im trying to get my belt off of my alternator so that i can replace the alternator. which bolts or nuts or adjustments do i loosen first, second, amd third? just for the alternator belt. my engine is exactly like this one on a 96 nissan sentra GA16DE

2003 Nissan Sentra 1.8L: I just changed both belts. The diagram/video doesn't show, but on my car there is a bolt on the bottom of the power steering pump that you need to loosen (crawl under the car) in order for it to hinge and relieve belt tension. I did remove the idler pulley because it was a tight fit but I did not loosen the power steering pump pulley because there was enough slack.

GOD BLESS YOU! Thank you so much for posting this video. I have banged my head against the wall for several hours yesterday and for several more hours this morning trying to loosen the belt to change my alternator on my Sentra. I had just about given up when I thought I would try an internet search and this video was the first that Google pulled up. I went right out and in 10 minutes had the belt loose and the alternator off! This video really was an answer to prayer for me. Thanks so much.

It helps when you pull on the power steering belt after the bolts have been loosened. You'll see it move afterwards.

any reason y the power steering belt would not release tension after loosening the nut and adjusting bolt? should the power steering pulley bolt be loose?

It took me a while to figure it out. After you lossening the nut you should be able to pull up the power steering motor. You might need to adjusting bolt when you pull up the power steering motor to create enough room for removing the belt.
