  • Good for the video, bad for the yak.....I had just bought the thing!

    The fix was easy, though.

    Thanks!

  • Lol good video

  • Oh I've got in narrowed down to either the revolution or the outback now. Hard decision really. I was looking very closely at the pro-Angler but after a test drive I found the platform to be incredable to be honest.......... but once i rode it around I found it to be a dern tug boat ( sad to say).

I think the outback and Revo should perform so similar to each other that it should be hard to tell the differentiate between the two. Even stability shouldn't be a big difference.

  • I have the outback, but wondering if I shouldn't have held out for the revolution. The revolution would be more of a paddle AND pedal boat, whereas the outback is more for just pedalling, since it is not as sleek and slender as the outback.......

BUT......if you like long trips, staying overnight on the river, then you need storage capacity, which the outback has in droves.

  • Had I not gotten a huge discount on a BLEMISHED yak, (you couldn't see where it was blemished...) I probably would have grabbed the revo.

The best thing to do is thoroughly test drive each one and see which one feels the best.....just keep in mind, you CAN paddle the outback, it's jut not as streamlined for thaty purpose. There are some real good "Outback vs Revolution" pros and cons debates on the various yak forums out there....check em out, and good luck!

  • My turn will come soon enough I'm sure when the new hobie arrives. I can therefore anticipate many trips to chiropracter after it comes :-) ....... after I get broken in I'm gonna explore florida alot more while trying to avoid the inevitable " east coast breakers".

  • Yep. Just be gentle once you get it. I broke the rudder pin coming into shore, and lost some gear-including some nice binoculars.

    Entertained a few beachgoers, though.

You have to treat a Hobie a little differrent than other yaks, I have learned. You WILL be happy you got it after your first ride....it's great on the long rivers for some hands-free fishing or photography.

Which model are you looking to get?

  • Theres no easy way to land em when those east coast breakers roll in. :-) Try surf fishin up to yer waist while these breakers come. Personally they're easier to handle on top of the water :-)

  • @MajDanger

Yep, DEFINITELY a lesson learned....I tried wading in and holding on to the back, but that didn't work. I hate the thought that it is so difficult to manage coming inshore on a yak, but what can you do except for wait for extreme low tide?
