Big Daddy is an amazing driver that has been in some crazy crashes... to go through these & come back & drive takes major guts!!! What I like about him? He loves his Yorkies :o) He & my dad are good friends... :o)
I saw that race. Don had developed the front tires that were good for 300mph but he thought they had too much drag. They were like go cart tires. So he built the front spoiler. Some wind got under it and away he went for the ride.
@andrew1381.........I was there too! But completely missed the crash! I was walkin around in the pits getting something to eat an drink when I heard it! I tried to run up to the grand stands to catch it but it was over an done with before I could get up there. Historical moment! I was young when that happened only 8yrs old at the time. Big Daddy and Joe Amato were my fav top fuelers! Alway's loved big daddy's super shop cars, he alway's had somethin different from everyone else!
@taterfamine I was fortunate enough to have helped him in the pits at a match race in the 70s.... He seemed pissed, but it was just he was so focused everything else was a distraction. He will forever be my sporting hero.
To: ten8goa, I know you were showing respect for Big Daddy, but you could have left out the F--Ked. If you know anything about Don Gartlits you know he would not approve. I'm no saint and have used the word more than enough but....Don Gartlits has already included you in his prays if he has seen your reply.

We never miss the Englishtown race. We missed the blowover though, we were there on Friday for the night session.
