Putting aside the issue of meat eating and morality, popular and cute animals often inspire the most rage. Example, seals were never endangered, killed quickly and their meat WAS used, not just their fur (even though they taste like slimey swimming pool) yet the hunt is restricted due to campaining. If the whale were to recover, would the Japanese still seem like such monsters? Most likely, and that's a shame - hunting sustainably is a seperate issue from hunting at all.

I watch the show Whale Wars. I like it very much, and the two memebers [Potts (Australia) & Giles (UK)] went on to deliver a letter telling the Japanese they were whaling in an illegal area. I find it very interesting to see this from the Ishun Maru's point of view, however, the Steve Irwin did try to radio several times before attempting to board this ship.

And the condition was not to attack the whalers during the hand over. Then Japanese government asked Australian government to help the situation. The result was this. If Japanese took them back home and pressed charge against them, you(anti-whalers) wouldn't be happy, would you? I've seen lots of critics about Japanese taking "hostage". Practically, it's not illegal. IWC regulation allowed Japan to carry out the scientific whaling in the Antarctic ocean. Japan is doing that to have more information about whales to restart commercial whaling. Also, IWC states that after the research, you're not allowed to waste the meat. There is Antarctic Treaty as well. This is beyond the whaling, more like politics. Do more research.
The sad situation is that more than 50% of the gray whales have died between 1999-2007. The gray whales plow the bottom of the ocean, releasing millions of sea creatures, that feeds millions of birds and fish in our ocean. Global warming is hastening the decline in whales and fish. It's more of a

I watch the show Whale Wars. I like it very much, and the two memebers [Potts (Australia) & Giles (UK)] went on to deliver a letter telling the Japanese they were whaling in an illegal area. I find it very interesting to see this from the Ishun Maru's point of view, however, the Steve Irwin did try to radio several times before attempting to board this ship.

From a legal perspective, I focused on the actions of the SSCS tactics.
Once you accept the premise that the ends justify the means because the law is ineffective, whales are just the first cause upon which to initiate offensive operations.
Escalation is inevitable here increasing the chances of a tragic ending with these direct action tactics. Boarding is illegal regardless of the fact that they ARE whaling.

What Japan is doing is accepted by IWC(International Whaling Commission). I put the link to the "Scientific Permit Whaling" page in About This Video section. You can read what it's about. Also I'll put the link to Wikipedia page about whaling. Actually, I've learnt something now. America is a whaling country hunting 50 Bowhead Whales a year from a population of about 8,000.

Practically, it's not illegal. IWC regulation allowed Japan to carry out the scientific whaling in the Antarctic ocean. Japan is doing that to have more information about whales to restart commercial whaling. Also, IWC states that after the research, you're not allowed to waste the meat. There is Antarctic Treaty as well. This is beyond the whaling, more like politics. Do more research.

The sad situation is that more than 50% of the gray whales have died between 1999-2007. The gray whales plow the bottom of the ocean, releasing millions of sea creatures, that feeds millions of birds and fish in our ocean. Global warming is hastening the decline in whales and fish. It's more of a

They were hungry and what else would you find on a Japanese ship. Tacos? They were tied up to this ship's railing. And why should they do a hunger strike? These men are Ghandhi. Keep to the evidence, this film shows clearly that the Japanese took hostages. Calling them stupid for eating, is probably the only saving grace for the Japanese, that they didn't starve them too.
