  • This is a great video

  • You gotta see John Belushi's parody of this episode on SNL. Its perfect back to back.

  • dont fuck with the Enterprise

  • The quality is shit. How is this 'enhanced'?

  • You've posted the best 6 minutes and 6 seconds of the best episode of TOS. From Scotty getting the Constellation to finally creak and groan and move under impulse power to the surprise of recharging a phaser bank to "between the two of us, we'll kill that thing!", these were certainly the best moments. From an original 52-year-old trekkie...thanks!

  • mr spock take command of my ship thats a dirrect order on my personal authority as commander of the enterprise...best kirk line ever!

  • What I found odd. If either ship had photon torpedoes, why didn't either of them ram those down its throat? Although dramatic, it should not have been necessary to waste vehicles and lives when the armaments should have done the job. Dramatic licsensining aside, it was almost as ridiculous as Kirk not ordering a shuttle to pick up the stranded crew-sicles when the transporters were duplicating their people and components.

  • @KJOSCOT - Something I always wondered about too. Of course thatt would mean whoever fought it before could've tried the same tactic and that thing should've been killed right there. Maybe you had to sneak the antimatter pill down with a morsel of starship food so it wouldn't be assimilated before the detonation. :))

  • I Watched 2 Episodes of the Original Star Trek tonight after i got home late. i needed it to Pep Me Up.

The Original Show was Full of Enthusiasm, Hard Work by all involved an Suoer Raw Youthful Energy and Dedicated Enthusiasm by Mr. Shatner . His performance shows his Glee at being on a Main Network TV Show. He looked like he was having the Time of his life playing " Captain Kirk " . When the Next Generation Movies Started, Picard should have been Promoted of the ship & Command given to Kirk

  • Why not attack the stupid thing from behind??? Geez... come at it where it can shoot you? Oh well, I'll chalk it up to advanced plot contrivance.

  • @billyschu As they said in the story had you been paring attention its hull is impenetrable by ships Phazers or other weapon, the only way to fight it is down that things throat! No contrivance's present!

  • Will the Starship Constellation be Destroyed in the New Timeline ? Or will the Humanized Mr. Spock alter History by Informing the Admirals at Starfleet Command of the Upcoming Doomsday Machine Threat that will Kill Billions of inhabitants across Multiple Star Systems....

  • @Roadracer987654321 Good questions, I think Spock would probly alter history and tell Starfleet. I think he would also tell Kirk about his future death, and thus alter his fate too. Interesting speculations. And anything is possible in the world of science fiction.

  • Spock sounds like obama.

  • it looks worse than the original. way to go CGI

  • is there a vidieo for the music at 1:21

  • NICE redo thanks.

  • This is one of my favorite episodes so i have to disagree about the effects changes. The original Doomsday Machine was not to scale: this one is. Its simple and functional design was menacing in the original and is more menacing in the remastered version. The DVD version is better quality than the reproduced version on youtube. Please check out the Remastered Trek and try to keep an open mind. I was reluctant to embrace this version but think that even Gene Roddenberry would have approved.

  • I've always wondered why they never used photon torpedoes in this episode, or fired right into that thing's mouth?

  • great work on this BTW... Nice job...

  • Hey, all you TV and movie types that have no life---given the actor that played DECKER, what is his "connection" to a certain Western Movie and that of DeForest Kelly? They DID NOT PLAY in the same movie together but related subject and I guess you have to include Shatner as well!

  • I suspect had Gene been alive to see this updated version he would have loved it. Remember he had almost no budget from the Network or the Studio so he had to make do with what they had. ST was so many yrs above ST as here is a machine that could destroy planets way before Lucas's DeathStar!

  • Decker sounds drunk ;)

  • When Robert Justman, one of the original producers of the series, saw the effects he was floored. He said this is how the episodes should have looked if they had the budget or technology.

  • I love the Doomsday Machine either way. This clears up all the discrepancies of the original version Still numero uno. And I still remember watching this episode in Black and white.

  • I like the cheesier un-enhanced original better. More fun seeing the "model" of the Constellation moving jaggedly!

  • Been watching some of the old episodes on late night TV. It seems like the graphics have been enhanced from what I remember 40 years ago. Is that true, or am I not remembering the show properly? Especially this episode seems different.

  • My favorite episode never get tired of watching it.

