    well.. i don't want to recommend you to use black sauce for this recipe.. it's salty enough..and black sauce has different flavor for this..

  • I tried this today from a Korean market. It was kinda salty and sweet but had more liquid. Is this kind of the same thing?

    you mean.. just skip ?? why ?? the bell peppers give good flavor to it.. and it's healthy to eat vegetables.. but if you want to skip ..yes you can.. you might have to reduce a little bit of sauce then ...

    yes.. you can.. just cooking time..and adjust the saltness a little..because sliced one will get more sauce ..since it's smaller pieces..

    Korea, China, and Japan had very close relations many years ago. They learned a lot of different cooking techniques from each other. It's very easy to see why there are similarities in some recipes.

    the texture will be soft but chewy... when you bite.. it shouldn't have any hard.. fluffy texture... thanks

  • 제가 자주 먹는 떡복기는 궁중이랑 비스하지만 재료가 소고기대신(오징어1마리 칵테일 새우 10마리 참송이 표고 청양고추 6-7개/믹스에 갈아서 사용) 먼저 할것이 오징어를 대처서 먹기 좋게 자름 그담은 궁중 떡복이랑 비슷함(육수는 홍합 끓인것으로) 갑자기 소주 생각~~

    Yes.. if it's fresh I like to eat just plain.. but if it's frozen..or refrigerated... it's not quite good to eat for raw..^^

    They supposed to be soft and chewy..but not hard inside.. it can be depending on the brand..and how long it was frozen.. so even you cooked 20 minutes (it was on high ?? hehe) ..it wasn't still cooked enough.. maybe that case.. you try one bite..and if it's still hard.. cook a little longer until it becomes soft and chewy.. thanks

I was just thinking about trying to find sticky rice cakes to try and make ddeokbokki, because I was watching SHINee's Hello Baby yesterday and JongHyun was walking down the street and bought some ddeokbokki from a vendor and it looked soooo yummy :D This version looks a lot yummier, to be quite honest though! I just might have to try this recipe first!

    Oh.. thanks.. ^^ About your question.. my answer will be depending on what kind of food you like.. first.. if you like spicy food.. I want to recommend.. -bibimbap.. yukgaejang.. soondubu jjigae.. if you like kimchi... kimchi soup.. or fried kimchi rice..

    if you don't like spicy food.. I want to say.. japchae, galbi, bulgogi, kimbap... oops.. I gave you too many choices.. hehe don't eat them all.. =P I hope you enjoy the Korean food tomorrow.. let me know how you liked it. :D

  • thanks for posting this up, I'm always trying to learn how to cook new food. this is one of my fav dishes when i go out to eat korean food.

  • When i first tired cooking my Rice Cakes, they didn't seem to soften all the way through - is there some sort of technique to get them soft all the way through???

    I think i made my own little verison like this the first time i tried making Ddeokbokki!!

    I think i'm gunna make this in a few days now - looked yummy ^^

    If it's frozen one.. thew or boil as I did.. that helps to get right texture and get good flavor for the sauce.. when you stir them.. you can feel.. they are soft.. or you can break one piece with spatula... then you can feel .. it should be soft but chewy.. not crumbly or hard.. if it's still hard.. keep cook until it become soft.. thanks
