Not having a knife would make for some particularly lame standoffs and making the knife a perk or secondary would effectively take away that perk or secondary option since everyone would be using it, the slash on the knife is fine they just need to shorten it's lunge and fix it's hit detection.
In my opinion, if you need to sound whore that bad than you don't have much skill. I loved the game until the patch came out because the majority of the people weren't at a disadvantage and it allowed people to use perks other than ninja all the freakin time.

@jeffzalonka my headset doesnt allow me to teleport through bullets. if u dont want to be heard, use ninja. there is no counter for panic knifers. if there was a perk for it, i would use it. maybe make knifing a 2 hit kill or something if you use the perk or something...that way there is a perk to prevent sound whoring and to prevent panic knifers. everyone is happy. notice how i didnt get all defensive? you should really see someone about those angers issues...lol

Ghost should not have to compete with warlord and slight of hand. Maybe switch it to the thrid slot and make it compete with ninja so that when they fix the footsteps you can't get them both. The kills streaks adding to themselves killed mwf2 for me. You should have to kill ppl with your gun it is a fpSHOOTER for gods sake, shoot people.
@cesar00k 1. claymores are not useless, they are great catching people around corners, because they have such a large blast radius, and go off so quickly.
2. There is plenty of need to sound whore if you don't camp, you can still play smart if you play offensively.
3. They patched the voting system, you can only play the same map twice in a row at the most.

The Nuketown thing is so true. I like the level just as much as everyone else but I like it more when it pops up after plying the other levels for a while. I think I played it like 12 times in a row the other day, I know I could have switched lobbies but the lobby was full of noobs and I was raping. Plus, even when I switch lobbies I wind up in another Nuketown loop, so whats the point?

I really like Black ops, all they really need to do to make it great is remove the lunge on the knife and fix the spawns maybe make the RC car 5 kills.

yeah, it'll be a whole new game when they put on these patches,but they really need to get on it already. i never thought i would wish for a spawn system like mw2,but that would be a big step up. my 6 year old brother could make better spawns, it's absolutely fuckin PATHETIC Treyarch, come on
I think the sound whoring would be less important to you if the spawns were less absurd. One game I had 4 guys spawn behind me, one after the other, I killed all of them and then turned to face front because I assumed the spawn would flip but it didn't and I got shot in the back. Next game the opposite situation happens, it flips as soon as I get close to the spawn. It needs to be consistent, one way or another.

Sound whoring is a cheap way to get kills and promotes camping. This game has been so refreshing compared to the campsite that MW2 turned in.
It should be a level playing field for all, and not be patched because people are complaining that they can't hear people on the other side of the map.

Personally I don't want footsteps patched. It put everyone on a level playing field and if it is patched I hope sound whiting is only available with ninja pro. My K/D is higher than wings ATM.

Couldn't agree more. Sound whoring isn't a way out for players with headsets. It's an aspect of the game and series. It's a skillset to move around the map and choose the right perks.
Like ADS walking if the silent footsteps perk isn't completely silent.
Wings you are an amazing player. No one in their right mind would dispute that fact. I wish I could play like you dude and I did for a little bit of Modern Warfare 2 (it took awhile to develop the patience). However, besides the bad spawns your learning what you put the rest of the players who play against you through. I kinda think its good for you to go through a little bit of a hard spell just because to get one kill on you for us takes getting 10-20 deaths on the average gamer lol
I dont want flak jacket to be immunity to knifing. I want the knife to be a 2 hit kill or be a secondary you have to select. I dont want to have to have flak jacket on all my classes. That will be my new stopping power.
They're fixing this nuketown issue where people won't be able to vote for the same map twice in a row. Yes Wings you care too much about your KD why? I think everybody knows you're really good player and you play to win which means you put yourself out there more to cap flags. I think it's an alright game. Nice that it's balanced, or they at least tried to make it balanced. I still don't understand why treyarch needs to make one smg that dominates lol, i was hoping this game woould get rid of UMPS, but ak74 is startin to take it's place. I popped mw2 in last night and had more fun on that honestly.
I was one of the biggest critics of the game, and still to this day I refuse to play even 1 more TDM, because the spawns are just fucking stupid. Search and Destroy or capture the flag are the 2 dominant game types right now for me. Well that is until a server disconnects, or my PS3 freezes... no bad spawns on SnD, and CTF is great because there is no K/D count, so everyone goes for the win rather than whoring K/D.

