tipps.. i was like wtf ?? knw i know why xD lol

  • crystal tipps is a ledgend!!! lol

  • 1976/7, anyhow its kind alike Angela Anaconda without the crap dialogue

  • more like 72-3, definately pre-school viewing for me and I started in 1975.

Crystal Tips has hair like Janis Joplin

  • @darganx And when her hair got wet, she looks like Cher! :)

  • Wow. That takes me back. Thanks for posting this.

  • That takes me back :)

  • OMG!! 0:55

  • Never thought I would see the day when Crystal had straight hair 3:57 How modern! Now I'm growing weary of every girl and her mother with straight hair.

  • i came home from school one day with extreme curls in my hair, my mum goes to me you look like crystal tips from that old program n i was like wtf! from this video.. i look like crystal tips.. well all apart from the colour of her hair.. :L

  • dats egsatly wat happened to me !!!!!! ha ha

  • this show is so scary

  • no dog can put a bucket on a door

  • OMG, I'm 13 so I never saw it but my mum always says I look like Crystal Tipps. Now I see why (I have very curly, frizzy, crazy hair lol).

  • yes im from your mums age and anyone with long frizzy hair was called crystal tipps... but crystal tipps was a cool chick!

  • is there anymore i love it

  • This is such a reminder of my childhood in the 70s - Searched for postings of the show about 5yrs ago and found nothing; so, brilliant to find this!

    Love it!

  • I'm 21 and Crystal Tips was repeated on Channel 4 , early morning when I was little...I LOVED it... it was of it's time...but I didn't care...I used to love James the Cat aswell!

  • You'd never be able to include a scene where a bucket is placed on top of a door these days. Oh no, not in Nanny-state Britain. Might hurt someone.

  • God, I remember this series from ages ago. Thanks for posting it.

  • I agree with the Pop Art thing someone said. Very of its time. This made me look up Hector's House, Mary Mungo & Midge and even the "Charly Says!" adverts. Memories eh? Ahhh!

  • Oops! Better make that "Charlie says!"

  • Seems to me perhaps the girl crystal tipps was smoking something or taking LSD ??? She seems a space cadet with eyes like that.

  • TIMS GF!

  • actually pretty good when you watch it again. Nice to see you could get away with throwing a custard pie in a dogs face in those days without get mauled to death!

  • Scared the shit out of me when i was a kid. She's got the blank stare of a fucking psycho...

    Creepy

  • wow, I even remember this episode. The '70s were really very weird, weren't they? was everyone psychologically disturbed or something?

  • no, we are now though, which is why what you say seems to be true.

    seriously.

  • No, they were just spaced out on something ;-)

  • @aristagirl more like the availability of drugs was to blame....

  • ohmygod !! i remember watching this when i was like ..3 or something lol.. i so loved this !! lol

  • I liked it, for the arty quality.

    Very very 70's and strange.

    Find and post more please!

  • Like others here, I hated this.

    It was so fucking pointless.

I put it on a par with 'Ivor The Engine' and 'Noggin The Nog' for shiteness.

Even 'Mary, Mungo & Midge' was better than this.

Oh, 'Moomins' was shite as well.

  • Ivor the Engine, "you can't take a donkey on a branch line Ivor", showed millions of young impressionable children, the rights and wrongs of taking a donkey on the railways. How could that be considered pointless?

  • Totally GROOVY! Thanks to the CBS network & the Captain Kangaroo show by showing this gem from Britian!

  • Groovy. And nice hair. :)

  • I hated this show as a kid. Nice to be able to see it again now though.

  • It was one of those 5 minute shows in the slot before the 6 o'clock news. I never liked it either. I think Rhubarb and Custard was contemporary with this? That was much better!

  • I've always considered this THE worst kids show EVER. I always thought it was just so drab and lifeless.

    "Worst kids show EVER!" (CBG)

  • Was this really on Captain Kangaroo back in the early 70's? If so, that would explain why it looks so familiar to me.

  • YES it was ;)

  • interesting to see it again - but at the time I didn't rate it - and still don't!!

  • I'm with you 100 %, I watched it but was always a bit disturbed by the proceedings.

  • This show was a part of Captain Kangaroo! Doesn't anyone remember that? This was early 70's possibly late 60's.

  • my friend lorraine van es in primary school reminds me of cystal tips, i always wanted to be like her! i wonder where she is now, thanks for posting this, great memories!!

  • is it just me or does crystal tipps look like a murderer?

  • Fantastic to see this again -I never knew her hair was blue - we only had black and white telly!

  • thanks for posting this... yeah, you were all right, it was on pbs, and on the canada stations too. but does anyone know about what year? i'm guessing the early 70s, like '72 or '73?

  • Wow, so happy to see this again! Wow, & again, Wow! Could watch this all day - off to find Mary, Mungo & Midge - Wow!

  • On the other hand, I'm thinking that maybe I saw this in Canada, on CBC television around 1973 or 1974. I was about 7 or 8 years old then.

  • This looks extremely familiar to me somehow. And yet, it couldn't be, as I am American and have never been to England in my life.

I wonder, was this show ever on American TV in the very early 70's, perhaps on PBS? I just can't get over how familiar this cartoon seems to me. Very strange.

I do love the graphic style though. Very "Pop Art" with a touch of "Yellow Submarine".

  • another classic from the past brill brill thx

  • No blank face here me dear. This is one of my all time faves and noone remembers it at all!!! I even had a book from the series when i was liddle!!Thank you thank you thank you for the memories!

    andrew

  • I had a lil tear in me eye when seeing this ghost from the past, Crystaltips and Alistar Genius kids T.V. thanks for posting this xxx

  • Great show :) I love Hilary Hayton's psychedelic animation style, but I always thought the show should have been narrated. They should make more episodes, either way! :)

  • Crystal needs a pair of GHDs!!

  • i know a bus driver that looks like her.

  • Great upload! thanks, I'll fave it :o)

  • WOW! You blew my mind.

I moved from England to the US in 1979. I haven't seen one of these episodes since. I probably haven't thought about them - conciously - in almost as long. Seeing them again brings a rush of memories and sensations - sort of like being 10 again - and re-opens a door to the forgotten cultural experiences that informed so much of my development.

Can't begin to thank you enough.

  • Thanks for this!! Love it!

  • Thank you so so so much. I have been describing Crystal Tips for years to blank faces. I miss Captain Kangaroo. This video made me finally fall for YouTube. Thank you ever so much!

  • I've been doing the same thing. They give you the blank WTF stare. Wasn't it Rosanna Danna who had the same hair? That's it. Ima get a perm RIGHT NOW!!!! Wheeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I REMEMBER THIS!!! I'm only 17 but my mum used to show me cartoons from the 70's and 80's... Crystal Tipps and Alistair, James the Cat, Family Ness, Transylvania Petshop, Shoetown, Stoppit and Tidyup, Roobard and Custard.... could go on forever! xxx

  • I loved Crystal Tipps and Alistar, especially the music. I cassette taped the music from all the programs and still have them (this was before video, etc). She used to come on Captain Kangaroo. Oh, to be a child again!!!

  • brillian upload...yep, this was what pretending to be ill and staying off school was for. She looks like the man with a very long chin off teletext.

  • Haven't seen this for ... thirty years?! Thank you!

  • she looks like a girl i used to go out with... in fact it might be her. LMAO!!!

  • YESSSSS!!! Thank you! I have been looking for this!
