on 3:27 Instead of rook takes f7 all white has to do is slide his rook to d6 and that is mate. Just thought I point that out. Very good game though and very good analysis given the complexity of this game.
I don't think the queen sacrifice is so surprising once you consider the fact that it was not a decision that was made once Chase played Bg4. What does make it amazing is that he saw very far into the position what would happen as a result of the queen sacrifice which would be forced after Nd2
You should all check out the brilliant chess commentator jrobichess here on youtube, what I like most about jrobichess is his massive positional understanding. You can really learn allot from his positional evaluations.
so....... go check out the videos by the great jrobichess.
Hi Gulli. In my opinion Kingscrusher is much better than Jrobi and I would direct my subscribers to him far sooner. But you're entitled to your opinion! Jrobi has only been playing for 2 years whereas Kingscrusher is a seasoned professional who knows a vast array of openings, traps, common tactics etc. Jrobi would be better for beginners (he began his youtube chess when he started playing the game so it's all fairly simple) but for club players and above, it can only be Kingscrusher. Thanks.
Well, I just wanted people to see jrobi's lectures cos of their unusual entertainment value. The thing about jrobi's lectures is that the more you know about chess the more entertaining they are :)
Yes, it's true, he made it look very simple against the best players in the world in much the same way that Fischer and Morphy did in their respective eras. I think these are the best three players in history without doubt. All the best,
Thanks. I think it was in fact Magnus Carlsen who was called the Mozart of chess - but the title could have easily been applied to Capa too. We could call him the Beethoven of chess if you like! =0)
Sweet jesus, that's mental. You say that Qf3 is rare in the King's Gambit, and yet in the first video, you outlined several reasons why it was a good move. Are there any significant drawbacks to playing it?
Well, it's a double-edged move - in "classical chess" development it's almost always a knight that belongs on f3. There is a danger, if white has no immediate breakthrough, that the queen could lose some tempi being threatened by minor pieces etc - but, as I outlined, there are many advantages also, especially for the aggressively-minded player. I used to play the King's Gambit a lot but this is a line I didn't get to know well. Are you thinking of using it? Good luck if so!
Me use it?! Heavens no! It seems to be one of those lines, like the Poisoned Pawn I guess, where a massive advantage can be gained, but only if you are able to play with grandmaster-like accuracy. I guarantee that if I was to play Qf3 in the KG, I would lose about ten moves later. Nice, calm and solid, that's how I like it. Stuff like this just blows my mind.
Loved it. I especially enjoy games with the infamous queen sac. You are right, most of us well do anything to save it, thinking the game is lost without it unless it is queen for queen. Great foresight on Caps part.

Jrobi's FICS blitz rating is like 1178...that would almost be half of kingcrusher's rating?

Jrobi can't match kingcrusher

Many times other masters observed how Capa seemingly was seen to just toy with other noted strong masters at the board.
Thats why Capablanca was know as " The master of Grandmasters"

It fits Capa very well though, Mozart's music is very clear cut and simple but at the same time deep and profound.....
