This really takes me back. I actually forgot that I even liked this song. I can't believe I remember when this aired; around the same time Christina did one. The networks were competing, LOL.
She can sing beautifully and also when she goes 100% live. I've always loved her voice and preferred it to any other. While singers all try to outsing one another, she doesn't give a damn about showing how powerful her voice can be and sings the way she wants to. And while she conveys emotions, the others just sound like a bunch of wild animals desperately trying to stand out. If you want me to get right down to the core of my argument, it is that, in terms of vocal ability and technique, Britney has nothing. Her vocal range is about one octave, something that all humans possess. She cannot belt sing. She cannot run a melisma. She has no technical arsenal whatsoever. She cannot sustain long notes, she cannot execute a vibrato or a legato. She may be able to carry a tune

Look at things like SNL, Most award shows she's performed on and most of her ballads, she sings live or with a track in order to keep her vocals strong while dancing her ass off. She can sing beautifully and also when she goes 100% live. I've always loved her voice and preferred it to any other. While singers all try to outsing one another, she doesn't give a damn about showing how powerful her voice can be and sings the way she wants to. And while she conveys emotions, the others just sound like a bunch of wild animals desperately trying to stand out. They only manage to wow superficial people who are satisfied with a couple of high notes and glass-shattering thunders.
