  • Please consider taking some voice lessons. Your voice is so iirritating I was unable to watch all of this video.

  • @jensen1971x I'll look into that! In the meantime, please look into the social norms of kindness. :)

  • @ahmedgurgi You fail biology 101.

  • In the summer many women in some jobs wear loose fitting dresses etc while men are still required to wear suits, so it works both ways but feminists always 'conveniebtky' forget this. Men earn more as they do full time jobs more often, we do the dangerous jobs that pay more and we are more likely to do shift work such as nights which pay more. It's not discrimination, it's choices women make. Please put this argument to bed.

  • @UnknownUserName4267

I get my hopes up when I hear someone like this saying "hey men have problems too, it's not just about women" but then they talk about the "pay gap" (which is more like "the earnings gap") and ruin it.

  • @ 2:32 yes and statistics will also show you WHY men on AVERAGE earn more than women. Just because 2 people do the same job, it doesn't mean they should be paid the same amount. There are other factors like how much experience you have, how long you've been with the company, level of education, number of hours worked, etc... When you control for all those factors, women actually earn more than men. Men also make up 93% of all work related deaths.

  • I don't understand equality. There are significant physical limitation between men and women were equality is impossible. "Anything you can do I can do better", yet you are not allowed to put your hands on a women like you would a man. So why let them be cops, firefighters, soldiers ect...cognitively yes we are all equal, but physically we simply are not.

  • 2:34 that has been thouroughly disproven. its not gender inequailty its cause of the choices men make that women dont. its not sexism or glass ceiling or any of that other shit. sorry 'ladies' youre not the perpetual victims you claim you are

  • make a guy get pregnant than we can talk about equality, while in the social sense there equal in the physical composition there not and that's final stop trying to make women into men and men into women.

  • @ahmedgurgi

thats between you women, god and your girl 'mother' nature. us men have no say in who gets pregnant so that non sequitr isnt going to work

  • @TENNSUMITSUMA I never say we have a say in who gets pregnant, I said make a guy get pregnant and then we talk about equality?

  • @themunchkym

If there is any gender inequality it's the men that are feeling it the most. 80% of the homeless are men. Women are half as many in unemployment. So talking about pay gap to any man who has no job is going to fall on deaf ears. Besides that, the truth is that some jobs can be performed better by men. So if you go out looking to find pay gaps it won't be hard to find!

  • The only problem with your assertion that women face more psychologically damaging stereotypes is that that information can be used to maintain women's status as permanent victims. Once one becomes a permanent victim, they also become a tyrant, because they use their victim status as a weapon to emotionally manipulate men.

  • ok people men and women are totally different genders. u ever heard of any women on earth that can hit hard as mike tyson?? how many women in the wnba dunk?? in the in nba %90 of players dunk and these players do the same training as the wnba.. in the mlb an averge pitcher could throw 90- 100mph fast ball. women throw max 65-70mph fastballs...fastest ranner swimmer r men. y they dont put females in the nfl or ufc with males?? bez it will be boring and unfair. this is not sexists its reallity.

  • @heyyo1987 What you're talking about is PURELY physical. If you'll notice, I never mentioned physical equalities. You need to consider MENTAL equality.

  • @cypher988 They should not have a different standard of success because they are the same mentally. Your "bench press" scenario does not hold up as that is a PHYSICAL attribute

I am a behaviorist and I believe that if girls were told at a young age that they should be the ones to do "manly" things, then they would gain a level of strength closer to that of a man. I believe that everything is about how you were raised.

And, no. I do not consider myself a feminist. I consider myself an equalist.

  • @cypher988 Women WERE, in fact, oppressed. They were not allowed to have certain choices and that is, by definition, oppressing. However, did you WATCH my video? Because I said in it that degrading men is EQUALLY wrong.

My standard for equality is not for success, it is for CHOICES. Such as the choice to stray from social gender norms, a choice that is allowed, but is certainly not encouraged. The fact that this even has to be a conversation shows that things are NOT okay yet.

