my Father is a pilot and he works at the airport for a part time job but does not fyy plane only does for hobby and the airport are thinking about extending the runway for major flights to increase the buisness money to ncl and services in airport so they are having a budget British airways might operate 747-400 to places in us and Australia but not for a definite so if British airways say no then they will ask virgin Atlantic to see if they will do it so if British airways say yes then good
This then proves 747's can operate at Newcastle. Imagine the increase in everything, popularity, services, economy for the airport/region if they decided to make them more functional. Newcastle > New York. That would be great. What its only 5 hours away too.. Thereabouts.
planes can land and take off at newcastle. Newcastle airport is trying to set up a link from newcastle to new york , the planes flying would be 747's . So it looks like it can fit it
@clubhabbo If NCL got a NYC link, it would most likely would be a 752 as most other airport outside LHR have. Surely Continental wouldn't use a 747 in NCL, American Airlines don't have 747, Northwest I don't think would come to NCL and if it was BA i'd see it more toward a 767 ...
@clubhabbo If a plane was to fly to New York I don't think it would a 747 ... not even MAN has a 747 for New York, if it was Delta for example that would be an A330, AA was orginally planned as a 757 and continental uses 757 from it's UK routes other than LGW or LHR ...
@clubhabbo the plane was virtually empty and had just over enough fuel capacity on board to get to london so it was running on fumes, it it were fully loaded, it would never of made it off the tarmac

I thought newcastle airport's runway was too short for 747s to land and takeoff
