S4D: Suppressor Usage in MW3

Ok, so.. Fluxus, I've been playing Search and Destroy, in MW2 & MW3, i've gotten multiple Clutches, and multiple flawlesses, but im not a 'Skilled" Player, im not bad but im not amazing im like 75%, if your still following good :).. I need to know if I should use a silencer, I ONLY use silencers unless im getting attachment challenges. I always use the same setup too, SoH, Assassin, and Dead Silence, I ALWAYS use assassin, becuase I have no use for the others.

not using a suppresor with assasin is great because if the other team has uav after you shoot if the team isnt communicating they will think you are dead because you're not on radar but if you have a suppresor alot of the time the enemy will hunt u down because they think you're still alive

@FuseReconFn It depends on your approach. If you're planning on being more reserved and tactical, by all means use a silencer. If you plan on rushing up to your enemies then you should definitely have rapid fire. In my personal opinion a good idea is to have recon PRO whenever you use a silenced weapon and pair it with flashbangs. Slightly reduced range means that tagging your enemy with bullets can give you a major advantage in finishing a kill. Im not an expert but thats my theory

A suppressor gives you stealth for reduced noise and muzzle flash plus not popping up on the mini map. The only downside is that the effective range of the gun is decreased. Think about it ;)

Hey Fluxus I normally don't ask these stupid questions but I've been struggling over something...whether or not to use the suppressor on my M4A1.

The M4 Carbine has decent-okay range and the suppressor really cripples it more in this game than in MW2. But the muzzle flash annoys the CRAP outta me and the supp. gets rid of that...but I absolutely love extended for it! (It's a recon class with a launcher secondary...I need the ammo.)

Fluxis. Silencers reduce damage at long rang. While the Rang proficiency increases the damage you submachine gun can to at medium rang. Rang doesn't increase the power of the guns rang after medium rang. So they actuly don't counter each other out. ;) tmart uploaded a video on it.

@senshockey7 Actually silencers don't reduce damage at long range. They reduce the distance at which the weapon deals maximum damage, so in a very long range situation, they have no effect at all. They also have no effect on the weapons damage in a close quarters battle. Basically it translates into 1 more bullet required to kill at medium range and considering the huge benefit of remaining off the radar, it's a tradeoff well worth making.

the lmgs actually in mw3 nolonger maintain max damage over range,

snipers like the l118, barret, and msr still retain 1hk in the same default place the dragunov in cod4 and black ops which is just losing 1hk in the stomach, by default, all snipers but the rsass and dragunov have the power of a sniper with stopping power wereas those 2 have the same power as previous cods, if anything, you shouldnt rely on getting stomach shots with snipers, at most, chest shots, dragunov just plain sucks in mw3

The LMGs have drop off damage in this game and suppresses reduce their horrible visual recoil, so yeah a suppressor can be a viable option for LMGs.

Suppressor+Range results in a 2.5% decrease in range in SMG's. Which means it's practically the same as a regular SMG, but with maybe 0.3 meters taken away from the range.
