It was supposed to start at Science Center and go to the NW Quay. It has some really good, but very short, parts. It has lots of stairs (?), and large parts where you're on the road, looking for the next part of the path (not enough signs). Pedaling east, I lose the path at Kingsway, but I'll try again.
That's actually where I started, I was at about Royal Oak Avenue and Kingsway near the Safeway, and I headed towards RO Skytrain station, then proceeded towards NW. I should try going the opposite way the next time I'm out there to see how it works. Ideally I would love to get all the way from Burnaby to Coal Harbour and Stanley Park by bike, is that possible without getting hopelessly lost? Judging from your comment about limited markings and signage I could be in for a bear of a ride!!!
You might want to try the Central Valley Greenway, that's were millions of dollars are being wasted. It is now complete (almost) from Clark to Sperling. Then you can go south on Old Sperling to Burnaby Lake, around the north side of the Lake (on the pedestrian bark mulch path) to the Brunette River, then east along that river to Braid Station (the best part).
The Central Valley Greenway is also supposed to go from the Science Center to the NW Quay. Check out the boondoggle bridge at Sperling.
cool one more question is Southridge Drive a new road there I do not recall seeing the bridge and stuff before and also recall seeing something being construted in the area there
I'm not sure, I'm from out of town so I really couldn't tell you what's new or old! The only construction that I saw going on was along the path by the condos earlier in the video, and there was some more down in New Westminster (path resurfacing I believe).
It's a very good path, I quite liked it. I especially like how they kept parts of the old intercity rail line intact along the way, as I tried to show.
As for the connection, I couldn't get over that way due to bike path construction further north, so I ended up going along 7th Ave to 4th street, then to Columbia, then over a couple blocks and down to the river. Very impressive for me considering I'd never really been out there before!!! The bike path map was a godsend...
I used to live in Burnaby from 2007 to 2008, beautiful city (Vancouver) miss it sometimes, thanks for posting the video!

I've been looking for that part of the trail since Grace MCCarthy opened it, in 1986!!! I'll have to find Southpoint Road.

It's Southridge Road, if memory serves...you mean the road with the bike bridge near the Skytrain yards, right?

Looks like a good bike path. I've recently discovered the bikely and mapmyride websites.
How is the connection with the queensborough bridge now? Every time I drive my car around there, I wonder how cyclists will get past it now.
