Having equipment is only 1/2 of it. The other is knowing how to use it. Which they don't. Douglas Cty borrowed a pickup plow from Cobb Cty and I watched them use it wrong. Wrong angle, speed and lost control and nearly spun out.
I'm orig. from the NE and we got about about 1.5 to 2 inches of ice in Douglas Cty and it was pretty bad. Surprisingly, most people had the sense to stay the @#&! home. If you have rear wheel drive the trick is to load up the trunk w/heavy stuff and bring kitty litter.
I loved when we had all of that snow. However, it made me kind of upset when KSU was closed for 4 days. I was suppose to start my job on January 10, but school was closed. For each day of school closed, that was a day I couldn't work. For me, the snow was not a problem. It was the fact that Georgia doesn't have the equipment necessary to clear the stuff from the road. I had fun playing in it though.
Funny you should say that! I had the SAME problem! I had electric and internet and I work out of home too - we probably put more time into work than most since it is always there waiting for us. Part of the reason I needed that Red Bull - everyone was off of work, but I needed the energy to keep working. lol!
You go girl! I didn't walk passed my garage door opening and even that was only to let the dog out. The only downfall about that snow for me was that everybody in the house had days off and I still had to work since I work from home and we had electricity and the internet.
@tracysrocket I know...it was hard enough keeping it steady walking through the ice and snow. I have seen some people with a camera that stays absolutely steady as if it was mounted, but they are walking around with their arm out (Shaytards). I am not sure if it is some sort of cool mechanism that keeps it still?
@babypunk420 Hey there! :) I haven't seen coupons for Red Bull (would love to find some!). But, I am always trying to hit the gas stations that run the specials. I think I know the prices for most of the stores in the area and go to the ones that are the cheapest that week. LOL! I just bought 4 of the 2 12oz for $5. The cheapest I have seen was for a short time at the grocery store for the 19.2 cans for $3.99. That was fun while it lasted. :)
@BuyWag lol! Even better...they sent me some Wiiings. :) I put a video response to this video showing the package and the note they sent. It was really cool....now if I could only fix my keyboard as I spilled some Red Bull on it a few days ago and they are all sticky! Ooops!
@snowgangrecords thanks buddy...I am sure this is nothing for you up in Canada, but it was fun down here without anyone being able to treat the roads. I am kind of disappointed we are missing this newest storm going across the states...we just got heavy rain.
@Cjohnsonmyer014 There's no Cracker Barrell on Barrett Parkway. The Cracker Barrell in Kennesaw is on Chastain Rd, down the road from Kennesaw State University.
I officially love Red Bull even more if that is even possible! They sent me a care package of love because of this video yesterday. I will show it in one of my daily video uploads in the next couple of days. Love you RedBull for sending me my wiiings!
@skotosman I am glad you didn't get hurt and yes, the coffee was the hardest part, lol! You are right, it has been VERY amusing to watch! At 4:00 am the other day, I kept hearing a truck burning his wheels up trying to get up another little hill here and he would NOT give up and kept sliding back. After 25 minutes he made it - but as soon as he did, I saw a police car drive in...one of the neighbors reported him (definitely not me)! Love to see the pics you took!
@dizzershania123 I am so sorry - I am not sure what you mean. Do you mean which program I used for the video? I used Windows Live Movie Maker to put the parts together, and You Tube to make the notations. I definitely need more experience with it though.
It's not the snow in the south that causes any issues. Even I can drive on just snow. It's the ice, and we always get lots of it. Our temps barely go above 32 during the day, and at night they go down into the teens causing any slush to refreeze. Nobody no matter where they grew up can drive on 5 inches of ice. A car in NY with normal tires is not going to get any better traction on ice, than a car of the same in GA. GDOT here needs to use ice melt. It's that simple.
Was a headache watching this. Make your captions last a lil longer please. So many words so few moments to read them all. I had to pause a lot. This is gonna give someone motion sickness!
Other than that grats on the red-bull. I work at a Grocery Store so I was well-stocked on everything I needed as I put what I needed aside when I was working Saturday so when I got home that day we had everything like so many people missed out on.
By the way, why didn't you fly back? Red bull gives you wings
@matthewory Ahhh yes....Dramamine alert! I started to make the captions longer, but my computer started freezing up, so I decided to do it "later"...procrastination! Need to do that today - thank you for the reminder! :)
It is funny - couple days later, when I got half way up the hill I fell on the ice and my Red Bull started sliding down the hill. I was like, "Nooooo....not the Red Bull!!" Luckily there were a lot of people out and someone caught it. Haha! Could have used those wings then.
@TheDuzies It has been seriously insane up here in John's Creek. Lots of frozen spots. Nearly killed myself driving two or three times not going fast at all. You are super nice to carry a hot cup of coffee for someone as far as you did. I'd of definitely made them pay 10$ for it. The hill in our neighborhood was fun watching people try, because it was so steep that people slid back down it.... Took us til tuesday afternoon to chomp and shovel all the ice and snow. I got some nice pics monday.
i live in indianapolis and we seem to be getting a snow storm once a week, im sick of it. i grew up in florida so needless to say, winters up here are hell.
red bull is vile, but I had to walk 4.7 miles each way monday and tuesday (no power, no phones and kroger was closed monday) to get groceries. then I wised up and took my dirt bike to run my errands today. >.<
@MaxximII Oh wow...we are lucky in that regards. We never lost power and we have a Target store about 1 mile away, so it wasn't too bad. They JUST treated that hill of ours yesterday and it is finally passable. 5 school snow days in a row!
@TheLemrahc01 lol! Sometimes it takes a mini-disaster to get to know the neighbors. Met many of them in the last few days once everyone else came out and started walking to the stores.
@odewepe :) Yeah, I could use a free year of Red Bull...I would even take a free week of Red Bull! Just realized I need to do another trip today....by foot again or I will end up like the truck in your video. haha!
Fun vid! I am a Southern boy and I used to live there I know how that goes down there, now I live in Colorado so I get a bit of a giggle watching Atl freak out
@mikeguy324 Ty! :). It would be such a nightmare if we got a Colorado type blizzard here! Here it is day 3, and the roads are still not treated in most areas and the temps went down to around 17 degrees last night, so everything is frozen, and now I am seeing many people walking to the store to get food since we are still stuck because our hill has not been treated. There were about 10 people from our complex on the hill yesterday trying to pick the ice off of it so we can get out. lol!
Do you know there's a city in Canada (White Rock) that registered a much warmer winter season (2009 - 2010) than Atlanta? It was not only warmer; but it was also MUCH, MUCH milder than Atlanta after factoring in wind chill. It's actually a fairly common occurence, too! For reference, White Rock's winters are NORMALLY much milder than they are in Nashville, Tennessee! If you require so, I am MORE than willing to provide the proof!
OK. You're obviously one of the smart ones! You realize I wouldn't even bother to mention it if I wasn't sure it were true! The people that are most unlikely to believe it (whom usually refuse to believe it!) are people who were born and raised up north but live in the much milder south (i.e. they are experienced with southern winters). This variety of northerner is SO STUPID because they think the only variable influencing the mildness equation is latitude (north/south)!
U need to find a Food Depot cause they sell red bulls for atleast $2 and some change its awesome :D
