  • wow when the male dancers swing her i thought she must of hit the floor a few times when they were practicing lol. and the most astonishing thing these days is we are stuck with kesha and bieber for entertainment, kesha needs a scrub up in the bath and bieber needs to drop his balls. these people dancing in this video cannot be faulted they are spectacular

  • at 3:39 it looks like the lady gets a face or chestful of floor. she must of built up a big trust with the male dancers not to drop her. this must of taken some practicing and skills.

  • Amazing. Beautiful.

  • Ive sent a private message to the relatives of the ganjou brothers and juanita as my grandfather worked with them as an acrobat around the 1930's and I would love to know if there is any documentation/photos that included my grandfather..

  • Mesmerizing !

  • Joy Ganjou was my mother's cousin and my godmother. As a teeneager living in London I used to go to Cafe Dacquise for meal with 'family' as Uncle Serge used to call my freebie dinners!!

  • Taken from the film Variety Jubilee

    made in 1943

The song Richmond Hill is one of those you just cannot get out of your head

The acrobatics are astounding, their merit beyond description.

If we only still had Music Hall.

  • Wow, I would love to see the full act! In Australia we have a trio recreating a 'toss the girl' act in traditional vaudeville style. It was amazing when I saw it a month ago. They are being taught by a performer who toured with these guys for a while.

What are the chances of getting a copy of the full act on DVD?

  • I want to keep her in my pocket, how cute is she?

  • Thank you so much for this video!

  • I was a member of a Danish Acrobat troupe the five olanders,we worked with the Ganjous in 1948 in the Tommy Trinder show touring uk.

This is a wonderfull act and ever so nice

  • que circo soleil ni que nada ,,, pa que vean que guy laliberte no reinvento el circo jajaj

  • This is so very interesting. I was Serge's care assistant for a while (he must have been pushing 80 yrs at that time) and he was such a delightful person:"nothing special..." he'd always say when I asked of his needs. He was as fit as a fiddle with a delicious sense of humor. When I enquired of the figurines that stood on his mantlepiece, he told me stories of his earlier life, saying they calculated that his wife (Juanita?) had flown over four kilometres in her career. So nice to see this video

  • How amazing! Serge and Juanita were my Great Aunt and Uncle I believe... My mother showed me the place where their restaurant was in South Kensington. Do you know anything about that? My understanding is they ran that after their career on stage finished. Was it a Polish restaurant? I'm not sure why I think that because my family's English - maybe it was a Polish restaurant after them... If you have any stories I would much appreciate it!

  • Yes I remember now - Joy's stage name was 'Juanita'. If anyone can shed any light on their life after performing I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

  • Sorry Joshbonga, Serge never mentioned the Kensington restaurant to me. I was his care assistant for approx a month. An elderly lady (name?) from across the hall used to visit him at 5pm on the dot every day. Quite by chance she'd moved into the same building as he, having known him some 40 years earlier! Imagine their surprise at meeting again after all that time. I'm sure she was in love with him. "Oh no", he'd say,"not you again", feigning disinterest, then they'de have a great laugh together

  • My mother loved the song about Richmond Hill and often sang parts of it years ago. Does anybody know her name?

  • They appeared in the 1934 summer season at the Blackpool Opera House (biggest stage in UK) for Jack Taylor's productions in 'King Folly'. Billy Bennett was the main star. My mother was head girl in the dance troupe. I'm researching her career in the 1920s and 30s. The Ganjou bros and Juanita must have been very young in 1934 then? They'd have to be fit doing twice nightly shows and matinees on Wednesdays and Thursdays! In the summer! Phew!

  • Hi.Lady ST. Great clip of a very skilled variety act.

I have also sent you a personal message. Have you received it?

  • Wow this is so good. I've been searching for a video of the ganjous & juanita. There was an Australian named 'clete ball' who worked with them, learned there act and then did his own version as a trio. He's now in his late 70's. We (my acrobatic partners and I) have been given the honor of learning this act from him, and we want to do it in it's most original form! Do you have any more footage of them?

  • I find your reply most interesting. Joy Marlow and her parents were friends of my parents and lived in Mighell Avenue Ilford. I went to her parents golden wedding when I was a small child. I did meet Joy and Serge (I think) but I was too small to remember. I was only about 5 at the time. My parents were very pround to have known them too. The brothers opened a resturant called Daquise and by a strange chance it has always been popular in our family before we realised the connection.

  • The acrobatic dance is awesome! I can't beleive the amount of relaxed trustfrom the girl, and the precision of the movements. Quite pretty and impressive, thank you.
