This is a pretty decent song, but the production (the drum machine, the synth bass, etc) is very 80's sounding. If you mixed out Barbra's voice, you might mistake this for any of a number of contemperaneous MTV darlings whose names are now forgotten.

I've often said that a lot of veteran rock groups fell prey to label "suits" who tried to update their sound and image for the 80's. Judging from this, it looks like Barbra had the same problem.

Being a big Who fan, I remember being shocked when this came out, and I saw Roger Daltrey playing her boyfriend in the video. But at the time, Townshend had broken up The Who, and Roger probably did this while in between lame solo records and even lamer movie projects.
