@billyloco Many of them walk, if they are in areas where buses and walking works better for geography. In other places, the areas are large and the Church has invested in cars rather than having the missionaries use bikes. Some areas are the right size for bikes and it fits the community so they use them.

Have you ever tried to read the entire Book of Mormon UPSIDE DOWN? I did that when I was on my mission. I just did it to see if I could do it. Also, I made a personal record to read the Book of Mormon in 5 days... but it only took me 3. (I had a lot of time on my hands that weekend.)
I've always had this question in my mind: Why do mormons still debate where the book of mormon story took place, when you've had many prophets that could've asked the same Jesus about the exact location? If the faith factor is your answer, I think proclaiming to have direct access to Jesus and not receiving vital revelation like this one, makes you look awkward to the rest of the world....

Funny, the timing of your inquiry, I was just talking about this with a friend of mine, who struggles with its language when reading The Book of Mormon. I can only surmise, I am not a gospel scholar, I'm just me, but my educated GUESS is that it was translated for Joseph Smith in a way that he and many others at the time could understand. It would be interesting to have another, more modern-day translation, wouldn't it? Thanks for your inquiry.

Why do you hold holy something that was written by Joseph Smith? I can understand the abstinance from alcohol and coffee, etc, but to subject yourself to unbiblical traditions like polygamy? I can't imagine stoning, either, but that was common, too. We live in a different age that values modern ideas.
Reading many of the histories of people who were called upon to practice polygamy agonized over it, including Joseph Smith himself. He was chastized by the Lord for not obeying. It also was not against the laws of the land, and there were countless widows whose husbands were killed by mobs. Joseph Smith was a man of stellar character, not a selacious creep who couldn't wait to bed another woman. He adored Emma, his wife, and his letters are published for us to see his character. Truly tender.
We don't need the The Book Of Mormon or the Bible. We need reason and logic. I'm sorry if this offended any religious people out there but you are blinded from the truth. God is fake, Jesus has been dead for 2000 years or so and he is never coming back. Again sorry people.
I still don't understand why Mormon's can't drink Alcohol, or coffee. If God created the Earth, he put coffee here for a reason. As for Alcohol, this is human made drink. The same can be said for Cannabis. I pretty such God must have know that humans we going to try and smoke it.

@billyloco Many of them walk, if they are in areas where buses and walking works better for geography. In other places, the areas are large and the Church has invested in cars rather than having the missionaries use bikes. Some areas are the right size for bikes and it fits the community so they use them.

Why does the Book of Mormon mention Bellows (1 Nephi 17:11), Brass (2 Nephi 5:15), Breast Plates & Copper (Mosiah 8:10), Iron (Jarom 1:8), Gold and Silver currency (Alma 11), Silver (Jarom 1:8), and Steel Swords (Ether 7:9)? Have you ever tried to read the entire Book of Mormon UPSIDE DOWN? I did that when I was on my mission. I just did it to see if I could do it. Also, I made a personal record to read the Book of Mormon in 5 days... but it only took me 3. (I had a lot of time on my hands that weekend.)

I've always had this question in my mind: Why do mormons still debate where the book of mormon story took place, when you've had many prophets that could've asked the same Jesus about the exact location? If the faith factor is your answer, I think proclaiming to have direct access to Jesus and not receiving vital revelation like this one, makes you look awkward to the rest of the world....

@UrStreatWrld That is a good point. Also, I wonder why the early version of the BOM says Jesus is God several times and it was later edited to say, Jesus is the Son of God. Why would Jesus be God and now Jesus is the son of God? Doesn't make sense why Joseph wrote Jesus is God.

If I had not studied the King James on my own I might not know it as well as I do. I guess since I also read the New World translation I may as well have been watching Hannah Montana! BOMR, You remind me of a Mormon I dated when I was a youth, her name was Joy and she was as stunning as you. I don't see how anyone could listen to your videos and remain focused on the storyline. When I was in HS I Attended seminary once; the goal was to complete the BOM and much emphasis was placed on that, and little on critical analysis. But as you already know, critical analysis isn't a very popular subject within the LDS faith. I almost want to read the BOM again, just to see your vids.

He was not proven to be a glass looker or anything of the sort. Did he always use the hat and seer stones or Urim and Thummim to translate? No. Nevertheless, it was by the power of God that he translated all of it, no matter what the procedure was. The BOM having 1000s of errors? Come on now, I think that is quite the exaggeration on your part. It is the most correct book, as we believe. Notice I didnt say perfect...correct. Even those Nephites who wrote it said they werent perfect in writing.

Funny, the timing of your inquiry, I was just talking about this with a friend of mine, who struggles with its language when reading The Book of Mormon. I can only surmise, I am not a gospel scholar, I'm just me, but my educated GUESS is that it was translated for Joseph Smith in a way that he and many others at the time could understand. It would be interesting to have another, more modern-day translation, wouldn't it? Thanks for your inquiry.

@dimtry19 They only contradict self-made "Christian" doctrines, and filtered interpretations of the Bible. People who know what "Elohim" really means have no problems believing in plurality of Gods. Monotheism is mostly an invention of the new ("Holy") Roman Empire, by guys who were still high priests of Jupiter and never tore down their polytheistic monuments. Besides, almost every ancient religion believed in a ruler or Godhead among the gods. No God before me =/= no other god at all.

Many of the wives Joseph had were "sealed" to him and many were not his wife on this earth. Joseph was doing the will of God. Many of the ancestors of the polygamist familes are leaders in his church today. The cults of today are found "outside" his church, many of them are not "one" like christ said we should be. Each church not LDS teach different doctrines and use every wind of doctrine to lead people away from his true church, the LDS Church.

LDS believe in doing good works oceantalk1. Isn't charity the pure love of christ? All the works in the LDS are charitable. Besides it says in Rev 20:12 that we will be judged by our works. The grace scripture is something that the LDS faith believes so emphatically. They believe that as in Adam all die so as in Christ shall ALL be made alive. It's how you are defining "saved" All will be saved from death, but not all will be saved in Gods Kingdom. Jesus said no unclean thing can enter the Kingdom of God. I've seen that video, thank you for referencing it. I've also seen another wonderful video that talks about the conditions that would have had to be present in order for Joseph Smith to be a fraudulent fantasy writer. Your definition of the Biblical Jesus sends everyone to hell to burn-for-all-eternity, just because people don't believe in him or believe the wrong definition of him. There are some that get away from justice in the LDS church and also out of the LDS faith. Believe me it is way more corrupt out of the faith than in it. Why do you hold holy something that was written by Joseph Smith? I can understand the abstinance from alcohol and coffee, etc, but to subject yourself to unbiblical traditions like polygamy? Joseph Smith had 42 wives - and some of those women were married to other men! Would you like that life for yourself - to have your husband be with another woman in the bedroom while you watch TV or make videos? And then you're supposed to accept that in silence?

Thank you solarisgalrocks for your inquiry. That is a fair question and I can not imagine it personally. My own ancestors were pioneers, I am a direct descendant of a third wife, it's true. Lots of stuff that went down in the Bible I can't imagine either, but remember, we are WOMEN in the 21st century where we have so many freedoms and rights that our forebearers did not. I can't imagine stoning, either, but that was common, too. We live in a different age that values modern ideas.
