  • @PeauProductions I really would like to build a table with a built in touchscreen computer do you have any videos or blueprints because I am a boob at this stuff!!!!

    I also plan on subing

  • @DemonofMC Just watch the videos and look at the information on our site. Lots of help their.

  • @PeauProductions hi i have seen All of ur videos of all kinds and i have understood the concept

and i am using acrylic material with ps3 cam,,, Im missing the software that would transform my picture into the touch screen ! how would the camera transform the infrared light to touch and work precise and neat! my goal from this i want to make my projector screen into a normal windows touch screen that would work on any program pls help me i need ur rply as soon as possible

  • @kastaramation You need to use a tracking program such as CCV (ccv.nuigroup.com)

  • You did mention in this video that you can lay this on top of an LCD tv. I would like to know how that works. Does this just lay right on top of the tv with no vinyl

  • @iamthesilverlining Yes the Endligthen with LED frame around it can be placed on top of an LCD screen that is separated to allow the camera to see the touch surface. You need a light diffuser under the LCD to even out the backlight.

  • @PeauProductions So then where would the camera be placed to view the screen? The reason i ask is because i wanted to build a touch screen into my coffee table but its pretty low to the ground. I saw the infrared frames that look like they work well but after the tv and the frame your looking at $1000 project. I like the acrylic as its WAY less likely easily break.

  • @iamthesilverlining The camera is placed underneath the LCD screen. You have to take the LCD apart though and separate the layers. For really low height setups you need either multiple cameras or a very wide fov, non-distorted lens.

  • @PeauProductions Thank you for information. I think im going to go for a wide angle projector and camera and see where that gets me before i tear apart an LCD since this will be my first build. I like the DSI simply because of the versatility of the design. One more question, if i was going to solder the LED's myself for a 32 inch screen in parallel, i know they need to be broken up into strips to allow spacers for the acrylic, how do i wire the strips together and then to a power source?

  • @iamthesilverlining You'll want to look at an led calculator to figure out the strands of LEDs based on the voltage/current they can take and the voltage/current of your power supply. Then you simply wire each strand of LEDs in series to each other in parallel. Or you can just buy the LED ribbons we sell for a much easier setup.

  • @PeauProductions Okay so for a 32 inch set up, one 5 meter strip from your site should be plenty to wrap the acrylic, plus the power supply, 2 spacers. When i cut the strips to insert the spacers, what do i use to wire them back together so i can plug them into the power supply? Do you have any particular projector and camera you would recommend for a low setup?

  • @PeauProductions i just found the buyers guide at environment lights and it has answered 90 percent of my questions. the only thing i am left with is if you could recomend a wide angle projector? or should i get a projector and put a wide angle lense over it. im trying to keep this project under 500$, and the projector is the last thing i need.

  • @iamthesilverlining There are many projectors to use on the market. To keep prices low, I'd recommend a used or refurbished projector. You'll want to find a short throw projector with a lens already on it.

  • Peau, is 7D512 the best diffusion layer? Could you recommend a thinner material? I am currently using paper vellum as a diffuser in my DSI table and it blocks a lot of IR light, making blobs weak. Thanks in advance!

  • @pyresz Yes the acrylic materials typically provided one of the best options for rear projection diffusion layers, though our thin film RP materials also do a very good job. Please see our site for more info.

  • I would like to ask - what are the minimum requirements for the camera and also what are the preferred camera specs.

Also I am looking to use fudicials so I would like to ask what software would I use to set this up (open source preferred) - would it be the reactivision open source software or something else?

Would it be possible to make the surface dark until it is back lit / used without loosing functionality?

  • @FlynnUOGM Almost any computer can run the CCV tracking application, but the faster the CPU the higher frame rate you will get (and thus the smoother and more responsive interaction you will have).

You can use reactivision or ccv for fiducial tracking.

An LCD screen would be dark until turned on, and you can use a very dark projection material for the diffuser too.

  • u said DSI and FTIR it have the same setup, just minus the sillicone layer. On the FTIR video u put vinyl+sillicone on the clear acrylic. So minus the sillicone would just be vinyl?. But in this video, u r using rear projection something (with a lot of number). Can I subtitute that material?

  • @sovsfan DSI requires a special type of acrylic known as Endlighten. You can get it from Evonik. FTIR just uses normal clear acrylic. Both setups need a rear projection material, but the RP for FTIR must be a thin film that can flex when you touch it. DSI does not need a compliant layer because it uses diffused reflected light instead of frustrated reflected light.

  • @PeauProductions i get it now, thanks. Great videos on the step by steps how-to

  • You mention in the video using a lcd screen? How does that work with the camera behind?

  • @Chuchzilla LCD screens can be used if you disassemble the layers of the LCD. Essentially you're sticking the camera between the backlight and the LCD matrix where the image is. Check NUI Group for more info.

  • this looks fantastic and versatile. Have you any puredata patches for this?

thinking of building my own, could you give a list of materials please.

  • @propman101 I've never worked with puredata before but you may want to poke around on the NUI Group Forum to see if anyone has. If you send me an email with a description of what you're looking at I can put a list together, though if you go to my website you'll find all the info you need there

  • please help me: i'm italian and i live in rome...can i order too those materials? great video :)

  • @rickr4ck yes they are available on my store, see the video description for links

  • @PeauProductions does it work in daylight or in a illuminated room?

  • @rickr4ck These setups only work in environments that don't have a ton of infrared light, so no intense sunlight or incandescent bulbs
