  • very nice save .......and all those who call it a fake ..try buying one and see if you can do it .......and quit calling everything a fake because you lack the skills

  • This was just like that movie Flight of the Phoenix!

  • This is not a fake. I've done it several times on RealFlight.

  • it was all set up :) cuz he just said : uuuh.. and he didn ´t even panik.. at all... he knew what to do to fly it without one wing... you guyz should firt think :D but it´s still cool the way he´s abel to do this XDD

  • @dengeondengeon just because he didnt panik doesnt mean it was set up...if you are a true good pilot you can stay calm in crisis situations...in real and rc planes

  • @GoEflight true :)

  • it was all set up :) cuz he just said : uuuh.. and he didn ´t even panik.. at all... he knew what to do to fly it without onw wing... you guyz should firt think :D but it´s still cool the way he´s abel to do this XDD

  • atleast i did not shater..

  • fake

  • looks like that wing panel SLID off. My audio is off but im sure hot shot didnt admit to leaving the panel screw OFF. 5 star save, 1 star vid

  • you got all my comoiments!!

  • It'll never fly, the vertical stab is too big!

  • awesome Pilot

  • Good Pilot on Work!

  • Thats bill hempel doing that.

    It was set up thing.

  • Hold my diet coke and watch this shit! Thats how we land a RC!!

  • Holy crap! GREAT save by the pilot!

  • Good thing you know how to do a knife-edge.

  • and she flew again.......lol

  • did u find the wing?

  • A classic "Now what!?" situation. Yes, it's still up there but how am I gonna land it? :):) Nice saving finally. Well done.

  • Awesome!

  • BECAUSE THE ENGINE PUTS OUT MORE POWER THAN THE WIEGHT OF THE PLANE IT FLIES AS A HELO NOT AS A PLANE NEEDING LIFT ON THE WINGS.

  • Fast thinking

  • wow nice save

  • how the hell did you do that.

  • usually the low FPS footages are fakes. cos it's edited.

  • Oof the best pilots ever!

  • IMPRESSIVE save! :) Fantastic piloting! I can knife-edge a bit myself, but don't consider myself to be an expert at it . Closest to this I've pulled off was landing a "foamie" who's brushless motor fell off in flight - & like this plane, it lived to "fly another day". :)

  • wow that's crazy

  • wow!! aswoom pilot!!!!!!!!!!

  • EXCELLENT CONTROL,great vid,thanx for sharing,cheers

  • so awsome

  • If u have enough power you dont need wings!

  • Damn......you can drive that beast.....I bet it takes many plane crashes to pull shit off like that.....good job

  • xD lol

*crash* man says: no dammage lets fly again baby

    xD

  • Godlike.

  • He has nice legs.

  • Good pilot, very skilled but he had lucky too!

  • Can verify pilot as Bill Himple. Google him.

  • Not fake. Good pilot and good luck. Similer happened to me when I lost the covering, did a similer manouvoure and got it down in a partial Knife-edge.

    Good piloting. A+

  • actually in the early days of rc planes there was some models whit just one main wing and one tail wing designed for gliding in circles !!!

  • That is all staged. I know that it is cool and all but it's fake. They showed it on a show on discovery channel and I've been doing that on the RC flight simulator for quite some time. It's not that hard just need to use the rudder. And it's not that good of skillz. Just the landing. But's that's all

  • Not fake... I was there at the field myself. TRCC in Tucson, AZ Bill Hempel is 1 of the best in the biz. Most of you little kids cry because He is better than you. Keep your little flight sim, some day when you grow up you can play with big toys too.

  • ok this may not be staged but it still is not the most amazing thing i've ever seen done by an r/c plane. this has been done many times and he's not the best in the biz. there are many other pilot's who can do the same thing and land a hell of alot better. So i don't give him props.

  • false

  • Lets see you do it if it takes so little skill.

  • Repect!!!!!!!

    Very god Pilot

  • Well done, good skill and reaction, not to mention the beleif you could rescue it. Being honest the same happened to me but I just watched it tumble to the ground, just did not think of the knife edge to try and save it, This video will always be a reminder of what is possible. Those who dont believe this there is a sim out there that can actually train you for this unfortunate event. I was just too late to see this video or have the sim.

  • lol, that whole "action" thing SUCKED^^ no offence ofc... Nice flying skills, way better than mine;)

  • Thats NO Fake YOU chump!!!

  • holy shit! very nice save

  • Brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The only way Bill could have grabbed it out of the air during a hover is if he lost both wings. The weight of one wing would offset the hover and it would crash. Even if he did lose both wings, he still wouldn't be able to hover because the torque would be too great and it would start torque rolling so fast you wouldnt be able to grab it. It would also lose thrust if it torques fast enough. I give all the credit to (one of) the worlds best rc pilots, Bill Hemple. He is an amazing pilot.