  • @stamstuff In no way am I not appreciative of the rights that women in America have, but that DOES NOT mean that our culture is not gravely flawed. Women are judged SO MUCH by appearance that women who do not wear makeup are less likely to move up in a professional world. It's A PROBLEM.

  • @themunchkym Well, thats the real deal in the US

    watch?v=cBhZ27CaWe4

  • @themunchkym Well, as for your Ameica

    watch?v=cBhZ27CaWe4

  • Congratulations. You are a very convincing transsexual.

But seriously stop whining about your mangina. And grow up.

  • @Soveraine If this is to me, you make little sense as I'm not transsexual. But nice try! :)

  • @themunchkym What ever you say, synagogue dweller name "Tim" !

  • In my school the boys had to tuck in their shirts, wear ties and always wear trousers, the girls uniform was so flexible :L

Also, my friend applied for a job at superdry, and they had to attach a photo to their CV, because they only hire pretty people! O_O

  • That story about the woman who was fired for not wearing makeup reminds me of Abercrombie and Fitch's policy on employees. They pick their employees based on appearance. I had a friend who worked there and she said they were actually told that they were chosen because they were the best-looking applicants. Also, the women are only allowed to wear nail polish if it's pale pink or a French manicure (or something like that--I don't remember the specifics.)

  • I hate that most women feel obliged to wear make-up. So many would look much nicer with a natural look, anyway.

I think a lot of feminists end up being sexist towards men.

  • I love when women rant about make up.

  • @themunchkym Kym! There is a great video on youtube that might help you with your paper. Its about vintage makeup, but she also talks about the advertising that went along with it, and what was happeneing at the time. If you want to see it type ' Lisa Eldridge Vintage Makeup Part One' and it should come up. Hope this helped!

  • its like black people complaining about slavery

  • i'm so happy to hear that i am not the only one who feels abut feminisets in this way!

  • Great video Kym. This is why I've avoided taking a lot of Gender issues classes. Because every one that I've taken so far ends up becoming a class about bashing the male population and talking about how repressed women were for hundreds of years. And it's the constant sexism against males that drives me crazy. Putting guys down is just as sexist as putting girls down. I do consider myself a feminist. Just not an extremist.

  • Women make less than men doing the same jobs. Only if the men have more experience in that job. Women cycle jobs more often than do men and women are not as prone to asking for raises as men are. Saying a statement like, "men still make more than women doing the same job in the US," is inaccurate. It's not true.

And gender bias is more traumatic to women? Since when? Men and women can experience the same trauma men just show it differently. I call bullshit on that.

  • The bartender thing is crazy but, I don't have the same problems with makeup as you seem to. I think you might find it really interesting that lipstick started out as a very feminist thing. It had to with women's unwillingness to conform to what was considered "proper."

Also, I think you're taking a very stereotypical example of what a feminist is and basing your opinion off that.

  • Hey Kym,

Great video! I hate people who just divide gender stereotypes further by saying women are always one way and men are always another. It annoys me immensely. I agree with your points, but I think it's funny how many great ladies I've met who will never identify themselves as feminist because of a feminist stereotype. Makes me sad, to be honest. Nice job.

  • I know so many girls that complain about sexism and say that we're all equal and complain about men putting us down, but then these same girls can turn around and be just as sexist towards men. That annoys me, we're all equal, men aren't necessarily better than women and women aren't necessarily better than men, we're different in our own ways, but no sex is better than the other.

  • the ancient Egyptians use to crush beetles and use the dust as eye shadow :D

  • I'm not totally against make-up because I wear it once in a while, but it really annoys me when girls are all "Oh my god, I would never leave my house without any make-up on". Or sometimes there are girls that wear so much make-up on a daily basis, that when you see them without make-up, they look like a total different person... Yeah, that's not okay.

Btw, please respond to my msg! :/

  • heck yeah there is gender inequality, try being a guy a wearing a short skirt to work.

  • if you got your boobs out on a video.... you would get a million views #Tip #Trolololol <3 :)

  • I like your ramblings.

  • Men suck though.

