@Jamilcoolman yes you should have no problem. you can just use the psp's own system update tool if you want because it is hacked so it updates to the latest m33 firmware (which is 5.00m33 anyway) instead of official firmware

@13345678900 no you can't, you need to update in steps as shown in the video because 5.50 gen-d3 requires a higher custom firmware to upgrade from (i dont know what it is, it should say somewhere in the readme of the 5.50 gen-d3 firmware). That is why I upgrade to 3.52m33 in the video; becuase 3.90m33 requires a custom firmware of 3.52m33 or higher to upgrade)

Thank you! Most of the tutorials online seemed to be for people who already had done some sort of similar update in the past. I can read, and have installed stuff before, but I'm more into DS Homebrew, which is a lot simpler. Using this, I was able to take the 1.50 fat PSP I just bought (yay ebay) up to 5.00M33, which should be good enough to get me running some SNES games as well as my used games I just got, too. Thanks. XD

a lot of people have had the same problem you have got and sorry to say, I don't have a definite solution to the problem. you could try waiting longer than 30 mins. maybe try waiting between 1-2 hours. if that don't work, try formatting the memory stick and putting the 3.90 custom firmware back on the stick afterwards. if that still don't work, then im sorry but i cant help you. best probably to search on google for your problem.

by the way, what is the capacity of your memory stick?

i tried after formating my memory it still didn't work.. i guess i'll leave it like that but can i update it to like any other version like 5.-- something after having 3.52 M33-3 ??? my psp'z memory is 4gb.. is that good enough for me to do the update??

im not sure but i think that the memory stick needs to be between 256MB and 2GB. I used a 2gb memory stick in my video.

i put the 1.50 kernal installer on the root and i changed it from 3.90 to 1.50 in the config menu so my question is if i can delete the folder off the root of the mem stick?

if you have installed the kernal then yes. i assume you have since you said that you have changed the kernal from 3.90 to 1.50.

it is a psp umd iso that you copied into the folder isnt it? if it is, then where did you get the iso from? if from the web, try re-downloading the iso.

at the time i made this video, 3.90m33-2 was the newest custom firmware. to upgrade to the later versions, just go to network update on the psp menu. this will download the latest custom firmware.

answering your question, you should be able to play downloaded psp iso games now.

i think it must be the fault of the homebrew and not the psp. if you can run other homebrew ok then it must be the halo thing thats causing the problems.

you could try installing and using the 1.50 kernal add-on for whatever custom firmware you are using.

OMG!!! i actually did it... the problem was i used a downgrader and it messed up some kind of codes so i updgraded to 3.52 m33-4 and then to 3.71 m33 and when i upgraded to 3.71 m33 it fixed the codes for me and now im at 3.90 m33-2 and thanks alot for the help!

if you have 3.70 m33, then you should be able to use my video.

if you have 3.70 official firnware, then you will need to downgrade to 1.50 firmware and then use the video. the only way you can downgrade is using a pandora's battery. watch my other video showing how to downgrade to 1.50 using a datel tool battery (a kind of pandora's battery).

the problem seems to be that the program stops reading off of the psp memory card. The orange light on the left side of the psp will stop flickering like it does when its accessing memory

you can upgrade your psp to 3.90 m33-2 and install the 1.50 kernal add-on for 3.90 m33-2. what this does is it allows the 3.90 m33 psp to play homebrew made for the 1.50 firmware.