  • Good save !!

  • Brilliant save gents anyone that says this is a fake is a nob.

  • Yes it's real. Basically in a knife edge the wing becomes the vertical stabiliser , the elevator becomes the rudder and the vert stab becomes elevator while the fuselage becomes a really bad wing (better on a foamy). If you keep it on the right angle the engine will keep it in the air as will the rudder. In this case it was actually lighter, but not as stable. Nice skills shown here.

  • Very nice save. Did the wing tube snap? Lucky it was that plane and not a cub :)

  • it's NOT fake, aerodynamically it is still possible to fly like that turned at 90°, he keeps it up by the rudder, what is almost impossible is to land with no damage... so well done!!!

  • if its fake how did it land like that

  • no its not. Knife edge on one wing- and turn at the last second above the ground to land.

  • Not fake, very skillful knife edge flying.

    The guy is very good.

  • John you obviously dont fly rc planes or do and just dont know what a knife edge its. You use rudder as an elevator and use elevators as rudder. ive actualy seen this happen but the result was a little more.... firey xD

  • Thats not a fake, how do you fake something like that. What he does after the wing falls off is called a knife-edge. Its a fairly tricky aerobatic maneuver where the shear power of the engine and the rudder hold the plane in the air; the wings produce no lift during this particular maneuver.

  • plus 1 it cant be fake coz ive seen this in real life many times obviously with 2 wings tho lol

  • If both wings would of come off it would of been imposible to control the plane because the other wing keep it stable. If both wings came off the plane would of spun out of control because of the propeller torque.

  • than your stupid

  • If you're going to call somebody stupid you should probably not make a spelling error when doing so.

  • really nice landing guy. Lot of cold blood

  • Yeah, definately watch the vid in the link, its much better!

Awesome pilot, its nice to see he had a good sense of humor about the whole thing :D

  • that plane is bigger than i thought it was

  • Job well done

  • fuck

  • nice! very good pilot.

    btw the plane is HUGE!!

  • So lucky you had control of the plane cause if not then say goodbye to a BIG investment. lol

  • Ive been flying for ten years and I have never seen anything like that before. Bravo!

  • LOL i thought it was some small plane and then he goes next to it and im like holy shit WTF

  • Flying on the rudder , nicely done Thanks for sharing, good landing, maybe few scratches but I`m sure that baby flew again.....

  • Great landing! One hell of a good pilot! Most people would have panicked and crashed. The left wing is highly over rated anyway!

  • nice job of drivin home,,,,,

  • Very gooood landing, sir. Look on the tube for "Awesome pilot, awesome landing". Someboby has done a fake vid on your rc model misadventure. Bye

  • its almost looks real :P

  • good job mate!! hope it flies again

  • What was that noise it was making after it landed? A servo or something?

  • should have landed it on the softer dirt than the hard tarmac

  • well when you land in the dirt there is a bigger chance of catching a edge and then tumbling, and also if you actually flew rc planes you would know that front engine planes don't like to nose dive in dirt and little engines can die from very small FOD

  • no doubt crashing is part of the fun of RC

  • i always said that it would be cool if my rc car blew up......

  • maybe for spectators

  • Good Job Man

  • DAMN

  • amazing landing a least you manged to kepp it under control

  • GOOD STORY BOSS!

  • i did the same thing with my extra 300s except for landing in the trees lol

  • Thats bill hemple flying

  • no shit it tells you at the end of the video

  • awesome

i cant belive u knifeedged ur way to the ground without completely destroying ur plane

    great video

    and pilot

  • this vid is real, its just that its filmed with a cellphone :O

  • umm u got money to buy a plane that big and u dont have money to get a better quality camera??? .....fake

  • I feel like the person who bought the camera and the person who bought the plane are two different people...

  • GOOD JOB!!!

  • Thats like amazing, and its actually possible in real life (in the same type of planes, aerobatic)

  • I think you'll find that's some added humour for fun ;)

  • Had a few RC planes come appart at the field over the years. The worst was usually the tail feather failure due to the engine vibration. We lost several nice P51's that way. Though I had a biplane I managed to save after loosing the elevator. Throttle and crossing up the rudder and ailerons gave me enough control to put it back down on the run way. Nice job!!!

  • Man.. i can't even land my plane with both wings attached :'(

  • You should of hovered it and had the guy without a plane there go grab it theres always one.

  • we have learned a few lessons from this video:

that guy has got skills, one way to knife edge is to loose one wing, and duct tape and 5 minute eposy are two of gods greatest inventions.

  • nice landing with one wing ... u were to lucky man

  • jeez madness, sure is a testament to the builder on this one! id rather put it down to pilot skill though :)

  • This must be an elite flying feild not one person claped or said well done to this guy like this kinda stuff happens all the time. At least shake the guys hand jez!! well done.