  • hahaha those random embarassing bits are always awsome though! The rest of the video was great too your opinions are so well stated its great :D

  • You're back! :) Not that I don't like you vloging, because I do, but I've really missed these kinds of videos! :)

  • I just started uni doing biology and the subject of Rosalind Franklin came up (she was the woman who provided the data for the double helix to Watson and Crick). She didn't get the nobel prize for her work. Now Watson and Crick was called sexist for this but actually Watson and Crick just hated her because she was such a bitch. Ironically she was also quite sexist to women.

  • Argh >.< Gender inequalities bug me, that story about the bar lady sounds awful D:

Also, I've worn heels while vlogging before xD It's unpleasant.

  • why are all the comments on this video so lung? when did all the munchkym-lovers turn into physiologists?

  • I'm not opposed to women wearing makeup - in fact I wear it myself sometimes- but it does worry me when people cannot, not, wear makeup. I have friends who will not go to the corner shop without makeup on and not only is it upsetting that they are so uncomfortable in their own skin that they feel like they need to cover it up this much, it's also counterproductive. Makeup makes them break out, so in order to cover this, they wear more, which makes them break out more, and its all a big circle.

  • Just saying is it not sexist to guys the way girls can hit them they cant hit back they have to hold open a door ect?

    Aswell

Why cant yu say yur opinion on make-up at all even makes them look lyk a slut

Dont get me wrong i lyk a bit of make up not the girls who bake a cake on there face...

Thank yu for acknowledging mens problems aswell

Most girls have no clue what its lyk living up in a mans life we slag and take them without question so If a guy makes fun of yu dont make it serious <3

  • Meant to say 18th/19th century. As for the makeup situation, that's totally wrong. It's a choice, not a lifestyle. I really hate the amounts of makeup girls use these days as it makes me feel like there's nothing genuine about them, they're programmed like Pretties. The media really needs to stop trying to enforce this insecurity point on appearance because it now costs people their jobs?! Hope that company pays out a fine settlement to that lady via lawsuit.

  • The only two issues I've ever had with feminism is that women did have strong roles in history (Joan of Arc, Cleopatra, etc), just that it was during the 18th/19th we saw that reduced and women have fought against that since then. The other is the men oppressing types, for feminism is about equality and I agree with women being treated equally in any situation.

  • I'm a guy, and I personally don't like make up at all. I find natural girls that most people would deem "average" so much more attractive then unnatural girls, unnatural being anything from make up to breast implants, that most people would deem "hot." I hate that most women have the idea in their head that they have to reach certain requirements set by society to be pretty. Beauty is subjective, everyone has a different image of it. Why conform to what the majority says is right? /mini-rant

  • I see the girls at my school wearing makeup and think two things. First, why would you wear that your 13 not 17. Secondly, don't put it on as thick as an Egyptian. If it makes you look like that bad, don't use it.

  • I hate having my nails short. It feels really bad.

  • Feminism is really all about equality for people of all genders, races, creeds and sexual orientations. Yes, some feminists do fulfill the stereotype of the man-hating, militant feminist, but that is a very very small part of the movement. The media just likes to focus on these women, because the media just loves to stereotype. Don't be afraid to call yourself a feminist if you agree with the values of the movement!

  • @outsidergirl You are deluded, firstly you are spouting an individualized version of what feminism is-like subjective thinking-this is not the objective truth about feminism- sure there are anecdotes and generalization but feminism collectively is a hate movement period! You're focusing on female empowerment bit cos it benefits your sex and you want others to believe the movement is harmless which is a complete fallacy. feminism is now undergoing a PR make-over b'cos of the MRM is exposing it

  • @apekillssnake Hey, hey, hey! Don't be rude! Not accepted here! If you're ever arguing a point, you can't insult the other person because as soon as you do, it invalidates ANYTHING you were going to say and people stop listening. #protip

  • @themunchkym Rudeness is a form of perception my dear!

  • As The Nostalgia Chick put it, "What did we get from first-wave feminism? The right to vote, among other things. What did we get from second-wave feminism? The right to have sex indiscriminately, among other things."

