if you saw it in person, you could tell that it isn't a saxophone. for a saxophone to play that low (like the bass sax), it would have to be much larger. no, it's definitely a B-flat contrabass clarinet.
@venskus2009 That's a result of saxophones have a conical bore and clarinets having a cylindrical bore. Really, that's the only important difference in what makes clarinets and saxophones different. (A common misconception may be that the material they're made of is what makes them different but that's not true; look up 'metal clarinet' and you'll find it sounds much like a wooden one; also, look up 'taragot' or 'tárogató,' its basically a wooden saxophone and sounds like a saxophone as well).
Yeah, clarinets are always tiny for their downward range.
