There is something wrong with your software or something. I can hold 24 pounds on a K03S at 5,000 w/ Unitronics stage 2 software. You need to get your tune checked. If you've got a K04 you should be holding well over 15 Pounds at those revs.
@Davaith Back in 2002 i got a nice blue wolfsburg with sport NEUSPEED suspension chip and air filter and bilstein shock. i was doing 146 mph on a stock turbo and diverter valve. Back in 2002 these 4 parts cost about 2300 $ it was dammed expensive for import car compare to Honda witch was quite cheap. is it still like that ?on 1/4 miles i have done 13.9 sec... and i got a kid and another one and bought a jeep Cherokee for the growing family....i miss that time a little bit.
@tekyguy nice. what APR tune are you running? and turbo? id like to just re do my whole turbo ecu setup...the guy before me bought it and never did anyhing with it..says its stock but it has a FMIC and a CAI and a forge valve and boost gauge that reads 15psi but it doesnt hold. itll holf like mabey 7 psi up a hill..
@soxonmyfeet APR K04 93 octane tune, K04-001 turbo, APR 2.5" turbo back exhaust. Since then I have done some more mods. APR FMIC, Mishimoto Aluminum Radiator, Mocal Oil Cooler, Draft 42 catch can. Water Meth is next along with an MBC, the car still has too high of IAT's at the track with the small K04 generating sooo much heat when I'm on the track. On the street there are ZERO issues.
@79TransAm78 I have never dyno'd the car but will soon since I am adding Water Meth Injection and an MBC. I think it's around 260 HP now and close to 300 lbft torque at the flywheel. We shall see!!!
@asmith929 it's a VDO vision. Very basic mechanical gauge. Works great, but buzzes from the boost lol! Don't mess with the buzz damper either...they wear out and mess up your readings!
@caios77 the problem with t3/t4 is you have to custom tune. It's just easy to slap in something APR or GIAC has a nice tune for and be done with it. I need a GT28RS (aka APR stage3+ for $5,000) and be done!
True man Money is big issue when it come down to it. They have unitronic which use to have a bunch of different maps and allow custom tuning. Idk i bought my tC and just forgot everything about VW. I like GIAC but hey man still a quick car tho.
@tekyguy I agree. Im on the GIAC software. I get to 146 and then it hits a wall. I think the sixth gear would put the car back in a better torque band and push it to 160. right before redline seems to be the weakest point and that's exactly where we are sitting from 140-145ish. I don't even bother redlining at the track or in a street race. It's pointless, I shift just after 6k.
@petoria0013 True, you can do it either way. It's all about final drive ratio. But I love the current 1st through 5th gear ratios and they work well at my local road courses so I wouldn't want to change that at all. Honestly, the car does not need to go faster top speed. 147mph is fast enough for a Jetta LOL!

If I had a 6th gear I think the car would do close to 160, not sure. She doesn't hold much boost at high RPM.
