I don't think Casadesus gets enough credit; he left us a fabulous recorded legacy, and is a superb technician as well as compelling musician. This video clip proves it. His Mozart Piano Concerti are a marvel, as well as his Ravel recordings; I also like his Beethoven, especially Sonatas Nos. 23 and 24.
It is too bad that more people don't know how great he was, but among people who really know and love the art of the piano, he is a special figure. So we are lucky to know of him.
To me, his Mozart concerti represent some of the most beautiful and balanced Mozart ever recorded.
He always plays with this divine, Apollonian certitude and inspiration, always providing the right mix of intellect and passion. Incredible pianist!!! If you don't "understand" a piece after hearing a Casadesus performance, there is no hope...

His Ballades are wonderful! Too many have never heard of him. Today's young pounders should listen to his playing and learn something!

The Sonata no. 3 is very difficult, especially the third movement. Casdesus has no problems with it, and he performs it in a unique way.
