@bamhimf its a screen and you have to replace it, but you can remove the filter and soak the petcock, and work if from on to off to res, several times to help get the junk out, or a new one with the filter will cost about 20 bucks on eBay

I just bought two of these for 2 hundred dollars for the both. The guy never got them to run right. After an hour or so going through the carbs they now run like new and I've turned my 200 bucks into at least $1600 ;<) . They are actualy in good shape body and plastic wise and they had new tires. The idle jets were stopped up and that was all that was wrong.

@fastgmc A grand each? I wasn't sure they would bring that much. I'm thinking of keeping one because I do need an extra. Going to repaint the frames and have been looking to see if I can find a taller rim that would fit the rear hubs, any knowledge of this would be helpful.

I have had the same fourwheeler for years, its been great. Was having roughly the same problems with it for a while so I took the tank off and cleaned it out and replaced it. It didn't fix the problem so I have no idea what it is, im not very knowledgeable with engines. Was thinking it could possibly be the carb, any suggestions?

@Synthrine125 yeah, kinda a easy fun fix, if your getting spark its going to be your fuel or carb, replace the fuel line to your carb install a fuel filter, take your carb apart and clean it with carb cleaner, dont mess with your fuel air screw it should be right where it needs to be , just take it apart clean it all up and put it back together, may want to get a carb rebuild kit so you can replace all of your gaskets, but they may be ok, these things run forever, i did rebuild my top end too

@JosephSniPA the newer looking one with the chrome wheels is a 98 four trax 300, the naked four wheeler is a 03 rancher, the one with the messed up plastic is a 89 four trax 300

dude my grandpa has 1 but its pretty much mine but anyways mine is so grade A badass dude itd probably hit high 60's low 70's on a nice summer day when u can make the dust fly but with the sick back tires on it with about 2-2.5 inch of tread it can go where a 4 wheel drive can

yeah they have the single a arms...i sold this one actually thursday night to a fellow..i made 300 profit on it not to bad i dont think for what i had to work with i would have made more but i had to buy the plastic tank for it

Yes, it is a 300 FW. Says Fourtrax on the tank. It is the Green one and going to need some plastic.... hahahaha. Both brake cables are stretched (don't work) and the Hydraulic brakes aren't working for speeds over 5mph. It is a good base that needs to worked through but still a decent base to start with. As for the fuel filter. I am hoping it is in the carb, because I don't see one on the line itself. Petcock flows great.... had gas all over the place when I took the tank off.

na there isnt going to be a fuel filter in the carb sometimes you will find one from the tank to the carb ...but your petcock has a filter on it..its probiably gone by now though...those are great atvs

That is a good idea. I do however have a racing idle then it goes to normal and then races again. I suspect the air/ fuel mixture screw is misadjusted. Do you know how to adjust it? I was also told by the guy I bought it from that the serial number plate had fallen off of the ATV. He pointed at the engine to show where it was. I don't believe that was the VIN because it is usually on the frame.......... But Where??? Do you know?

it could be your air fuel screw...its on the right side of the carb looking towards the front...but more than likely im going to say a stopped up fuel filter or petcock filter..the vin is usually on a plate on the front ..but what your looking for on the motor is a motor number ..ok it says the engine number is stamped on a raised pad on the right hand side of the crank if you can get me that number ill look it up and see what year it is..you do have a 300 right?

I pulled the filter completely off and now it starts fairly easy. Will get a new one before I ride it though. Getting a miss while it is running as well. I found a short in the wire with the inline fuse. Someone else had rewired this, so I will fix that as well. If I messed with the wire with the short while it was running, the motor would stumble. Hoping this is my miss and the reason the battery isn't charging back up. Thanks for responding so soon.

my fourwheeler WILL NOT start with electric start i have to push it down a hill and put it in gear and it fires right up idk wats wrong with it then the transmition went out on it from jump startin it so much!

dang, you dont have a pull cord or kick starter then,,,,i havent had to work on a transmission yet it probiably isnt that big of a deal to repair it..but i dont have a much knowledge there

i have an 89 300 with kick start and i find it better then the pull start on my rincon, one or two kicks and she fires right up. easiest thing to use aswell

those things had kickstart? wow i remember they had high compression or something, it must be hard to kick over

yeah they have a kickstart pretty much for emergencies or of your battery dies and you havent replaced it but still want to ride....there is a decompression lever on the head so you can kick it over about twice with this open..then close it and it will fire right up...

tim buddeh there is a push button on the carb just push it a few times and it will fire right up s called a primer button im 14 man and i can take one apart and rebuild it in like 30 mins cause i got a 1991 4wd 300 and it is a beast well thought i would help you out and i would like to see it when u get done with it

Well this one has been sitting for a while....and i already took the carb apart and cleaned it ...main thing was old gas and trash in the carb...whats the deal with your handle methmaker?? you dont make meth do you?

Im going to do one on fixing them....i found a place to get them for 278 but shipping was going to be $95 each piece, so im going to do the best i can with just fixing what is on it. Should be interesting to see how it turns out.

are you talking about a 250r three wheeler? they are kinda rare around here ..there was a guy with a 86 350atc but he wanted alot for it...and the plastic was screwed and it had some that were made from diamond plating....just what you need to cut your leg off when you roll. already started chewing baccer...ill make you a video of me dippin'
