I just had Microvascular decompression surgery to correct TN. That was 3 weeks ago and the pain from surgery is worse than any TN pain I ever suffered. I hope that one day I will be thankful for this procedure but today I regret it more than anything i have ever done! Yes, I have been TN pain free since surgery but again, these headaches and the hearing loss are far, far worse.
after suffering from TN for near 10 years I had this procedure done (at University of California San Francisco) and have been pain free for near 7 years.

@kotonoge pretty sure they were doing some other stuff down there, not just exposing the lower CNs for funsies. As far as the SCA is concerned, what they did in the video seems just fine at least according to Cohen-Gadol 2011 in Clinical Neurology and Neurosurgery. Don't know if you accept that as a reliable source. Ultimately, the results don't lie... what does the patient think?

That's a big hole. When I had mine done the hole was only 1/2" diameter.

NOT necessary to expose lower cranial nerves.
POOR dissection os SCA from trigeminal nerve.
NEVER put anything between SCA and TN, which leads recurrence and very tough sencond operation.
You needs more training! Now, Interposition technique is already the things of the last centtury.

What about MVD for the 8th cranial nerve, the hearing nerve. I have bilateral vascular compression of my hearing nerves.
