Deaths aren't the only statistic, what about illness and cost to Canada's public health system. Regulation is needed, especially when NHP promises go unchallenged.

But you don't answer why should NHP be exempt from the same scrutiny as other food and drugs? they can be just as harmful if improperly handled and manufactured.

NHP are not exempt. There are current regulations. Just like food they must come from a manufacture with GMPs from that origin. They ban ingredients every year that is found in foods. Yet you can buy cigarettes, alcohol, Tylenol over the counter. Reason why consumers are going natural is because it works for them. If it don't then they buy another brand they trust and like.

There are other means to regulate safety. Education, a sign on the store, or a sign on the label that it is not approved but claims to do this etc. At least the buyer is informed of his educational decision. That is freedom. Maybe another activist should scrutinize food regulations if they are concern about losing there food. People forget they must be responsible for there decisions.

With something that is SUCH an infringement on rights like this, he had better done something more heinous than this. The issue is, "Why are we treating what he did as such an "egregious" crime?
