I love the fact that muslims have just made up some science to back their book up - there was no 'primary nebula' only muslims will ever say that, because that is what it says in the qur'an (roughly) - this is exactly the way in which religion blinkers science and progress - that is bonafide dark age shit right there.

@el1vi2r3 There was a lot of theories of the earth being round back in Ancient Greece. If you read more about it, you would see that these theories were proposed before. I can't remember the name, but i know there was one famous Ancient Greek writer that proposed that the earth was like an "ostrich" egg. I will look to find his name, can't remember it right now.
Anyways, if you read carefully you will see that the world wasn't as primitive as you would believe in the past.

Now, of course simply saying there was advancement doesn't discount the Quarans interesting proofs, but we shouldn't be so quick and make the very ignorant and uneducated point that people had no knowledge about many of these things before.

@el1vi2r3 Who is they though? A large part of the population certainly believed the earth was flat, and it wasn't until much later on that it was proved to be round. But even in the Quaran we are given a vague description, not a scientific explanation of the earths spherical shape. Saying it is like an "ostrich's" egg isn't scientific proof.

@el1vi2r3 I heard something about that, but I'm not sure i understand fully. One of the descriptions i heard about it is that you should drown the fly in the drink? But where is the cure? The fly is full of germs, it would be better to throw the drink away. I'm sure the verse is more complicated, and i doubt this is the translation. Anyways, i can't comment without understanding it.
@kenzo4000 hadith (story) says that one fly's wings bears the disease and the other wing bears the cure. Of course, you can throw drink but hadith (story) is more about how a man who was illiterate and lived 1400 years ago in the desert could know such a thing.

During Muhammeds time he spoke to many different people, some of whom were academics and scientists. We don't really have a clear explanation, but i don't believe just saying well Muhammed was illiterate how could he make this up is a valid point.

The way that i see it is there is only three possible options for the origin of the universe 1) static, not changing and has always existed in its form 2) decrease, from larger mass to smaller 3) big bang, expansion. Logically religious text would go towards three, given that it implies "creation"

@3food4u sure, his entire argument is a logical fallacy, we are not machines, we do not have mechanical parts, we do not "need" a creator !!! our body can be seen in its transitional forms thoughout the fossil record not to mention the human genome project has now proven 100% that we are genetically related to all other life. the study of our genes has even shown that we can turn on/off certain genes during our formation in utero and be born with more monkey like characteristics.

The islamic theory of god states that god created the entire universe, including science, so how can you use science to disprove god.
@3food4u its evidence of evolution, not creation! god didnt create anything, man created god and then man created science, and then science disproved god! the problem with your claims is they cannot justify themselves, they hold what is called the burden of proof, there simply is no proof of any supernatural being of any kind, anywhere, ever! animals, humans, trees, mountains, they are not paintings! its flawd thinking, they do need a "master" or "creator" they formed naturally themselves.
There is no direct evidence(there is really but not for some one like you) to proove god or no god, but whats more likely, for the universe/big bang, to come from nowhere, just pa pa. Or for it to have a cause. Now if there was a cause it would have to be god, because the only reason most of the world believe in god is because god has spread his message.

@3food4u Well thats your first problem, evidence isnt opinion, it cant be accepted by some and not others, it simply is. like gravity, it doesnt need you to believe in it, it doesnt need to be praised, it just simply exists. science is the study of reality, based on evidence! it exposes universal laws that exist, they dont need opinion or debate, they just are. god on the other hand is theology, opinion, no real. and we dont know how the universe started,no one does, especially the religious lol
@TheBrradsullivan The fact is that the Quran could not have been formulated by any man since the linguistic style is not so as could be emulated by any human, not even the greatest of master poets of the arabs.
The hadith are many. Compare them to the Quran and the difference in linguistic style will be clear to see.
The ONLY way to disprove the Quran will be to bring forth a chapter like it. No good talking about history, anyone can put his spin.
@3food4u ...well to start i have the ability to write more poetically then the quran and i only have a college education, but even so lets say that sure, the Quran was the most amazing and superior text ever written...how is that evidence of a supernatural entity? and how does that validate the claims within the Quran? they are still just claims without evidence, no matter who wrote them.

