Lol my parents are calling me Crystal Tips because they remember her from there childhood iv got really curly hair just like her but not the purple xD
I thought Hectors House was strange, but a weird girl with purple hair and a Dog that could walk on it's back legs, I'm going to take some LSD to get back to normality.
@Banshea1 WOW I ve been searching for a woman who looks like Crystal Tipps since I watched this as a kid . In case youre interested I look like Bluto ( I really do ) from Popeye !
I agree gazmological. I think it was the same with alot of the programmes for this age group 5-10 (?). I remember alot of them actually bored the pants off me. Created by adults without pre-screening to the kids perhaps?
I hated this as a kid. It's like a very bad acid trip. Crystal looks like an evil man in drag. Why doesn't she talk? Is she a mute? The stories are unbelievably banal and depressing. I suffered from depresion later in life and now i realise why. I point the finger of blame squarely at this shite.
Oh come on you cant blame Chystal Tipps for you depression! LOL Personally I blame Captain Pugwash for my on goatee trauma ... or maybe its just the hormones ...
@gazmological Yep. youre right. It looks as the makers of this show were on LSD, and its quite depressing for me too. I dont know why there are no voices for the girl and dog, and No voices = crap.
@Mum2Boys I agree. I was always disappointed and depressed when this came on. Although I think all British children's TV between c1968 to 1975 has a slightly trippy feel to it (Fingerbobs???). Still loved most of it then and it's great to waste time on youtube enjoying the nostalgia
Crystal Tips was created by my mum's cousin. I met him once when I was very young Graham McCallum was his name i think. I'm 40 and grew up with the series. Lovely to watch again. Thanks
Never thought I would see the day when Crystal had straight hair 3:57 How modern! Now I'm growing weary of every girl and her mother with straight hair.
i came home from school one day with extreme curls in my hair, my mum goes to me you look like crystal tips from that old program n i was like wtf! from this video.. i look like crystal tips.. well all apart from the colour of her hair.. :L
I'm 21 and Crystal Tips was repeated on Channel 4 , early morning when I was little...I LOVED it... it was of it's time...but I didn't care...I used to love James the Cat aswell!
I agree with the Pop Art thing someone said. Very of its time. This made me look up Hector's House, Mary Mungo & Midge and even the "Charly Says!" adverts. Memories eh? Ahhh!
actually pretty good when you watch it again. Nice to see you could get away with throwing a custard pie in a dogs face in those days without get mauled to death!
Ivor the Engine, "you can't take a donkey on a branch line Ivor", showed millions of young impressionable children, the rights and wrongs of taking a donkey on the railways. How could that be considered pointless?
It was one of those 5 minute shows in the slot before the 6 o'clock news. I never liked it either. I think Rhubarb and Custard was contemporary with this? That was much better!
my friend lorraine van es in primary school reminds me of cystal tips, i always wanted to be like her! i wonder where she is now, thanks for posting this, great memories!!
thanks for posting this... yeah, you were all right, it was on pbs, and on the canada stations too. but does anyone know about what year? i'm guessing the early 70s, like '72 or '73?
This looks extremely familiar to me somehow. And yet, it couldn't be, as I am American and have never been to England in my life.
I wonder, was this show ever on American TV in the very early 70's, perhaps on PBS? I just can't get over how familiar this cartoon seems to me. Very strange.
I do love the graphic style though. Very "Pop Art" with a touch of "Yellow Submarine".
No blank face here me dear. This is one of my all time faves and noone remembers it at all!!! I even had a book from the series when i was liddle!!Thank you thank you thank you for the memories!
Great show :) I love Hilary Hayton's psychedelic animation style, but I always thought the show should have been narrated. They should make more episodes, either way! :)
I moved from England to the US in 1979. I haven't seen one of these episodes since. I probably haven't thought about them - conciously - in almost as long. Seeing them again brings a rush of memories and sensations - sort of like being 10 again - and re-opens a door to the forgotten cultural experiences that informed so much of my development.
Thank you so so so much. I have been describing Crystal Tips for years to blank faces. I miss Captain Kangaroo. This video made me finally fall for YouTube. Thank you ever so much!
I've been doing the same thing. They give you the blank WTF stare. Wasn't it Rosanna Danna who had the same hair? That's it. Ima get a perm RIGHT NOW!!!! Wheeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I REMEMBER THIS!!! I'm only 17 but my mum used to show me cartoons from the 70's and 80's... Crystal Tipps and Alistair, James the Cat, Family Ness, Transylvania Petshop, Shoetown, Stoppit and Tidyup, Roobard and Custard.... could go on forever! xxx
I loved Crystal Tipps and Alistar, especially the music. I cassette taped the music from all the programs and still have them (this was before video, etc). She used to come on Captain Kangaroo. Oh, to be a child again!!!
it's no wonder we're all mad these days

Like others here, I hated this.
It was so fucking pointless.
I put it on a par with 'Ivor The Engine' and 'Noggin The Nog' for shiteness.
Even 'Mary, Mungo & Midge' was better than this.
Oh, 'Moomins' was shite as well.