I seem to remember "neutronium" being used in DS9 and Voyager too.

  • @rmr316 Neutronium is real. Look it up on wikipedia.

  • @raverkansascity Yes, neutronium is real. The way it's described in Star Trek, however, is just goofy-talk.

  • Roddenberry would have killed for this sh-t.

He was always on the story, but also wanted the fx to enhance the feeling of really being in space or on an alien planet, but was always held back by the low budgets he was given, budgets that wouldn't get him Forbidden Planet fx, much less the then contemporary 2001, A Space Odyssey level of fx.

  • CLASSIC.

  • I think it was great they updated the FX it breathed new life into the old show

  • Who's decided to "enhance" Star Trek?? Don't screw with genious!!!

  • Well glsingle, the people who orginally worked on the series decided to do this based on what they would have LIKED to have done if CGI was available when the series was made

  • Comment removed

  • In all seriousness (my previous post was a joke) did Kirk say, "What the hell's going on"? I do believe he did!

In "City on the Edge of Forever," his last line was, "Let's get the hell out of here." That's generally credited as being the first curse word on American TV. Now I come to find out that Star Trek did it TWICE! I watched the show as a kid during its original run, but I did not remember that.

    :0

  • He actually says "What the devil's going on?"

  • Wouldn't it be cool if they like, cut the actors out and put them against a bridge with modern flat-screen monitors and solid state touch controls, and hallways with curved walls like the corridors in The Andromeda Strain or something more modern like that?

Then they could take the old fogey actors out too, and replace them with Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, and Hayden Christensen as Commodore Decker!

    That would be epic.

    XP

  • @racookster Ya...that would be "like" cool...you're an idiot.

  • @racookster No, that would be the George Lucas school of filmmaking, something which should be avoided at all costs.

My only problem with the remastered episodes is that CBS Digital was barely up to the task. It's a real shame Paramount didn't continue their working relationship with Eden FX after "Enterprise" ended; at least they would have put hull plating on the ships

  • This would be Kool to see as a special done on the big screen!

I also like how Constellation seems to drift into the Doomsday Machine and I always liked when they fire up the Constellation and the engines whine.

  • I like the CGi in this one, even though I'm an ol' skool geek for the original setries models.

They made Enterprise look like it was being pulled into the Doomsday Machine instead of how it originally was facing it inline.

  • Shatner dedication in great new bio (All About Jeffrey Hunter) at amazon.

  • Very nicely done.

Many will disagree with me, but I really like seeing a good blend of new CGI effects with the acting talents of the original cast. I wish Paramount would go back and do this for all of the episodes and re-release the whole thing on DVD.

    Thanks Chris!

  • They did.

  • Yeah, but have you seen the results? It's not very good. This is much better.

  • Um, they did?

  • Similar to the Jaws theme

  • I do not like the new FX. It's wiping out the work of very dedicated people who had to somehow try to achieve miracles on a limited television budget and found some creative solutions to the challenge. It's also painfully obvious that the new FX scenes don't match up with the episodes in terms of resolution or colour and contrast balance. You can tell they were tacked-on and it's just distracting if you remember the episodes in original form and have seen them that way for years.

  • Its like playing a video game with high resolution ground textures but low resolution blurry wall textures. It destroys the atmosphere.

  • I agree 100%. Besides the fact that the CGI footage is an insult to the far more creative people who did a lot with a little, the CGI would have been acceptable if they'd have taken the time to try and match the color balance and tone of the original footage. Obviously, the CGI geeks had no clue as to how to actually match up to the old footage. That's the only reason I can think of for such a huge and inexcusable oversight.

    As it stands, It's distracting.

  • @LordZontar To each his own. Nobody's forcing the new FX down your throat, the originals are still online for you to watch.

  • @LordZontar I strongly disagree, at last they got this one episode right and it looks a hell of alot better than the original horrible cheesy model shots used in this one, now this episode fx match the excellent story. I have been waiting ages to see it look right since I was a child years ago!

    Melanie

  • Everytime they air this episode sales of "Bugles" goes up 25%.LOL

  • @doughaddix2003 Mmmmm a big red box of salted Dooms Day devices. Spock, shields up set weapons on chomp!

  • @doughaddix2003 Ha ha

  • I think when originally aired this episode was a social commentary on the cold war and mutually assured destruction between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. Even though we have the luxury of entertaining tie-ins to later episodes, I think that would loose the original moral context of this episode. This is a very important episode when looked at in the context of the times it was created.

