Hey Rick is not an idiot!! He's a pro at what he dose and that is why cafe corsa was raked #1 in Los Angeles and why it's also ranked a 5 star cafe in DTLA! We all make small mistakes. To call him an idiot especially from a person how is not a pro at what they are commenting on is very idiotic! Lol!
'Caffeol" is not "oil." I can't believe how many coffee pros use the term "oil" as if it is literally the case. The "oil" that emerges from dark-roasted beans is not an actual "oil"; it will, for example, evaporate over time.
Actually, it is a naturally occuring oil and will not evaporate. Go ahead, go to a decent coffee shop and have them pull an expresso shot using a fresh and decent blend.
Take it home, and leave it in a window. Let me know what's left after 4 days.
snedie- okay, it's an "oil" but is also highly volatile and will constitute an absolutely minuscule portion of the cup- this idiot is saying that the stream is FULL of oll, which is crap. An 8-oz cup of coffee has TWO calories from a combination of "oil" and protein (not sugar, another myth) present in roasted coffee. That's not even one gram of oil in an 8-oz cup- that's not even a QUARTER GRAM of oil. So the stuff you see in the evaporated cup is a ton of different compounds, not just "oil."
