  • hi

  • Beautiful!

  • Beautiful and angelic music!

  • how does this have 69,001 views, and part 2 only has 12,148? lol

  • Couzin Hubert ! Qu'est ce que c'est qu'ce binz !

  • @TheSonicBuzz2011 hahaha I've done exactly the same with Khachaturian's violin concerto!!

  • Best version...EVER

  • SUPERB!!! WHAT A POWERFUL VIOLIN AND ORCHESTRA!!

  • @CaptainCrunchityzer HAHAHAHA LOL actually, mine did the same XD

  • I LOVE THIS MUSIC.... THE BEST PIECE THAT WE ARE GOING TO STUDY AS LEVEL WITH........... I just wish to play like that on my violin, hopefully in future.

    GREAT VERSION.... THANK YOU.....

  • wow, so no pressure CaptainCrunchityzer - intense. I LOVE this song. My History teacher was playing a vid about Jazz (coz we were studying the 1920s),etc the ppl from my music class tried to figure out which song was in the background. My History teacher said "Well that's great guys, but not everyone here knows every song ever off by heart" and I said "I don't know them all off by heart...although, I was singing Mendelssohns Violin concerto in E minor this morning - but that's beside the point!"

  • I think szeryng is perfection incarnate. This piece is a classic example of why.

  • この曲に私が持っているイメージにぴったりの演奏です。心にしみるとはこのような演奏を言うのでしょう。

  • Have been playing the violin for 7 years, never been able to play it. Life sucks.

  • @TheVoodooMaker Play something else. Some people can't play Mendelssohn after 12 years. It was my 11th year when I played it subsequently after Lalo and Bruch.

  • The open E strings annoy me... but, still very good

  • definitely in my top 3 favorite violinists of all time!

  • What a best play he shows! The most lyrical version..

    He was a legend

  • this version is actually ridiculously amazing. Bravo to Mr. Szeryng!

  • 0:59 - 1:28 -> My favourite part !

  • Exquisite.

  • best version of this concerto.

  • the king of kings

  • Wonderful! - he and Milstein must be the 'cleanest' of all players - so precise and disciplined!

  • By far one of the best on youtube. It's my favourite among the slower versions of the Mendelssohn concerto as opposed to the one by Mutter while the one by Heifetz is the best (in my opinion) among the faster versions.

  • SIMPLY GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!

  • nice violin sound.. also like sampled in "I Told You" by Brooklyn Academy & Vinnie Paz :)

  • Antal Dorati-Doráti Antal:HAJRÁ MAGYAROK!

  • musique magnifique !!! On l'entend en generique de fin dans le film " les visiteurs"

wonderful music !!! we can hear it as end credits in the movie " les visiteurs"

  • I concur, best version on Youtube, as opposed to the Heifetz one...:D

  • Very rich sound! I love it

  • THE BEST Mendelssohn THAT I HEARD IN MY LIFE.

  • With violinists today, it's like the singers: none of them has any real or distinctive personality. You can wake up at 3:00 in the morning, turn on the radio, and within 20 seconds you recognize Heifetz, Rabin, Milstein, Francescatti, Oistrakh; or Bergonzi, Merrill, Rysanek, Nilsson, Sutherland, Siepi (to name just a few) but nowadays, with a very, very few exceptions, you can't tell them apart. Fleming, Netrebko, Georgiu, Alvarez, Hampson; or Mintz, Shaham, Mutter, Fischer, Rachlin...?

  • bravo, amazing

  • Good, very good, also technically. But whom am I listening to? I have no hunch. Would this be the ancestor of meaningless music? So many violinists have no real character now adays.

  • @raoultak

Think for yourself. Don't just repeat what Perlman said and pretend to know what you're talking about.

  • @h0444i2v yeah I'm with you. this Rauletrack character is doing exactly that . . . like those people who come to classical concerts and kind of talk really loud in the break to try and appear knowleagable or superior. But music is music . . . not a badge of class or superiority. I went to see Schoenberg's Pelleas and Mellisande recently in london and had to turn around and tell these promps to shut the hell up

  • @h0444i2v You're absolutely right, I don't know why Perlman said he was like a camaleon when in fact he had a really unique sound o_O.

  • @Bautisnemo Perlman said that???

  • @BoxedxxFreak Yes ! Check that in the documentary " the art of the violin "

  • @raoultak a horrible quote to use in reference to szeryng,

he had one of the most beautiful, technical and articulate renditions of mendelssohn

its a shame that modern day violinists dont even come close to being compared to these legends, these greats, these violin gods

  • @wtfpwndzor There is one who can be awarded the title of "great" today, and that is Leonidas Kavakos; I strongly urge you to sample his work on YouTube.

  • thanks for posting this. I'm' loving this masters playing !

  • bravo!

  • ahaha, the part where he holds the g out is even perfect...

  • He's so amazing!

My teacher is obsessed with him. He's got great bach fingerings too! I think her obsession is rubbing off on me. lol.

  • Best Bach player of all time...

  • @PaperGrape

Correction Please. The SECOND greatest Bach player of all time (after Arthur Grumiaux!).

  • Hah, I know what you mean, the Schott edition of the bach sonatas and partitas with szeryng's fingerings is amazing! Grumiaux and Milstein were both phenomenal bach players as well. Milstein had equally as great fingerings as Szeryng and Grumiaux's Gavotte en Rondeau made it onto the Voyager Golden Record. Pretty amazing musicians...

  • MrFullService

Hmmm... Grumiaux is good... I think I would take a couple of his over Szeryng's. Milstein is one of my favorites and there's a few recordings that I think he holds as king, but i'll will take Szeryng over him on Bach. Your opinion is well observed!

  • This is much more sober than Heifetz'. I may even like it better.

  • Stupendous!

  • sublime violin !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love the sound of his violin

  • The beauty of this song is often ruined when the tempo is too fast, gotta love his tempo

  • Szeryng is an amazing violinist

There is no doubt about that.

  • I looooooooove his tempo!

I feel everybody plays this too fast.

  • The most beautiful.

  • top!

  • Best version on youtube.

  • nice sound

  • unbelievably gorgeous!

  • un violon magique !

  • 前半の三連符がそろっていてさずが大家の演奏だと思う。

    この三連符がきちんと弾けている演奏は少ないと思う。

  • awesome

  • ,fantasric sound.

  • wonderful

  • omg

  • wonderful sound!!!!!!

  • what a beautifully sweet sound!!

    I luv it :D

  • NICCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • wow...absolutely incredible...

  • wonderfull! thanks for the vid! ive already heard about this violinst a few times but only now ~im listening to him and... wow... incredible

  • Beautiful is all I can say - I had never heard this recording - thank you.

  • The greatest Mendelssohn Violin Concerto known to me, bar none, recorded in superb sound.

  • Wonderful. Bravo!!

  • Beautiful!

  • Superb! Bravo! TY.
