  • My mom had 2 children at the age of 18 and was not poor and did a great job raising her kids she owned her own house by the age of 22 not all teens are lucky as my mom was tho. By the age 26 she had 3 kids I'm the youngest :) I had my son at 21 and got pregnant with him at 20

  • why da fukk cant anyone keep there legs closed until there 21? motharfukkas

  • Comment removed

  • You cant get pregnant without a sperm and i hate how guys act like they got nothing to do with it -_-

  • if there wasn't poor teen's getting knocked up, she wouldn't have a job. that's just the unfortunate truth.

  • Pregnant teens need to be outcasts once again. If it becomes as shameful as it should be, maybe these one in five sluts wouldn't spread their gnarly genes around so much.

p.s. Katie Couric is a joke. When are they finally going to fire her?

  • Here's an idea teens, abstanancy.

  • horrible

  • i think every teenager is stupid.but teen girls are even more

  • Teens are stupid nowadays it seems like they just don't understand the difficulties and hardships. I've been seeing 13,14,15,16 year olds getting pregnant don't they know how hard it is with dealing with school and a kid? and a few of them complain and whine you brought upon yourself for not having a conscience. And I don't know what the hell is wrong with the parents if they don't care about their kid then don't have one but no the idiots still produce.

  • LoL- Staying in school? That's the answer?! Lame.

The problem is not so simple. Girls are going through puberty earlier, education is taking longer to complete, young people are marrying later, young people are just as inclinded to want to be intimate as their great-grandparents were generations ago when getting married at 16 was normal, staying in school does not make those feelings dissappear.

News reports like this make out that the topic is so black and white- It's not.

  • I am 19 and two months pregnant. My fiancé and I are very excited. : )

  • Sometimes things happen. And you have to deal. My sister had her baby at 16 and she does wonderful. I don't encourage it but if it happens deal with it and stay in school!

  • I agree with you, WNA5000.

If they want to act like an adult, then they should be treated like one.

  • Haven't these girls heard of vibrators?

I don't see how a girl could be so desperate for dick that they'd sleep with some stupid teenage boy who lives with his parents and can't even afford to take her out to a nice restaurant.

  • She says this as if all teenagers who get pregnant didn't use condoms or anything. I've heard of more girls getting pregnant on the pill and using condoms than having unprotected sex.

    This is stupid

  • my friend is 17, she has 2 kids, and has much more monny than she needs, and she's the best mother i've ever met.

  • Where did she get the money?

  • by working...

  • I don't think teens make that much money by themselves...

  • Teen girls should not be having kids. Clearly they lack good decision making skills and maturity. Adoption is the only option. These little girls should not make a baby suffer because of their immaturity and bad decisions.

  • You're right, but most teens abort their babies which is as bad as inmature moms.I really dont like it when teenagers let their hormones take action (unlike me) and wund up having sex without a condom, but maybe they dont know about condoms and if thats the case then they should know.

  • No! "Ironic" wasn't the right word, I typed it pretty quickly :P I meant that at first we were bashing opinions and the result of our arguement actually came out to an agreement.

  • Ha, it's ironic how this coversation ended... hmm :)

  • That's true. There's a very fine line when it comes to parenting. You can be friendly, but you can't be friends with your kids and be a good parent because friends typically don't care about responsibility, they care about fun.

  • :( that's really sad

  • I didn't see the comment where you agreed with me.

This is the way I see it:

If you can't provide for a baby in every way, don't have sex. If you have sex, use protection. If you don't use protection, it's your own fault and you shouldn't rely on the government, family or others for your own mistake. If you use protection, accept the consequences responsibly.

I'm saying that you can't group them all into one category since there's so many different ones (rape, condom breaking, and sluts).

  • well those teens make me angry too because a majority of them resort to the government for help and that's when it effects me personally. I'd rather they just give the baby to adoption.

  • huh?

ha ha I'm done talking with you because you're too tunnel-visioned. I like debates and challenging skeptisism, but when you're not willing to admit any sort of medium then there's just no use. Have a good one!

  • I NEVER said that it was okay to get pregnant so young and I will never say that. All I said is that sometimes you can't deteremine what's going to happen and not all teenage pregnancies happen to careless, "loose" girls; it can happen to anyone.