  • This episode was more about revenge. Basically it's Moby Dick in space. Decker being Ahab. You could go to the deeper thing with the cold war commentary that Star Trek did back in the day, but on a more basic level, this one is about revenge and how it can totally consume you.

  • @MasterTalon I dont think decker was consumed by revenge. I think he was consumed by guilt.

  • @Nonsensei436 The guilt of the loss of his crew lead him into a suicidal mission of revenge against the weapon that caused him to lose his ship and crew. The guilt lead to the Revenge, which was on the pathway to the Dark side, which still fits with my comment. Decker is Ahab, the Planet Killer is the White Whale.

  • @MasterTalon I disagree. Guilt inherently means that the one feeling guilt accepts responsibility and fault. Seeking revenge is not a natural response to that acceptance.

  • @Nonsensei436 He blames himself for the deaths of his crew, something he couldn't stop from happening. He died trying to avenge their deaths and ease his guilt at surviving when they all died.

  • this is my favorite episode the doomsday weapon would take the borg on.

  • That was done in a book

  • it`s a shame we never got to see what the domsday machine was really built for, according to the novels this version was a prototype anti-borg war machine. i would have loved to see this thing take on a cube.

  • The doomsday machine could most certainly destroy 3 borg cubes with ease consdering that 3 borg cubes got destroyed when one of thier planets exploded because of the beingsw from fluidic space

  • and this one according to the novels was a basic early prototype, the second one was 10 times bigger and could fire in any direction. i`m amazed someone didn`t put a video on youtube of a brifge commander doomsday machine vs borg cubes battle already.

  • btw, who made the doomsday machine?

Was it really made to destroy Borgs?

  • according to the novels yes, the ship attacks ships the size of cubes and destroys and devours the planets assimilated by the borg for fuel. the theory in the novel death before dishonour is the preservers built it.

i`m not really up on all these abbreviations what the hell does btw mean? just curious.

  • btw means By The Way.

I use such an abbreviation to decrease the amount of characters you can use on a comment.

We only have a limit of 500 letters so i sometime use short words as abbreviations to decrease the limit and comment more on a single comment :p

  • just to clarify. the novel title is vendetta. i actually just read it

  • apok, NO, of course that was not the intention of Rodenberry or the original writers. It was a tacked on slightly hackneyed plot written by a star trek novelist. It was actually a very amateurish/fanboy story...trying to link these 2 elements of Star Trek. Having said that, I enjoyed because I'm a fanboy. LOL.

  • lol wait is there such a video that actualy contains that sorta mod?

  • a point on that. if your interested see if u can find the star trek novel vendetta. it's basically an offshoot of this episode and a very good book. i won't say anything more than it DOES involve the borg

  • 'Mad' Matt Decker..LOL one of the best eps

  • No wonder this one WON AN EMMEY.

No alone one of THE BEST TREK's...

    It's TEXTBOOK TV SCIENCE FICTION...

    At it's BEST!

  • within a week TOS season 1 will be on Blu-ray! Albeit not this episode. Though rumor has it, Seasons 2 & 3 will be on Blu-ray before the years out.

  • This is my fav orig episode.

    William Shatner is the man!

  • Yes indeed if the damaged Constellation is going to engage its impulse engines you would very well see bodies flying about. There is a reference to "Inertia dampers"...if this system was inop the acceleration would slam individuals about. The directors refusal to reshoot :Deckerds hoarse voice was a brilliant artistic move.

  • Looks a lot better than a giant ice cream cone. Keep watching

  • the effects director actualy described it as " a windsock dipped in cement" actualy after they changed it from "giant machine bristling with weapons"

  • man. that was crazy

  • hmm... man... that big assed fire belching un penetrable tube coulda wtfpwned the flying dinnerplate in seconds!

  • "We love you William Windham a.k.a. Commadore Decker!"

  • At 4:15, that looks really nice! You can see how badly damaged the U.S.S. Constellation is! "Long Live The Poor Constellation!"

  • God, did you reply to EVERY other comment on this video?

Why don't you go fuck a kangaroo? Keep you busy for half an hour.

  • the australian is fucking kangaroos and you are eating dogs and cats?! stupid.