  • LUCKY!!!!

  • Nice camera F-head

  • good thing it was a 3D

  • lol. "action" , y didnt u just record it normally hahahah

  • All that knife edge practice finally paid off.

  • thats skill save a lot of money

  • OUTSTANDING!!!!!!

  • an example of an overpowered model compared to full scale aircraft

  • so there not scale...

  • but in this case it was good, because otherwise the whole airplane would be a wreck

  • Sweet ! At least u did'nt have to buy/build antoher plane ! bonus !

  • Very very good pilot

  • Good pilot, sack the builder

  • camera lol

  • Great flying..

However a perfect example of why mobile phones are shit at recording video or taking pics!

  • well, you saved it from a lot more damage, good job!

  • wuhuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    cool

    good pilot

  • What a Save! Great Piloting Skill, for sure!

    RCFEIND

  • That..Was..AWSOME!!! Great flyer!!

  • bad camera. skilld pilote:)

  • reminds me of the Israeli F-15 loses wing after hitting A-4 in training.

  • yeah and the pilot didnt even realize it till he landed... lol

  • yeah....

so he had to come in like the shuttle, 30 degrees nose down, 320 kts approach speed, 260 kts touchdown speed. took all of runway to stop the eagle.....

  • would never happen with a heli lol. bloody plank flyers .

  • Ya, it wouldn't you'd smack the ground in an instant.

  • autorotation my friend rc heli piots rock !!! or you can try drinking a can of red bull it says on the can it gives you wings in an instant lol. great vid ..

  • I figured that meant losing a rotor blade,

That happened to me when I didn't use threadlocker on my feathering shaft bolts, the blade flew out and luckily didn't hit anything, but the heli fell out of the sky.

  • More helicopters are damaged learning to auto-rotate than helicopters who have engine failure and have to auto-rotate

  • good landing with one wing!

  • I flew with Bill when I was stationed at Davis-Monthan AFB in the 80's. He was very good then and more than a bit of a hotdog. BTW- the field is the Tuscan Radio Control Club field east of Tuscan AZ, I flew off that field several years. The end of the video confirms this as well.

  • You did a VERY GOOD JOB. That must of benn so scary

  • Ouch !

    Congratulations ^^

  • That's Bill Hempel I recognize him from some other videos. He IS that good, and it IS real. I think they are flying at a field in Naco, New Mexico, looks like the same field in other vids Ive seen of him.

    Amazing landing Bill!!!!

  • That man's got skills!

The rudder is the new elevator.

  • woot knife edge landing lol

  • perfect!

  • Its real, the difference between flying a full sized aircraft and a RC, is the RC is made of lighter material and doesnt carry fuel, or cargo, or personel. Thus making one propeller enough to pull it through the air on one wing. Plus most RC are mostly hollow, thus again taking away weight.

  • actually that one uses fuel...

  • what the hell do you guys call flying??there all prop duh!

  • Now thats some pro flying!

  • If thats not a fake that is some really good piloting.

  • good pilot!

  • Amazing! Despite the unbalanced weight... Was it possible to land the plane doing a torque-roll and touching down on the rudder vertically?

  • So that's how the guy in that TOP GUN spoof did it!

  • Professional!!!!!!

  • nice video, and make sure there's no wing walker!!!

  • all i have to say is buy a better camera :P

    nicely done though

  • that was an awsome save

  • thats good well done

  • Ladies and gentlemen: If you look out the left side of the aircraft you'll notice the wing is missing.. LOL..

    Nice flying!

  • now that............is impressive. :)

  • Absolute top piloting

  • Pilot:" I Got it" you got skills,

  • i think it´s the third time, that wing goes out, the two others previous finish in a disaster..no really, good pilot!!!

  • exellent save man. at least it wasn't a total write off.

  • Whatever the comments that was some damn nice flying!!! Anyone who flies models knows how hard that would have been!! Gratis dude you have my respect!

Also google F15 no wing or lost wing etc for a real fighter landing and the pilot (and anyone with half their senses!) looking at it and saying "WHAT THE TRUCK!!!!"

    Amazing!

    -M.

  • great job man!

  • VERY VERY NICE!!!

  • As a rc-pilot I must say that it could not be better. Lucky you had a 3d type plane. Shame I cannot do it with mine (great planes' easy sport .40 with a .65 engine on it)

    my respect

  • LOL! "..yeah, I got it.."

  • wow nice skill not so great landing thogh but with no wing gratz =)

  • That was amazing. What a skilled pilot. I help instruct at our local club and have landed a plane with the aileron servo stuck full to one side and even a Tiger Moth that lost it's top wing but I would have never pulled that off! Good Job!
