Of all the modern players, I always thought Pete Sampras was the one who could play well with a wood racket. He used standard Eastern forehand and Eastern backhand grips. Extreme grips just don't work with wood rackets. You can get spin but no power.
God I would love to see the pro's of today have to play a tournament or two with wood rackets. It would be really interesting to see who could hang and who couldn't. Me thinks Fed would do quite well. Nadal, not so much. lol

The players with longer strokes, good timing, and have an attack style would be my guess.
So naturally, Sampras would be in that category.