  • Nice, shame I'm not Chinese; I have to change that thing on my profile. Just picked a nationality randomly.

Nice to see how quickly people like you resort to racial stereotypes anyway. Where are you from?

Would you like to meet my sister?

    She love you long time;

    She sucky sucky.

    wanker.

  • lol dude wat is ur problem ok i mean this aint a place to insult native australian animals u idiot so i suggest u stfu and leave that comment of urs out of this.

  • i did not mean to insult australian animals or people^^

i just replied to following comment:

    wangpangu:

God, did you reply to EVERY other comment on this video?

Why don't you go fuck a kangaroo? Keep you busy for half an hour.

i thought its a chinese account...

    understand my reply?

    (not worth the effort -.-)

  • Yeah, fuck off, you Nazi felching-enthusiast.

Australians hate you, the Chinese hate you and, I'm sorry to say, Jesus hates you as well.

You are a first class felching-enthusiast.

  • what?

  • I said you are a felching-enthusiast. I also indicated that the LORD AND SAVIOUR, THE BABY JEEEEEEEEESUS, who died for all our sins and shit, and will return one day weilding a NINE-BLADED SWORD (that's right; NINE-BLADED!), which he will use against all sinners such as you sir.

Anyway; He doesn't care for Felching-Enthusiasts such as yourself. It's a proven fact- like other things that might be in the Bible.

    NINE-BLADED though: NINE-BLADED! Remember that...

  • you´re cute

  • lol the only thing i also like about this is on the viewscreen we also get to actualy see the constellation and the planet killer goin at each other full on unlike the old version of the eppisode.

  • I am rather against updating special effects--for Star Wars, say, but the old effects were so bad that they really detracted from the episode. When I'm watching a great, suspensful episode like this one I don't want to be jarred into reality by some lame-ass phaser beam. This new one, while not as good as they could have made it, is definitely easier on the brain.

  • I agree. The "revamping" of the Star Wars movies were totally uncalled for, they were actually distracting, and added nothing substantially to them. However, these modified scenes using computer imaging for Star Trek episodes are completely warranted, and contribute to what we see going on in the story. The starship designs were kick-ass (for the mid-1960's), but they could not show them actually doing anything. Now we can see them really "in action."

  • very cool, I like the modification.

  • Sulu is not a fag; Geoge Takei is a fag (but he seemed lovely on I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here so who cares?- live and let live man... you are such a Herbert, dude.

  • I don't care if they're shaking themselves around in their chairs; I don't care if the phaser efects look cheap; I don't care about any of that. This is still cool: Real men prefer the original and if you don't you're one of those 24th century pussies who wants to talk about your problems in a focus group instead of charging phasers and threatening to blow up the planet.

  • LOL real men? XD dude this is exactly the original lol they just had it remasted so they could put it on DVD dangit now quit whinging already ppl like you are driving me nuts.

  • Why? what did I say? I can't be bothered to scroll back and find out.

Why does the Doomsday Machine look like a giant fossilized turd?

  • this was a pretty intense episode, nailbiter fer sure!

  • Feb 10, 2007, the day after my birthday. My alltime favorite star trek episode was aired. I considered it a personal b-day present from Trek itself. Sitting with my Constellation model kit and Planet Killer model in my lap, quoting nearly word for word the whole episode till the planet killer made its appearance and my eyes glazed over..and I forgot to breath XD Commercial break and i gasp, falling out of my chair

  • Has anyone else noticed that in the orig they're trying to pull away full astern while in the updated version they're pointed AWAY from the beast and would blast right down its gullet if they went in reverse?

  • It is weird how everything except the doomsday machine and the enterprise still has the 60's feel to it, it doesnt mesh well if you ask me.

  • on a note, what is the difference between the "madness" of attempted suicide and pure heroism? Is the Commodore being heroic in giving up "his" ship to save the billions on other planets, or is he being insane?

    perhaps a matter of portrayal?

  • He was heroic before his crew died. That drove him around the bend, making his later actions the product of insane desperation and mind shattering guilt.

  • my point was that heroism is a matter of point of view. why couldn't his sacrifice of the enterprise(which spock called attempted suicide) be heroism?

I think Commodore Decker was a justifiably psychological wreck...not evil. that is the one weakness of this episode, in my opinion.

