Amidst, how many of these games can you run on MAME? A friend of mine has had two Japanese 360s (one broke) and I really can't afford to go to the trouble.
@LiamNeesonsDick The issue with Mame is slowdown and the fact it's emulated doesn't always mean it's a true representation of the game. I'm not saying MAME is bad but it's certainly not flawless.
I think the latest games to be running on MAME are maybe Ketsui (2003) and DoDonPachi Dai Ou Jou (2002).. I think they only got a recent MAME release and only work in a certain patched version, though I havent investigated them yet. It will take a long time before you see these new games in MAME.
@LiamNeesonsDick On the subject of Jap 360s. It's certainly a worrying factor with their known failure rates. I did alot of research before I bought mine and decided to buy the Jasper model. This was released after the Elite model and was designed to be quieter and more reliable. I would suggest maybe getting one of these or going for a new slim Jap 360 as I imagine they would be ok. Whichever you choose it's going to be costly but I have no regrets.
Looks great, its always good to see a new original shooter
