The NME ran a story back in November, that The Faces are getting back together. This is a great song (as were many of their others)but I don't see any point in them getting back together now. Rod was only ever an (extremely) poor man's Steve Marriott and the master songwriter was Ronnie Lane (rip). Go and see a gig?....I'd much rather watch Ronnie Lane and Slim Chance on youtube!
I am soooooo new to you tube. And over whelmed at the music and videos I've seen. Talk about Da Ja Vue. I've not heard this song in so long. Thank you Thank you..XOXO
Thank you for the wonderful video... and also for acknowledging that, though Rod Stewart is a great rock icon, the Faces were every bit as talented!Truely, if it hadn't been for them... where would he be now?
really good video,,turn it black and white and add some scrathes and dust effect and your laughing.just my opinion though.love the song and the video.
I always think of the Bob Seger lyric from Against the Wind when I hear this, "I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then". Opposite points of view concerning perhaps the naive innocence of childhood, or the longing to go back and fix past mistakes.
just do a little search people-and open your ears---it's a song written by ronnie lane and ronnie wood---lead sung by ronnie wood. Rod wasn't there at this session and his voice is MUCH more raw (in a good way)
I was 15 when I heard this and just thought it was a cool tune but didn't understand what he was singing about. 10 years later and I know exactly what he means and exactly how it feels. But it happens to us all and I reckon it's good to have your heart broken once. Makes you grow up, stronger, smarter and more philosophical about life.

to the people who keep saying that this songs makes them "happy" when they hear it, i ask, have you listened to the lyrics? Despite it being upbeat, i agree w/akhile that the song errs towards depressing. But hey, whatever puts a smile on your face..
yeah its like that, but that makes it even better. A lot of Beatles songs are like that too. I think it makes people happy cause its a sad subject so they can relate, and then a happy tune to lift you back up. great song.
this song is beautiful. it kind of connects everyone everywer cause there is no one who can say they don't like this song or who doesn't feel happy when they hear it. it's amazing that way.
I usually hate user made videos but this one is actually well done and edited... was this done in Seattle by chance.. Some places looked really familiar.

actually... I read that it wasn't Rod Stewart that sang this song... he was angry with his band mates at the time of the recording.

fudgetron,
Yeah, you got it.
Great movie. Lotta great songs also.
For personal reason's this song comes back to me, now and then.
But my Grandfather, never spoke of watching out for how women may treat me.
He and my Grandmother were probably the best example, for me, of how in love two people could be.
I see it now.
"I wish I knew, what I know now, when I was older."
Take care.
