Oh gawd i used to love that machine i had so many bugs, I remember burning the shit out of myself ahhh the good ol days of dangerous 300 degree kid toys!!! =(
This was not Incredible Eadibles, these were Creepy Crawler toy insects. You could also slip a bobby pin in center of half baked insect to wear them. I liked assembling the plastic wings on dragon fly. The frog took forever to bake. There were complaints that this was a dangerous toy. Not so if you follow directions that were as easy as pie to follow. The current light bulb safe feature is doable, but not as fun as the thingmaker.
@supermandisco All the good toys are not out of production because parents want the world to be in charge of their children. They've taken the fun out of everything. Stoves aren't safe if your kid is old enough to be alone but stupid OR you aren't watching them which is a parents job so we should probably do away with ovens soon..... LOL
I bought my nephew one of the new safe creepy crawler ovens about 1995. A plastic piece of junk that worked on a lightbulb. And it was locked in there till it cooled down.
Lol no but it's the same thing, the moulds for the things were made of aluminum. I'm sure you couldn't do some metal thing, as even aluminum melts at 1250F
I loved my Creepy Crawlers...I probably went through a gallon of plastic goop! Sure, I got burned by the Thingmaker a few times...but who didn't? I doubt they'd be allowed to sell this toy today...a shame.
That oven doesn't have a lightbulb in it. It's basically a hot plate and the molds could get up to 350 degress. The newer Plastigoop is a different than the 60s stuff was too
yeah thats right I had the 90s version to. im gona save some money and order one. best present iu ever got for my birthday lol. my older oven broke and my mome trough away my mold collections i had al kinds of bugs and i even had the monster molds. im gona by the one just like the one i had, i dig it
Without Vincent Price none of this shit would exist. he invented macabre.

You should let kids play with creepy crawlers and slip in a dead roach and see if they eat it.

Mattel makes toys that the family hates and the boy love, which is why it was so successful. Nowadays toys are educational and not fun at all.
Bring back old school toy guns and I'll buy!

I remember there was a cartoon series based on this. I wish I knew were to find it.
Sillvog 3 years ago
I still have mine. The plastigoop is the same, the oven is the same (a lightbulb in a box) ;P
Mine's an old orange 1980s/90s model. They RE-rereleased it again in the later 1990s in a more streamlined oven (same concept though).
