Sounds like they're getting serious about reopening!!! Article in todays Review Journal that they got some county permitting yesterday. Likely will get rebranded which sucks but at least wont get torn down or imploded. Probably about the best we could hope for.

Or probably it's someone who REALLY wanted to go to Vegas, but he's so poor who cannot afford EVEN an Imperial Palace room ($20 per night)...

Cool video..... Where in the casino was that Sahara Hotel Casino directory (Map) of the casino level located? Were there more than one of them? (Let's hope there was one in every room or something!!) I don't recall ever seeing that when I was in there. Do you remember if the map included the Nascar Cafe or was the map prior to that (when the race and sports book used to be down where the NASCAR stuff was)? I'd love to buy that map / directory at the auction

SBS Casino that's as big of an outrage as when they renamed the Showboat to the Castwaways. My guess is it'll never happen anyway.Nazarian's just a front man/pawn anyway SBS is private equity-they don't care about it - they'll end up selling the land when economy improves. Gaming today had some rumors last week that Carl Icahn might buy it and combine with the dormant Fontainebleu site. Not sure that's the remedy we want either. Sahara just needed some TLC and a little better neighborhood

Another classic hotel on the strip gone. =( And now it's all filled with materialistic, "hyped up" big fancy smancy hotels! -_- ugh. the only ones left are riviera, flamingo, ballys and circus circus

@jfsgro I've got something at Las Vegas Sun, where Sam Nazarian appeared at the day that the Sahara closes and put a note at the door saying this: "WILL BE BACK SOON, THANK YOU FOR THESE WONDERFUL 59 YEARS. SAM NAZARIAN 5/16/2011"... So, my best guess is that he'll try to renovate it and become a boutique hotel like the ones that he owns...I hope he will doing it...
