Love the song choice! Haha Ants of the Sky is one of my faves! I'm ordering this unit and can't wait to put it in. Good choice with the music selection to really show everything.
@Turbojuice1603 Thanks! I tried to represent a reasonably number of genres without playing anything that might generate angry "WTF ARE YOU LISTENING TO" type comments :)
I hope this unit works as well for you as it has been working for me.
plz i need a quick response from you ! i wanna buy it. but will it improve the sound quality over the stock unit? and are you using stock speakers? get to me ASAP! thanks
Any aftermarket deck will improve your sound quality *drastically*, even with stock speakers. The deck I have has a built in 7-band equalizer which will give you more control over the sound than most decks which usually only have 3-band (Low, Med, High) EQs.
In this video I was running stock speakers up front with aftermarket Pioneer 6x9s in the back.
Now I have some Infinity Kappas up front. Love em.
do you need any adaptors that go from the headunit to the OEM plugs in the car. i have an 05 honda civic, and just ordered this radio. or will the factory plugs from my car hook up to the headunit without other adaptors or wires?
@xxxjohnsonnnxxx Yes. Every aftermarket head unit requires you to buy a wiring harness for your make and model of car. It will make it nice and easy to adapt the new deck to the factory harness without having to cut wires.
Just ask at any stereo dealer nearby; they will have one. Typically about $15 to $30, with a few exceptions.
I'm thinking about buying this CD player for my Infiniti. I just have one question. Can you change the lighting to other colors? All my dash lights and buttons are red. Great video too.
High-end car manufacturers have only just recently started adding the functionality of units like this one into cars, and I bet you'd pay a hell of a lot more for their system than you will for this.
Hey Rage, this is sweet dude, i just bout a 01 Civic EX, i was wondering what year and trim is this?
also could you point me in the direction of that metra kit, i really want to do double din, did you have to do anything dramatic, such as drill other holes for mounting etc.
Thanks, This is an 02 Civic, I have no idea what trim if any.
The metra kit can be ordered from the Metra website, but I found mine in a local stereo shop. There is a metal cage in your dash where the stock radio sits, you can bolt right into that with an aftermarket deck no problem. No drilling required. The metra piece is just a clip-on for the front to make it look flush. Just call around and ask if anyone has a Double-DIN dash kit for an 01 civic. You'll find something!
Nice, looks very OEM. I have a question, hope you can help. I have the same car you do and I wish to install a double din stereo with your same Metra 95-7899 you have, the stereo I want to install is the JVC KW-AVX820 with detachable face. Do you think I will be able to fit it with that Metra Kit?. I am new to this double din area and I am not sure... is every double din stereo standard size, so I can install ANY double din in it?. Is the opening of the trim enough for any DD stereo? THANK YOU:)
Hey, thanks for the compliment. You should be able to fit pretty well any Double DIN head unit in the dash without any trouble and the metra part will fit around it just fine. The only other thing you need is a couple screws to hold it in place.
From wiki:
Head units generally come in either single DIN (180 x 50 mm panel) or double DIN (180 x 100 mm panel) size. The depth is not standardized. The US standard for a DIN radio is 2" x 7" and the Double DIN sized radio is a 4" x 7".
The hole in a typical Honda Double DIN-style opening is about 3/4 of a centimeter larger than a typical DD style head unit. This is due to the fact that this unit specifically is 170mm wide FLUSH, that means the front display is the same width as the rest of the metal case which is hidden from view. In contrast, My HONDA tape deck from my 00 CR-V has a 170mm case, but with a 190mm front display area. The METRA kit fills in that 10-20mm left over for the factory deck so the new deck fits.
It took me a long time to discover how awesome that song was, I kept dismissing it after the first 30 seconds, assuming the song wasn't going to get any better. Surprise surprise.
Unfortunately, no. That's one thing that Pioneer never seems to put in their decks. I'm thinking about replacing the dash LED's with blue ones though so it all matches up.

@strtballer32 No, this deck won't do other colors; Just blue.
However, the new Pioneer models will do multiple colors. I just installed one in a friend's truck the other day.

how high does the subwoofer control go up to 10 or 15?
GoldenEagle526 2 years ago
Each of the 7 bands on the Equalizer goes from -6 to +6. There is a sub boost that I believe goes to 15, however I don't use it.

Nice Unit.
I wonder if that would fit in a 91 GMC truck.

I'm not seeing any Double-DIN kits on the Metra website for a 91 GMC Sierra, but it may still be possible with some custom work :P