  • since vuncans dont bluff as spock actualy told Decker but if the Enteprise was sacraficed to the planet killer i think starfleet should call that heroism rather than bloody attempted suicide i mean try puttin the planet killer in a situation in TNG and see wat happens.

  • we all know he was a pretty good guy but as alenofbellwood said he was doing it while a wreck in which it is most of the time with those types they're actions are never truely heroic and usually end with more pointless death.

  • This is weird seeing this episode like this. I grew up watching the TOS episodes countless times and have come to expect the 60's era SFX. While the new CGI FX give it an updated feel, I hope the original versions are never forgotten.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that the jury is still out on updating the show like this.

  • The phaser effects are still bugging me - when Enterprise is firing, the beams are spreading apart, but impact on the DM's hull shows the beams converging. Same thing happens in "Journey to Babel" when Enterprise fires at the Orion ship.

Sulu puts Connie's distance from the DM at 500 miles, but it's painfully obvious that it's a LOT closer than that...if not, the Connie must be a ten-mile long starship.

It's still my favorite episode, though.

  • This episode was one of the few of the original series that I thought WOULD benefit from redone CGI effects. The space scenes are much better now. The Planet Killer now has some size to it, making both the Enterprise, the Constellation (and especially the shuttlecraft), look tiny close to it, which was the always the original intention. This was, really, the only reason I got excited about the remastered episodes so I could see this episode in all its correct glory.

  • One thing about the new SFX is that for HighDef... they weren't optional. Seriously. The old effects - even the good ones - went from "dated" to "painful," and in this episode in particular, from "severely dated" to "laughable." They really did need to do this. Aod so far, I've found myself unexpectedly pleased most or all of the time.

  • yet it doesnt...i mean sure, the effects look better, but to me they look like some fan project and definitely NOT realistic. At least the models had a tangible quality to them, as if they were existing..these look like video games.

If we could have seen some of the effects like ENT on remastered it would ahve been different. but this? no thanks

  • I love this episode , but where is scotty on the enterprise or the other ship?

  • He is on the other ship, then he beams back to the enterprise for part 2 of this clip

  • I love the look on Kirk's face as it goes from "Yeah! I saved my ship!" to "I forgot it would come after us now."

  • I just love Decker's craggy voice.

Kirk saying, you earned your pay for the week.

Wish Scotty had said, a week, that brilliance was worth a month's worth of pay.

  • this is one of the best episodes of trek

  • One of my favorite episodes from TOS. Decker was a stereotypical 60's era drunk! lol

  • why dont they use torpedos it would be more affective

  • the anti-proton beam the planet killer shot at the Enterprise deactivated its antimatter--since the warp drive and photon torpedoes use antimatter, they were rendered useless

(sorry I have to be a blatant trekkie!) :)

  • Nice one

  • I hate to admit it but the enhanced effects help a lot.

  • The Doomsday Machine reminds me of my x-wife's muff ... flames used to come out of that too.

  • rofl

  • ahahahahaha

  • Why was there a blueshirt assistining in engineering?

  • he was probably from the Science division, assisting the damage control team.

There were times when the best-known blue shirt, Spock, assisted in ship repairs as well (he did lightning fast repairs to the Enterprise in "Wink Of An Eye").

  • Bones told him to go home early that day.

  • vry nice

    vry nice.

  • Thanks for posting this ChrisJonesMods. This is one of my top 10 favorite STAR TREK Episodes.

  • The remastered space scenes make more sense.

Notice how everyone reacts when the Enterprise is hit or lurches, except Mr Spock, who apparently activated his personal inertial dampener.

Notice when the Constellation lurches underway, some equipment cleverly falls off Kirk's console table...

  • Dont "F" with Spock or youll find yourself out of a job Like Decker

  • The dialogue between Kirk and Decker have not been included. Those scene really make this sequence work. Too bad they were not included.

  • Decker came across as the real deal; basically an older Kirk type. He was totally dedicated to his crew. Too bad he did not have a vulcan as his 2nd.

  • I have seen the ORIGINAL episode before (this is my co-favorite STAR TREK episode next to THE TROUBLE WITH TRIBBLES). But this enhanced episode brings to light what that doomsday machine was really like!!!

  • Does anyone know which episode it was that Kirk said, "I want two tractor beams on that shuttle craft!" ?

