@ShadowYuri09 Uematsu only did one or two songs for this OST, which had to do with chocobos.

Hamazu is actually an amazing composer and very underrated, he made more of the orchestral/ lyrics in this OST. Including this song.

All the pop and more modern music was created by two other composers(unfortunately I can't remember their names at the moment)

(cont'd) Although XIII-2 is supposed to be 'darker' than XIII, I don't hear this a lot in the available samples. I guess it's because of the nonlineair nature of the game. We'll see what happens...

I really like Hamauzu for lending video game music a very 'professional'/classical feel while also experimenting with all kinds of genres and electronics etc. All this is of course due to his musical training. In short, I find him very important in advancing the standing of game music in society.

Look at the official tracklist - Hamauzu has WAY too few tracks in comparison to Mizuta and Suzuki. From the tracks that you can see there right now: Hamauzu has 12; Suzuki 16 and Mizuta 25!? Removing all those 'agressive' mixes balances it out a bit, but still...

Let's hope that there will be more Hamauzu, otherwise it's weird that he's listed as the first composer.

Don't get me wrong - I like Square Enix for giving others chances, but for Hamauzu to have so little tracks right now...

A. sound like him

B. sounds better than him

C. Won't give the new composers a chance (although Hamauzu isn't new to the FF franchise)

@AsterBarnivere There is a distant worlds video somewhere on youtube where Uematsu and Hamauzu are being interviewed together and they have a lot of respect for each other. I believe Hamauzu said that Final Fantasy was his inspiration to want to get into game music where Uematsu said that if he heard Hamauzu's compositions before working on Final Fantasy, he never would have become a game composer.

I have a lot of respect for both of their compositions and glad to see they are working together.
