  • i dont like DoF even in real life

  • can this actually be used to make things like shadow of the collosus?

P.S i am a realy big fan of Shadow of the collosus and love game making movie making and stuff

  • @xXAFTEREFFECTSXx

This Depth of Field shader is really more of a screen effect that allows you to control the depth of field (camera focus) in the Torque Game Engine. If you want to make a game like Sotc then I'd recommend checking out our 3D Action Adventure Kit (see our other videos)

  • Cool...so, is it possible to focus on things like in real life, in a game?

  • I have a question about this. Is it true that adding a depth of field shader actually improves the games performance?

  • Hello GrandGaemsDevTeam,

You may be thinking about MIP maps or LOD's that degrade an object's appearance as it moves farther away from the camera. Depth of Field Shaders use a rendering of the screen and then blur pixels based on a depth pass. This takes extra CPU power and therefore makes it slighly more work to render out the scene if depth of field is turned on. Please feel free to contact me if you would like further information!

  • very nice, great effect.

  • WOW! I could use that for my upcoming game, WARZONE: Modern Combat! And I'm thinking about getting the adventure kit, it looks sweet.

  • Thanks!

  • Very nice! Love the kits Ubiq Visuals puts out for GEA. Make sure you check in with the 3rd party manager soon. Lots of changes are happening in the next few weeks that you'll need to be aware of.

    Great work!