I really like Black ops, all they really need to do to make it great is remove the lunge on the knife and fix the spawns maybe make the RC car 5 kills.

sound whoring definitely needs to be brought back... or at least boosted because I can't hear shit. In MW2 when I couldn't hear shit I at least had the radar, now when I get a spy plane up its useless because everyone's using ghost... + I can't hear. It's tough, I'm sitting at a 2.3 and fluctuate to about 2.6 and back and forth. I feel like I'd be much higher with sound whoring. I agree with WoR

Surely no sound whoring is fairer as it puts everyone on a level playing field. If you're sick of playing already because you don't have the advantage you used to have, that's how the rest of us (who cant afford/don't want to buy special headsets) felt on MW2. Still a great vid though wings

@johnnyc3po1 There are broken perks because the footsteps are not set to the correct audio level. It has nothing to do with fairness. Also, if you can afford a 360/ps3 and bo, you can afford a $20 headset.

@serbianstud16 the reason the sound of footsteps is so low is that treyarch wanted ninja pro to be more valuable but they accidentally coded the sound as too quiet they have addmited that themselves. Also I don't feel sound whiting is unfair if someone wants a headset they can get one it's no different than someone having an hd tv it is something that u have a choice of getting or not.

And the difference between using headsets and Tv's to listen is that, Footsteps ARE obviously WAY more prominent in Headsets than my Tv. In Mw2 I had to strain my ears to hear the footsteps of someone within commando range. But If they do increase sound alot Treyarch will have had my mother purchase Turtle Beaches for Christmas.

I think the sound whoring would be less important to you if the spawns were less absurd. One game I had 4 guys spawn behind me, one after the other, I killed all of them and then turned to face front because I assumed the spawn would flip but it didn't and I got shot in the back. Next game the opposite situation happens, it flips as soon as I get close to the spawn. It needs to be consistent, one way or another.

Sound whoring is a cheap way to get kills and promotes camping. This game has been so refreshing compared to the campsite that MW2 turned in.
It should be a level playing field for all, and not be patched because people are complaining that they can't hear people on the other side of the map.

first off, good gameplay. second, this game would be better for the exact reasons that your saying: footsteps and spawns. im not nearly as a sound whorer (?) look you but being able to hear footsteps in general was insanely helpful. then the spawns are sooo terrible that my whole team was on oneside and yet the other team was still spawning behind us? i mean, seriously how does that happen? still. i love the game compared to MW2 but i wont be able to play this game if everything isnt fixed

@isthereanysense THey could use the noob tubes and get free kills even if they had shitty aim, they didnt even have to move! plus painkiller and final stand, it was reallly noob friendly. We dont want noob friendly, there's combat training for that. i spent 350$ on a headset, and just because someone else doesnt have that money doesn't mean my investment shouldnt do anything. the footsteps need to go back up to counteract ghost and getting panic knifed

if they put sound horing back in i will never buy another copy of COD i have it for both systems and as soon as i find out that it is in i will be trading in both of them.... and i will never ever buy a copy of. My KD on both system is over 1.88 and thats without sound horing. it is all about seeing the enemy and shooting them...not campin and listening for footsteps. how do you have fun playing the game.. i hate fucking campers..

Couldn't agree more. Sound whoring isn't a way out for players with headsets. It's an aspect of the game and series. It's a skillset to move around the map and choose the right perks.
Like ADS walking if the silent footsteps perk isn't completely silent.

Wings you are an amazing player. No one in their right mind would dispute that fact. I wish I could play like you dude and I did for a little bit of Modern Warfare 2 (it took awhile to develop the patience). However, besides the bad spawns your learning what you put the rest of the players who play against you through. I kinda think its good for you to go through a little bit of a hard spell just because to get one kill on you for us takes getting 10-20 deaths on the average gamer lol

I think it's an alright game. Nice that it's balanced, or they at least tried to make it balanced. I still don't understand why treyarch needs to make one smg that dominates lol, i was hoping this game woould get rid of UMPS, but ak74 is startin to take it's place. what i think of the game: it sucks, why? for the last week I didnt have any kind of fun experience with it, why? directX 9c errors on PC
game doesnt launch, 60 bucks of bytes sitting on my harddrive
i postet my problem on every forum that hase something to do with CoD, i sent an e-mail to Activision support -> nothing
so far im giving the game 1/10 points (at least i got a fine amount of 11gigs for my 60 bucks)

I was one of the biggest critics of the game, and still to this day I refuse to play even 1 more TDM, because the spawns are just fucking stupid. Search and Destroy or capture the flag are the 2 dominant game types right now for me. Well that is until a server disconnects, or my PS3 freezes... no bad spawns on SnD, and CTF is great because there is no K/D count, so everyone goes for the win rather than whoring K/D.