They all float... they clearly believed that not only was the earth flat but that the sun rotated around the earth.

the quran doesnt even use complicates literature, when the word "like" is used, clearly my point is prooven. Maybe if the quran said only about the earth being like a carpet you, then its a mistake, but NO, the Quran doesnt just say the earth IS round, it says spherical.
You do walk on a curve my bad, but what i meant is when you walk, do you feel the overall curve of the earth? that is why the quran says the earth is like a carpet spread out for you.
@3food4u Yes it is, the only reason they said carpet was they had no idea what they were talking about. a person who has something relevant to say isn’t going to disguise it in some vague literary device. if they believed the earth was round, they would have just said " the earth is round and X is the evidence of how we discovered this, so people will take our claims seriously" but they didnt do that, they just wrote a bunch of silly poems with multiple meanings that you have to interpret
@3food4u round and expand are not the same, you cannot try and say one word ment another just because you wish it to. also 21 33 when read in full only backs up that he thought the sun revolved around the axis of the earth, even more then that when you consider " He (Zul-qarnain) followed, until he reached the setting of the sun. He found it set in a spring of murky water. Surah xvll (kahf)vs. 85-86)...they actually believed that the sun went into the ocean/ through the flat earth.

Modern dictionary gives it two meanings: Expanse, and made become octrich egg.
Now this is advanced literature which a miraculous book must have, other wise its boring. a word with two meanings, resulting in"expanse to shape of an ostrich egg" only makes the Quran better.

@3food4u no its not lol an ostrich egg is the exact same shape as a chicken egg just larger, they are both oval...the earth is not oval, its oblate meaning its flat north to south creating a disc shape, like a tangerine.....eggs are restricted around their diameter (east to west) creating a shape like an american football, they are exact OPPOSITES!

@3food4u all bird eggs are generally the same shape, an ostrich egg is slightly more round then a chicken egg...but its still an egg shape, its not oblate. the difference is oblate means pushed/ flattened at its poles, the opposite of an ostrich egg, which is pulled outwards at its poles, im sorry that your struggling with this concept so much i really wish youd look up the difference. go buy a pack of smartie candies, then hold one up next to any egg, they are only the same at a side view

@3food4u there is NOTHING in the Quran that people didn't know hundreds of years ago that we've learned since. In fact the Quran contradicts what we know to be true as well as itself. It says the world is flat and that the sun and moon revolve around the world.

Islam gave a great deal of respect to any one who memorize the Quran by heart. so there are millions of people from the time of prophet Mohammed PBUH until now who memorized the Quran by heart. and you can google this information to make sure. For Example, find someone who memorized the Quran. they will tell you that they can trace back there teachers all the way to prophet Mohammed !

I have been reading the Qur'an, and I would like to point out that it says that Jinns are 'made of fire' which is a not possible since fire is not a substance, but a release of energy due to a chemical reaction.

Every person of every faith tells people to read their religions scriptures as if their's is the correct one. In realty, i believe religion was started for closure. @el1vi2r3 There was a lot of theories of the earth being round back in Ancient Greece. If you read more about it, you would see that these theories were proposed before. I can't remember the name, but i know there was one famous Ancient Greek writer that proposed that the earth was like an "ostrich" egg. I will look to find his name, can't remember it right now.
Anyways, if you read carefully you will see that the world wasn't as primitive as you would believe in the past.

But even in the Quaran we are given a vague description, not a scientific explanation of the earths spherical shape. Saying it is like an "ostrich's" egg isn't scientific proof.

During Muhammeds time he spoke to many different people, some of whom were academics and scientists. We don't really have a clear explanation, but i don't believe just saying well Muhammed was illiterate how could he make this up is a valid point.

The way that i see it is there is only three possible options for the origin of the universe 1) static, not changing and has always existed in its form 2) decrease, from larger mass to smaller 3) big bang, expansion. Logically religious text would go towards three, given that it implies "creation"

The hadith are many. Compare them to the Quran and the difference in linguistic style will be clear to see.

@3food4u round and expand are not the same, you cannot try and say one word ment another just because you wish it to. also 21 33 when read in full only backs up that he thought the sun revolved around the axis of the earth, even more then that when you consider " He (Zul-qarnain) followed, until he reached the setting of the sun. He found it set in a spring of murky water. Surah xvll (kahf)vs. 85-86)...they actually believed that the sun went into the ocean/ through the flat earth.

@3food4u no its not lol an ostrich egg is the exact same shape as a chicken egg just larger, they are both oval...the earth is not oval, its oblate meaning its flat north to south creating a disc shape, like a tangerine.....eggs are restricted around their diameter (east to west) creating a shape like an american football, they are exact OPPOSITES!

Islam gave a great deal of respect to any one who memorize the Quran by heart. so there are millions of people from the time of prophet Mohammed PBUH until now who memorized the Quran by heart. and you can google this information to make sure. For Example, find someone who memorized the Quran. they will tell you that they can trace back there teachers all the way to prophet Mohammed !

Every person of every faith tells people to read their religions scriptures as if their's is the correct one. In realty, i believe religion was started for closure. People couldnt handle the fact of not knowing their origin so, in turn, they create these stories which date back to greek mythology and even earlier.