  • yes, it was from "The Immunity Syndrome"--Spock found a weakness in the amoeba pulling in the Enterprise but didn't have any power to return to the ship

  • This guy doesn look sharp like Cap Kirk, he looks like he came out of a shelter. How spock let this drunken washed up bumb take over. "I am in command spock". Similar to what we go through on jobs today. Some folks get paid more, a Czar manager style. I'm like, hmmn, where did they get this dummy from!

  • Well after having his shipped having the crud knocked out of it, have his crew all die within ear shot, and be in a ship with minimum life support you expect the Commodore to have a sharp crease in his pants and a clean shave? The appearance and his demeanor are to contrast with the previous Decker you hear (cool, calm and in command) from the Constellation's log. Part of the scripting of the episode.

  • I have seen this episode, like many other Star Trek fans, in its entirety; however, I kept my comments on this clip alone as well made contrast to some managers attitude in today's work force. I could have elaborated more but choose not to, but diffently was not looking for a justified of the reason "why" of Decker's state of mind etc. That's on the other clips. It's just utube, a community where one can/should give their opinion/w out all this. Thumbs up or down, it really just an opinion!

  • Not sure why it posted twice, but once said here was my only intention

  • Exactly, I see your point of view since you put your comment in context. Old School Star Trek is a child of the 1960s, and must be viewed as such. It had evolved from the premise of Wagon Train to the Stars, into US Military in Space. Military mentality, rules and regulations taking precedence over critical thought. I viewed the original in the 1960's, a world far removed from today's business culture. Just an opinion.

  • i like the way the enterpise sounds like a lada starting on a cold winter morning

  • The CGI is not sweet, it looks fakey, and the planet killer's beam looks like fire. The old version is better. Respect the classics.

  • Comment removed

  • God, I hate these new enhancements. They look really fake, like a bad japanese special effects company got ahold of the orignal content! God, I hope the originals are still available.

  • They are, on dvd, but this episode is especially hard to find, I found it at Fry's Electronics.

  • Thanks for sharing that, cuase I want the originals too!

  • Yes, I really am collecting the originals, it's stuff to stay up late or pre-record from TV/etc. Thanks!

  • true since movies n shows these days are actualy on DVD now instead of VHS.

  • They are, on dvd, but this episode is especially hard to find, I found it at Fry's Electronics.

  • No T.V. drama ever used music more effectively than TOS and this episode is the best example. Sol Kaplan's score for Doomsday is the best ever in television history. The subplot conflict between Spock and Decker is as powerful as the action. William Windom's performance as Decker was the best of any guest star in TOS. That said, the CGI is a downgrade. The original rock-like, planet killer was more sinister, like the shark in Jaws. This thing is about as scary as a tube of toothpaste.

  • Windom is great. But my favorite is William Marshall as Dr. Richard Daystrom of M5 multitronic computer fame. Very convincing.

  • WOW! This is the one episode that always put butterflies in my stomach, almost like I was there. The new effects only -uh- enhance it.

  • Left out one, guys. The USS Intrepid, from "The Immunity Sydrome". The Intrepid, as I am sure you remember, was manned by Vulcans.

  • Beside The Enterprise,Constellation,Defiant,Hood,PotemkinLexington,Excalibur,In Tomorrow is Yesterday Kirk Tells Capt Christopher, There are 12 like her in the fleet, does any body know what the 5 other Starship Names are

  • sloopex... the other 5 are:

    KONGO

    EXETER

    YORKTOWN

    FARRAGUT

    REPUBLIC

There's also the Valiant, which was destroyed

(Where No Man Has Gone Before), and the class ship, the USS Constitution. The Defiant was added after Kirk made his comments in Tomorrow is Yesterday.

  • One of the great face-offs edited out of the "enhanced" version for a few more seconds of improved FX.

Decker won't agree to Spock relieving him of command. Spock tells him what will happen. Decker: "You're bluffing". Spock: "Vulcans..don't..bluff." Decker ponders, then says wistfully, "No... No, I don't suppose they do".

Don't forget that Star Trek is, like all science fiction at its best, today's mythology and fable. It's about people and the writing.

  • I agree with your viewpoint on what made Trek great, but what you're not taking into account is that the scenes such as that which you're referring to were not cut for the effects. In fact, there are no "additional" effects in any of the new enhanced episodes.

    ...to be continued...

  • The reason these scenes are missing are because of the syndication cuts. Television series today are at least three minutes shorter than they were back i
