Don't use a CAP it dose not help your car audio that much the best thing to do is get a second or better battery that is the best thing that u could do
well if that does not work get a light bulb with 20 wats and put it in the 12volt wire take out the fuse and use some wire to connect the light bulb to the side of the fuse holder and let it dim down @103mendoza
@raheemcharles cap stores extra electricity incase the amp needs to use it such as if your lights dim add a cap or at one point itll drain to much electricity
The thing is, people get confused in the real purpose of a cap. A cap is not used to, cure or prevent dimming lights, change the way the system sounds or save the battery/alternator (all are misconceptions).
To undertsand the purpose you need to understand how they work.
A cap does it's best to keep the voltage at a certain level, but if the voltage changes so will the cap voltage. The cap just makes the change smoother.
@sparky3489 retard a cap will help all of what u said. the point of a cap is to save your car. without one you could short a comp or light or w/e. if i didnt have 3 caps mine will just stall the car or shut the amps down
@swanyy LOL! Obviously you don't know what a cap really does or how it works. That's all fine but you may want to educate yourself so you don't look like such a fool. You amplifier has all the capacitance it needs built right in. A cap CANNOT provide more power as it can ONLY give what it gets. A cap CANNOT prevent dimming lights as that is caused by lack of current. A cap CANNOT improve sound to any measurable means. PLEASE, learn about caps BEFORE you make yourself look stupid again.
@sparky3489 your a fucking tard kid if you had a real amp then you would know that you need cap to keep your car at 12-14 volts ... so yes a cap will help sound q and the life of your alt. and yes a cap will help dimming lights...... your name said it all sparky sound like a dumb dog.. have fun nub
@swanyy Well it's not common for a "noob" to have over 25 years in the Electronics/mobile audio industry and not know the real use for a cap. I was building amps when you were still shitting your diaper!! A cap is not a regulator so it can't "keep" your car at 12-14 volts. If you think this is so, disconnect the battery and see how long the systems lasts. Since you seem to fail to understand, I'll leave you to your stupidity.
@swanyy Show me a comp system with a cap and I'll show you someone more stupid than you!!!!!!! A capacitor only helps maintain voltage for an extremely short period of time. It does not reduce the overall strain on the electrical system with a demanding audio system. This is an electrical and physical truth and anything else is a myth.
@sparky3489 stfu you have made yourself look as retarted as u can. call any cap comp. and ask them what a caps main use in a car is.... they will all say the same thing... STOPS volt drops.... big amp = volt drops= lights dim= alt taking a beating= you looking like a fucking tard stop while you still think the world is round
@swanyy Duh stupid, THEY ARE THE ONES THAT SELL THE CAPS SO OF COURSE THEY'RE GOING TO SAY THAT!!! WHAT ELSE WOULD THEY SAY, THE TRUTH?!?!?!? THAT WOULD HURT THEIR BUSINESS!!!!!!
Damn fool!!!!!
The ONLY thing that will help a demanding system is a bigger alternator, high amperage battery and installing the BIG 3.
Look asshat, I'm a 27 year electronics technician. I'm a Peavey Media-Matrix certified audio engineer, I'm also a certified IPC specialist AND I make my own circuit boards. OH SNAP!
@swanyy Here it is, the absolute truth about caps:
A farad is a unit of measurement. 1 farad can provide 1 volt @ 1 amp for 1 second.
Let's say that your electrical systen is running at 13.8v while the vehicle is running. Your amp suddenly decides that it wants a huge a mount of current, say 100a. Your electrical system is not properly set up for these instantaneous draws, and the line voltage droops, say to 12.5v. The capacitor starts discharging to provide that extra 1.3v of potential.
@swanyy A 1 farad capacitor making up that extra 1.3v @ 100a of current will discharge itself in 7.7ms.
The big question is how fast can your electrical system react to pull the line voltage back up. If it's already drooping, it's not about to suddenly be able to recover unless the load is removed. So, provided your amplifier is producing a sound for less than 7.7ms (which is about 1 cycle of a 130hz tone), the capacitor will help. Beyond that, you are just installing a useless item!
@swanyy Funny, I don't see you coming with any facts or calculations. Why? Because you don't have any experience in the filed. You are just some poser that likes to think he knows something AND has bought into all of the hype. If you're going to make an argument, you need to come up with some facts of some kind, not hearsay from some website. When you come back with some actual facts with some credible calculations proving me wrong, I'll listen. Until then, just stay dumb.
@ExtraTerrestrials thats an easy way to tell if you need a capacitor. you only really need one if your amp is drawing more power than your alternator can put out. im not an expert but i know my headlights were dimming and my car would surge if i had it cranked up to high and the capacitor really helps. anyway i hope at helps.
@Fariascesar1 YOU CAN PUT THE GROUND FROM THE AMP TO THE CAP AND A GROUND WIRE FROM THE CAP TO THE CHASIE OR BATTERY IF OU HAVE IT ON THE ROOM ..DID I ANSWERD YOUR QUESTION?
on the sidebar with all the other video clips listed why are there always a few big boobed women vid clips listed?
