African slaves were sold 600 years before the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade! Arabs were the ones that spread Islam to Africa, plus the Moral Authority to uphold is Mohummed; an Arab. All people that came into contact with Arabs were given 3 choices, CONVERSION, DHIMMI status or DEATH. Jizya was used as a method to get people to convert since they were under strict regulations and had to pay up to 80% tax in times of tolerance and 150% in times of persecution.
