  • anybody have the lyrics of this song?

  • I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I immediately recognized Adrian's great voice!:-)

  • I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Briljant!

  • The Sound integrated with the electronic fury of Metal Urbain, fantastic stuff.

  • adrian is my idol.

  • this is a very good song

  • Also me!!!

  • I have this album, bought it new in 1981. The whole album is f&cking fantastic.

  • bought it in '81... thought this was the new breakthrough in music... then the disappointment that was New Wave followed

  • TOTAL nostalgia.... absolutely top of the 80's alternatives

  • Souvenir,Souvenir,,,World Of Rubber Est Vraiment Un Album fabuleux...

  • The Brittleheaven site lays it all out, it seems to be Borland central.

  • Adrian Borland - the great undiscovered! About 18 months ago I rediscovered him - ' The Sound' era largely, I've 4+ albums in storage and a Kevin Hewick + the Sound 12" single. Now I'm expanding on the later CD releases, the live stuff is absolutely brilliant - the real thing.... those guitar tones.... seen him live - at the Marquee in 85. Truly one of the best, but sadly gone - his music lives on though and he left loads of stuff, beautiful stuff.

  • Second Layer is featured in the new 'Cherry Red' 8 CD release - 'Fixation' & 'Courts Or Wars' is that the B-side to the 7" single though, I've never seen it CHERRY 21.

I do have the 1981 'World Of Rubber' LP and the 2 early 7" singles released on their DIY Tortch Records back in 1979.

Even the his unreleased & demo recordings are truly quite amazing for the time.

The Outsiders/Second Layer/The Sound/Adrian Borland & The Citizens/Lovefield/White Rose Transmission, all well worth checking out!

  • Sorry, I almost forgot to mention 'Honolulu Mountain Daffodils'

  • Great Stuff!

  • But nobody knew ^^

  • I knew

  • i knew. i have all the second layer stuff and to tell you the truth its a rare but a brilliant sound. second layer were an experimental band formed only by Borland and Bailey. They had never made a live concert under this name. this was a pure intrument experimentation project with lots of emotion and criativity in it... one guitar a drum machine and a synth and voila! this is a good lesson of how to do original music...

ps: my favorite song of them btw :]

  • Adrian Borland was a genius.

Anyway I bet someone plays this in the radio today and peeps will be looking for a 2009 CD of a new band called Second Layer.

  • @INM0R4L That he was, he is missed by many.

  • Hi. Do you know if their 'State of Emergency' is posted up on Youtube?