  • So having premarital sex is okay, but creating life is immoral?

In general academics; I attended a charter school which paid for me to take classes at the local university. I was technically done with high school at 16 and I graduated in the top 10% of my class. That's what I'm trying to get across here: I'M a smart, responsible person and this happened to me. There's no possible way that I could've avoided being in that 3% group... except the obvious.

  • And of course I read your post, that's what I don't understand about your "ideal": there's no 100% effective method of protection, so why are you so complacent?

  • Bastard means fatherless... Don't use words you don't know the meaning to.

So how idiotic and ignorant would you be if you didn't get LUCKY that time you had sex when you were 16? At least at 18, I've completed school and received my associate's degree. What would you have done, a mere 16 year-old?

Don't be so quick to judge.

  • Excuse me? I don't know who you think you are, calling me loose. He was the first and only man I've ever slept with, can you say that? 16 is a little more "loose" than 18. And I did use protection when I got pregnant but there's a little thing called "guarantee" which no protection ensures. For a college graduate you're rather naive and presumptuous. My baby does have a father and we're getting married this Summer, so you can take your ignorance wherever idiocy is condoned.

  • Haha, easier said than done. You're probably still in junior high... and even if you're not, sex can happen so easily. I got pregnant the first time I had sex. I was 18 and I hadn't even gotten my first kiss until I was 17. I was very cautious and to everyone who knows me, I was the last person they'd expect to get pregnant. So no, it's not THAT easy to avoid.

I do agree though; if you're not financially, physically, and emotionally prepared to have a baby-don't have sex: Masturbate! :)

  • you wouldn't have to keep the baby in order to deliver it [adoption]. no matter how it happens, teen pregnancy is very difficult and can happen to ANYONE having sex, protected or not.

  • ok gay!

first of all, in the UK not enough woman are having babies!

and America's bitchin that there are way to many teens havin babies! christ this world confuses me especially because i'm a young mum!

  • We're upset because it's the tax payer's money that pays for most of these teens kids.

Paying for a kid you don't know is upsetting.

  • Instead of pushing abstinence or condoms, why not promote the use of VIBRATORS?

Instead of saying they need to DELAY SEX, how about USE A VIBRATOR INSTEAD?

  • lol or dry humping

  • I know, it always seems like the girls get the 'short end of the stick' when they get pregnant. Its kind of sexist in my opinion.

  • harsh...that is called being a bad mother

  • God I'm glad I have a supportive mother...

  • No, you're glad that you have a mom to take care of your burden. This is what a lot of young teens do: dismiss responsibility to their parents/grandparents.

  • Um, jackass, you don't know me or my mother. My mom wouldn't take care of my "burden"but she sure as hell wouldn't kick me out on my ass and refuse to help me at all. Get a life

  • LOL, don't get all pissy because you can't handle the truth.

  • What truth?

What the fuck are you talking about?

I'm sure you're about 40 and obese. Get a life. I mean seriously, how many times are you going to comment on this?

  • LOL, for someone who has a kid, you respond like a child. I'm only a few years older than you and I don't cry when I get insulted.

Hope your kid grows up with more common sense than you did, kid.

  • WTF are you talking about? I don't have a kid. Unless accidental invitro is now an option...I highly doubt I'll be a mother until I actually am an adult.

And I'm 16, technically still a child. And yes. I'm crying so hard right now.

  • It's kinda depressing. There's nothing we can really do about.

  • ...it

  • i'm having a baby at 16, but i can't imagine having one twice...

  • ugghhh, excuse me? guys are totally in it as well. if ur a father, then ur as responsible for a kid as the mother is. a girl doesn't get pregnant by herself

  • plus, ever heard of rape? asshole.

  • you can't tell teens not to have sex no matter how hard you try. they're gonna do it. and if they get pregnant, they have options. and if they're not happy with the one(s) they choose, that's their own fault. who are we to say anything about how they should live their life.

and they're not ruining their life. my cousin had her daughter when she was 16 and she's very happy. she has been before, during, and after she got pregnant. she even went to college and is now happily raising her daughter

  • this is old news. teen pregnancy has been around for ever.
