Schubert - Mass in G Major, D.167 - VI. Agnus Dei

Our choir is singing Schubert's Mass in G and CityMusic Cleveland is the one I have chosen to listen to in order to help me learn the music. Of all the Youtube videos they have the best sound. I would never have guessed there were only 18 people singing!

@derekeileen Me too! It's frustrating trying to learn a bass solo when you can't hear the person singing due to the quality. Other than the quality, this is the best rendition of the Mass in G.

I'll add to my earlier comment on the Kyrie, that this is a fleet but tastefully shaped interpretation, utterly free from Romantic excesses. At first I expected the choir to be swamped by the orchestra, but the balance was actually just fine. The soloists were well chosen, and to my astonishment they stayed right on tempo without having to be prodded by the conductor. And yes, that's a lovely church that I'd be glad to visit sometime.

This series is great. I attend all the concerts. Although the other venues are very nice, my favorite is Shrine Church of St. Stanislaus in Slavic Village.
