@APurposeDrivenLife This is infact wrong. The reason given by CBS at the time of cencellation was due to newer generations. CBS had said that they were cancelling shows such as Hogan's Heroes, Here's Lucy and Green Acres because they wanted TV shows that would appeal to younger generations. Ratings to Hogan's Heroes were always very good and even up to the time of cancellation they were still high. The Vietnam Quote has nothing to do with the cancellation.

I think a proper ending to the show would have been the Germans surrendering at the end of the war, and Hogan and the prisoners showing Colonel Klink, Sargent Schulz, General Burkhaulter, and Major Hoffstetter the underground tunnels and what went on behind their backs.

Actually' its ratings stayed pretty good. Some exec at CBS said to "cancel anything with trees" and so the show was canceled.