I'm of the persuasion of third wave feminism that you'd probably fit with. We're fighting for wage and social norm equality. The main goal is the abolition of gender roles. It's something that ultimately will benefit a lot of men.

Of course you've already read my blog post on it.

  • 2006 is recent history. You can use it.

  • @TheMinuteVlog I can't actually use it because it is a biased article in itself.

  • @themunchkym No matter what you source is, its going to have a bias. But its all about how you use sources (biases) in your paper. If you wanted to use the article, put it in there as a negative impact makeup has had on women. Just put another example in your paper on how makeup has been good for women, like how it could boost self esteem.

  • @cmcbride012 I STILL can't use it because my topic is the history of makeup so I'm focusing on the early years. It really can't have anything about self-esteem issues and such because that is an opinion and she WILL NOT accept it. #myteachertoldmethis

  • I'm more for equality than lady power. I've met too many people who are such hard-core feminists they almost want to oppress men the same way as women were. I one hundred percent believe in gender equality, I ran a campaign on it in my school, but I don't think that either gender should ever be more powerful than another.

  • @MissMeggie2804 Exactly! You can't oppress men! That's the OPPOSITE of progress!

  • @MissMeggie2804 I've heard about the mythological feminazi my whole life but never actually met one.

I think there's serious confusion about feminism. If you look it up in the dictionary or ask any feminist, they'll tell you it's the striving for equality between men and women--never for the supremacy of women over men. So I hate to break it to you, but if you want gender equality, you're a feminist.

The stigma that surrounds the word in our society shows how badly we need this movement, imo.

  • @AlwaysTete While not all feminists are so, there are sadly a disturbing number of feminazis out there. Bitter, lonely women who took their concerns on equality to an outrageous extreme of self-victimization, blaming all their problems and failures on the men around them who are just so "oppressive" and "chauvinistic."

  • @MissMeggie2804 YES! Why does one gender have to be better than the other? Just like why does one race have to be better than the other? I understand that women do have more oppressors, just like races other than Caucasian do, but that doesn't mean those individuals have the right to tear down the others. That just turns into one big mess of "I'm better than you because..." on all sides, which is exactly where we started. *Sigh*, I just don't understand some people's logic.

  • I remember when I first met you that you said something about how maybe feminists had a point on some things. Now you go and do stuff like this and your Beauty video.

It might seem odd to say this, but I'm so proud of you, Kym.

  • @TheMinuteVlog I thought you would be mad at me about this video or somethingIdon'tknow.

  • That is unbelievable! I understand looking well kept at your workplace, but having to wear makeup when it's something you choose not to do is ridiculous. Some people just don't like the way they look with makeup on. I wore makeup for my cousin's wedding and I felt like a clown. I just don't understand how that could possibly be a requirement.

  • Doesn't mean there aren't still issues with feminism...

  • @imgnepc Of course not!

  • @themunchkym So what would you see as the problems with feminism? I am a male feminist. If you think a person should be treated equally regardless of sex, gender & orientation than you are also a feminist. If equality is the goal, I can't find a 'problem' with that.

So talk about make-up use by males. make the topic your own.

  • before 20 views! I am a true munchkym fan. :D

  • @samthesinger1 Winning!

  • So true!

But on the make-up thing, I find it really sad how dependent a lot of girls are on it nowadays. I know so many girls who will refuse to go outside or be seen by anyone until they have done their make-up. Doesn't matter what the event (little or small), doesn't matter how late we may be, they have to have it on.

Now I'm no directly opposed to make-up in itself, but when you become this dependent on it I just don't think it's right.

  • @WaistHighView Big or small* Ugh... brain is melted because of university xD

  • @WaistHighView EXACTLY. The article talks about that. Telling women they MUST wear makeup to look appealing at their job is saying that women cannot naturally be appealing.

  • How tall are you Kym?

  • @JessieBradleyMusic 5'2" or 5'3". Depending on how bad my back is that day. (I have scoliosis so my high is subject to change due to strain on my back.)
